Fantastic, in-depth, unbais resource of knowledge on chakras. This is about a two inch thick book and worth every penny! It speaks as a guide to each chakra and how to improve your spiritual health as a whole by bringing them into alignment.

From Netgalley for a review:

I only had a preview of this book to review, which is a little good because the whole book is over 1,000 pages, and just from the first ten chapters I had access to, this book is dense. They are not kidding when they say it is the definitive source for Chakra info, I was floored by the amount of info, covering different schools of thought and pretty much everything relating to chakras.

I did find it a little, not necessarily off putting, just kinda hilarious, the chapter on Kundalini was opened by a quote by Nicholas Cage. Having such a walking pile of memes as an intro just pulled me out of the moment and made me laugh.

Other than that, this book is epic, I would love to read the full version at some point. Chakras are an interesting thing both in their use in spirituality and in understanding the body.

I ordered this book from the Hawaii Public Library System website. I want to learn more about chakras and this seemed to be the best choice. When I received the book I did a double-take. It's over 1,000 pages long and thicker than our local phone book. Yikes! Be careful what you ask for. If I kept this book and studied it daily for the rest of my life I probably would still not fully understand the nuances of chakras. So I browsed, renewed the book, and then returned it. Unless you already have a substantial grounding in the study of chakras, this book may be just too much information for a novice to digest.

The book is divided into the following sections, parts, and chapters.

Part II: The Hindu Chakra System
Part III: Fundamentals of Chakra Medicine

Section 2: Chakras in Depth – Historical, Scientific, and Cross-Cultural Understandings

Part IV: The History of Chakra Knowledge Through the Lens of Ancient India
Part V: The Science of Subtle Energy
Part VI: Chakra Systems of Asia
Part VII: Ancient Chakra Systems Across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas
Part VIII: Modern Western Chakra Systems
Part IX: Chakras “et Cetera” – Natural and Unusual Chakras
Chapter 33: Chakras in Nature
Chapter 34: New and Unusual Chakras and Chakra Systems

I have been studying the chakra system for years. This book, as the title states, is a complete book on the chakras. In section 1, the author not only includes the traditional Hindu system, but less known systems as well. The second section goes into more detail about working with the chakras. I found it interesting that she discusses animals and the earth as having chakras. It is a large volume, but the information is presented in an easy-to-follow format. If you like Anodea Judith’s work with chakras, you will enjoy this book.

Absolutely loved this.

I like that this book is very easy to follow, and starts at the very bottom and works its way up in knowledge. It's great for beginners who want to know more about chakras, and how they affect your life if they're blocked.

It also provides great bitesized excersices that teaches you how to open your chakras with simple and very effective methods - at least for me.

This book really delves into an in depth view about energies and chakras and teaches you how to tap into it and open yourself up to more success and inner peace. Like all informative books, it certainly is a heavy read, which is my reason for the 4 stars. But overall a great bible to inner peace. Very recommended if you're new, and want to start from the beginning.

A truly comprehensive treatment of the Chakra system in the Yoga tradition is achieved in this thoughtful reference. The author covers a wide range of topics that are often superficially mentioned in metaphysical books; here, no vague allusions are found. Instead, the reader is given a good understanding of the subject matter and related concepts, from human physiology to spiritual experience.
Most worthwhile is Ms. Dale’s comprehensive research on the historical and cultural backgrounds of chakra-based medicine and science. She covers related systems in Asian, African, and European philosophies, these are invaluable to students of healing and mystical practice.

Absolute Peace within

The insight given in the book explaining the depths of chakras and so many other related concepts made be cling to the ideology. The scientific explanations made a lot more sense.

This book is extrodinarily comprehensive, and full of excellent information. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because it's 1,005 pages and can feel quite overwhelming.

It's hard to rate this title. I bought this book because I was forced to recollect memories of when I had experienced chakras first hand without knowing what they were. When I finally discovered that they were indeed called chakras, well, I had do some investigating. I thought I couldn't go wrong with a 1000 page book on the topic. Although, in hindsight this is a very strange topic and I'm not sure how easy it is to discuss dialectically, which makes me think that a book about only chakras is strange in itself.

The book contains a wealth of good information, but it is not always presented in a scholarly way and I was forced to question the credibility of author Cyndi Dale repeatedly. This is a shame as the information is really good. I can give it no more than 3 stars on that basis. I would give it 2 if I hadn't learned anything.

I thought I was a complete beginner at chakras, but based on my own personal experience with them, the first few hundred pages were pretty useless to me. The book got interesting later on with theosophy, crop circles, earth chakras. (I didn't think that I would see the "conspiracy" behind crop circles, but this was very interesting). There is most definitely something for everyone in this book, but can you justify a massive 1000 page book when it is slightly wishy washy? It depends.

Thanks to Llewellyn and Netgalley for an eARC of this book.
I am delighted to see this book by Cyndi Dale. Her books have always been good sellers
for me and this one outdoes most of the others. It truly is a "complete" book. Encyclopedic
in its content, it will be the perfect reference for most everything regarding the chakras.
From the history, to the function, to exercises for each chakra, it has so much information.
The ARC contained only the first 10 chapters of this 1000 page book. It definitely will
be a book I order for my store.

I received a partial manuscript from Netgalley, and based on this lengthy excerpt, the book promises to be an absolutely fantastic resource on chakras. It offers a thorough (dare I say exhaustive?) treatment of the chakras, exploring their presence in a variety of cultures. I love Cyndi Dale's work, and this book does not disappoint.
