Let me start by saying that the frustrated groan above was not because the book was not good. Oceans Deep was just as amazing as the other two if not more so! I absolutely loved the continuing development of the characters, especially Tai and Nani, and Alexi and Marc (but all the other characters as well. I really love Kenya and her development). This book was filled with excitement, growth, and twists and turns that made me eagerly devour the book until my eyes hurt. Travis introduces yet another aspect to the world of Milana in this series. A whole new province with new creatures and different dangers that keep us readers interested and fascinated as we go! I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it may even be my favorite but I'm not sure yet!
No, that frustrated groan was caused by the realization that I now have to wait for the fourth book and I simply don't want to! I've been so excited to see how the story unfolds, and I've invested myself so much that now I am impatient concerning the release of the next book! I hope it comes out soon so I can once again delve deep into the world of Milana and be reunited with the characters that I have come to love.
4.8 Stars, once again grammatical mistakes were made in this book, and again I really didn't care that much but I did notice them.
Savor this book because the fourth is not out yet! I should have followed my own advice, but I was foolish enough not to!
I've quite enjoyed this series. The characters in this story keep growing with each new book. Each day Nani learns more about who she was and now is, and Ti grows closer to her, not knowing where his love for her will end up. There is a Christian theme to the story which I wish was a bit stronger. As each pillar is discovered the danger to the group grows. I can't wait to see which pillar we will discover in the next story!
Okay, I admit it: I devoured this book as eagerly as a starving person consumes whatever food he/she can scrounge. But I wasn’t feeling well, we were still “sheltering in place,” and this third installment of the Milana series was that compelling!
In Oceans Deep, Nani and Tai face their next test from the Bayru and mend their second pillar. Nani recovers more memories and experiences more loss. Her team of Trusted friends grows more cohesive, and they gather more allies. More pieces of the puzzle fit together, despite the odds mounting against their ability to fulfill their mission to restore the kingdom of Milano to the Breather’s agents.
Again, there are some typos and awkward moments in this story. Either I am getting more accustomed to the author’s style, so I don’t notice them, or her skills as a writer improved with each new book. The fact that I can hardly wait to see what happens next is even stronger.
The author has created some very likable characters within these books. Even the minor characters demand to live long enough for you to hear their stories and see them succeed. The plot unfolds with as much intrigue as a murder mystery, and you hate to see a story end. This series ought to be made into a movie series, or at least be recorded as an audio book set.
I started these books to check them out hoping to find a new series for my daughter, and I haven’t been able to stop reading! Such a great adventure to go on with this group of outstanding characters. I fully enjoy the shiny Easter eggs that let me know that Anna Travis is obviously a fan of at least a few of the same things as myself (I named my daughter Aviendha!) and to have them woven into a beautiful fantasy series that glorifies God and what it means to choose to follow and serve Jesus is just such a blessing! Big big thanks and love to Anna Travis for these books!!
I love the fact that the book was a longer, since that meant that Anna Travis could fit more material into it. It is an amazing book, and how Alexi is changing was amazing. All of the characters progressed in their character archs, and I loved seeing how Nani and Tai grew closer together and started working together. Now, where is the next book? I am exicted to see what Pillar we see next, and how the character archs continue to grow.
This was hard to put down. I found this series right after the first one was published and have kept up ever since. There are 5 pillars they are searching to find and to 'fix' them so that the evil that has gripped their world can be overthrown. This book gets the rest of their group involved more than just supporting roles. Can't wait to where these strangers are entwined. Whether they stay with or go back.
I had trouble putting this book down...it's going to be hard to wait for the next one! I love how creative the author is! Mad world-building skills! I mean who thinks of things like liuials, water mountains, pathways of pink light, etc...?
Wonderful read! I especially enjoyed relating the characters and story to my own faith journey. It could be more complex but it kept me awake and I had to finish before I was comfortable doing anything else. This a fabulous series!
DNF @ 78%. My interest just kept dwindling more and more and I eventually just stopped picking it up. Once it was sitting on my Kindle for 3 weeks, I just threw in the towel.
It kept me captivated. I also purchased the audio. I also enjoyed the combination of listening to the audio and reading. Highly recommend the books by Anna Travis
