‘Mentor - an experienced business person who delivers knowledge, advice, guidance, motivation and emotional support to a mentee’

Author Mark Nureddine speaks form experience in this very sound guide to making a business dream a reality. His remarkable success in creating Bull Outdoor Products - a company now in its 25th year that provides grills, islands and grilling components to more than 900 dealers and distributors in the North America and globally. POCKET MENTOR is now only the history of that successful venture but also a guide to all people starting a business and dreaming of successful expansion in the manner Mark has experienced.

Mark delivers a straight talk guide that works so well because he keeps every aspect of his teaching accessible – ‘A business owner must be fluid and flexible; willing to engage in a continual process of learning to keep up with the market. Each business has different requirements to grow and thrive, but there are key components that every new entrepreneur needs to know. For example, in any business, there’s always going to be a lot to learn. I still learn something new every day, and I’m excited to know that I’m going to be learning until the day I die. As my business changes and grows, I continue to study and absorb new information. I make it a point to keep my mind open to change at all times. As you know, customers change. So do their wants, desires and needs. Designs change as well. And technology is certainly always changing. No matter what your business idea is, it is going to be driven by the market. Consider that one of your first lessons!’He reveals his personal history, showing that even small ideas can become major routes to success. Adding, ‘I’m not a psychologist or an executive life coach, but I do believe that there are some key personality traits that are important to being an entrepreneur: Good morals, Good work ethic, Loves to work, Loves to create, Great vision, Doesn’t need a lot of sleep, Decision maker, Problem solver, Multi-tasker, Likes to read, Good speaker, Good communicator, Articulate, Ideological, Passionate, Good with money, Good with people, Personable, Caring, Smart / Intelligent, Driven, Honest, Always thinking, Can manage stress, Can let things go, Managerial, Generous, Dynamic, and Good listener.’

Our coach then offers his startup tool kit - Dreaming Up Your Idea, Market Research, Legal Creation of the Business, Insurance, Office Essentials, Business Financials, Hiring, Non-Traditional Ways to Hire, Human Resource Services, The Benefits of Hiring Employees, The Importance of Suppliers, Hitting the Market — Product Launch, What to Know about Shows, Planning for the Future, and Ready, Steady, Rock!

Down to earth solid mentoring from a man who fulfills all the personality traits he lists. This is a much-needed manual for success.

This book is the author's way of mentoring young entrepreneurs. In the book, the author provides lessons learned and knowledge he acquired while setting up a business from scratch. The information provided should give a new entrepreneur knowledge and assistance. Once read the book can be referred to as needed. The book seems to meet the needs of a new entrepreneur and with the advice coming from an experienced entrepreneur should be very helpful.

A fabulous little book that deals with various aspects of entrepreneurship. The author has managed to get in lots of valuable and detailed knowledge of the steps involved in being and succeed as an entrepreneur. I have a long experience of working as a contractor and with that background, I can really recommend this book.

Wide Ranging

There are a lot of books out there, and I look for ones that show some unique angle. This one isn’t the best written from a grammar or easy to read perspective, but covers a ton of information and pitfalls associated with entrepreneurship. You’ll pick up a lot of good basics and information that will help you run your business. Worth the quick read.

Good guide lines for product based companies

Having had a product based company, the advice here is invaluable. Wished I would have had this information back when I started that business instead of learning the hard way.

The book has some good insights into some broad entrepreneurial categories, but this could have been a short series of blog posts. It's not book-worthy material.
