The day 103 Brittany dogs were seized was the day their lives changed forever. Each dog was given a number. A number means they matter. A number means at one time they were touched and loved by a human. I guess I matter too, because I was given a number. I am dog #80. My name is Hedlee. Follow Magnolia Brittany Dog #80 “Hedlee” and her new family of dogs. From the moment they take their first breath to beyond the rainbow bridge, each dog has a tale to tell. You will witness puppy’s first breath; and feel happiness as one dog finds his best friend, beyond the rainbow bridge. Because at the end of every rainbow, there is a dog.
As a lifelong dog owner, I loved this book of short stories. By the end, I knew everyone of the pups. Fred is, and will always be my favorite. He thinking’s what I usually say. And sweet Hedlee, the rescue hit the jackpot when she found Alice.
Alice Wollman has a wonderful way with her prose. Sometimes the reader dances, other times, we choke back the tears. I’ve read this a number of time when I feel the need to be transported away from my real world. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Wollman publishes next!
This is a book for anyone who knows how it feels when a dog crawls into your heart and stays there forever. It’s happy, it’s sad, it’s funny, and it gives voice to everything it means to love a dog. Perhaps most importantly, it remembers Sarah, Jessee, Charlie, Trooper, Louise, Joey, Buddy, Hooker, Johnny, Shelby and Magick. Thank you, Alice.
Congrats Alice! Thank you for sharing your Brittanys with all of us! I enjoyed your stories and have read them allowed to my husband and sons. They have said this story sounds like our house. We have had brittanys for over 10 years.
