But when visions and ancient prophecies make an appearance in their lives, she and Dalton will need to learn to compromise and work as a team... their lives may depend on it.
I have really been looking forward to reading this book. I was sad when I discovered that it was 18+ and more on the sexy side. When the author asked if there was anyone that wanted a clean version I jumped at the chance to vote YES PLEASE! I thought the content would be similar to her Cauld Ane series. While it was pretty much "clean" in the romance department, it was NOT clean when it came to the language. I absolutely despise the f-bomb and this book was filled with them… along with a lot more language than what’s in her Cauld Ane books. For this reason, I personally cannot consider this a clean read. :(
I would be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued to see where this series leads. But if the content in the rest of the books in this series is going to be like this one, I will not be continuing on. :(
Content: Heavy language, mild innuendos, mild violence.
A second chance is there if she can put her tattered heart on the line just one more time. And for him, it only takes the right woman. This heartwarming, passionate paranormal romance was the first in an exciting spin-off to the Cauld Ane series that pulls in some great crossover connections and follow-ups with known and loved characters.
Andi Rivers has not had an easy life living as the adopted daughter of a power and rich, but emotionally cold couple who raised and nurtured an evil in their midst. Andi got away as soon as she could, but her past clung to her and she nearly let it break her. She set aside what her heart was calling for and took the safe road only to find that marrying for safety left her picking up the pieces once again. It is then that her high school crush and the man who makes her crave what she is afraid to take walks back into her life just in time to protect her from danger.
Dalton Moore is at a crossroads in his life. His sister and her friend happily settled in the secret Cauld Ane world and he has stepped away from the FBI to run his businesses and work security jobs for the Cauld Ane, but still something is missing. It's only when arriving at the hospital when his dad has a heart attack that he realizes just what that something- rather who it is. The girl who got away and left him with no answers for her disappearance, Andi Rivers, is now his dad's nurse and a gorgeous woman. But she is skittish and bruised by her past. Dalton isn't about to let her walk away from him again and he certainly isn't leaving her alone to face a stalker-like danger no matter how many times she tries to shut him down and push him away.
After the Cauld Ane series (which I still need to go back and get some of those stories), many folks including myself had a craving for more. This one moved along quickly, but had depth of plot and character development. It felt comfortable and easy to settle into and enjoy.
It's so nice to discover that with a little twist, there is more to the Cauld Ane world than previously thought and now the emergence of the Oracles has come. Fun to see how this fits in and paired with a heartwarming reunion romance story and a dash of danger on the side. Dalton and Andi were a great pairing and their banter was fun. Loved seeing him stick with her and help her heal.
I will point out that this one isn't really a good spot to start because it is so closely tied to the earlier series. I'd strongly recommend starting at the beginning of the Cauld Ane series to get up to speed with the world building, characters, and the mention of earlier events. Also, there is a tie to a standalone mystery story, A Nun Walks Into a Bar. I haven't read that one yet, but there is a slight connection that other fans might recognize and enjoy.
Her bestie was a great add in and I do hope she gets her story eventually with that hard headed biker who wasn't going to let a little thing like a brush-off get to him. And let's not forget the check in with several former characters to make this a great crossover first of series story.
All in all, it was great getting back to a favorite world and characters and exciting to anticipate what comes next. I would recommend this book/Cauld Ane series for paranormal romance fans who want a bit of something different in the paranormal world building with a flirty passionate romance.
My thanks to the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I've said it before and I'll say it again .... I love the world of the Cauld Ane!
Dalton and Andi went to school together and both had feelings for the other, but circumstances and events separated our couple. Ten years later they meet again when Dalton comes home after his father suffers a heart attack and Andi is a nurse at the hospital. Right from the get go, Dalton was determined not to let Andi get away this time. Andi is still dealing with the fallout of her divorce and is wary of opening her heart - even to Dalton. I loved watching Dalton knock down her wall brick by brick. Of course we get a bit of suspense and some more history of the Cauld Ane.
I absolutely loved this story and the different spin for this couple from the others. You could read this as a standalone, but you seriously would enjoy the whole series so you start from book one.
I've loved this series since the first book and have re-read them often. While I enjoyed this book, it didn't seem to have the same feel to me that the earlier books had. The first thing I wasn't crazy about was the use of a first person narrative that switches between the main characters. I thought it was more distracting then the earlier books which are written in third person. I also thought the explicit sex scenes took away from the romance and bonding of the couple. God knows I'm not a prude and I've certainly read many novels with far more explicit sex scenes, but after reading the first 8 books, this charge was quite jarring and didn't really fit with the way the series had been going. It also seemed that instead of fleshing out the story as much as the previous books, the sex was thrown in to distract the reader from a weaker plot line. Lots of unanswered questions are left for the reader to wait until the next book in the series. Some interesting new characters and all of the old ones thrown in, some who help advance the story and others who seem to appear just because.
SPOILER: On the plus side, I'm very pleased that for the first time a women is the one to bind the man, but the fact that Jet gets out of jail or a mental institution again, for the 3rd or 4th time since the beginning of the series really ticks me off. Ok, he's crazy but, if defies belief that he seems to escape so often especially since there are several references to him spending the rest of his life locked up in previous books.
Dalton, Samantha (Moore) Gunnach's brother, is back in Savannah and faced with something he wasn't necessarilly prepared for, but he wants it. Andi, the adopted sister of Jet, yeah the Jet that attacked Pepper, has moved back to Savannah after her life is torn to pieces. She's not prepared for what life has in store for her and she's not sure she wants it. I like Dalton and Andi for one another. She tempers his ego a bit and he bolsters her strength and self-esteem. They each feel things that the other either helps with or adds to, almost always in a good way.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this one but, it was a pleasant surprise. This story gave us a whole new level of magic to add to an already amazing series. The introduction of Haddi was especially interesting. I like his character. He opens the series to a whole new level of awesomeness. You also get a chance to catch up with past characters and see what's happened with them. Who has more kids, who's living where, etc.
I really don't like the villain of the story, or rather villains. I feel so terrible for Aspen and what she had to endure because of them and their evilness. That's the only 'bad' part of this story.
This story takes place about 7 years after Samantha and Kade's story and, when looking at the time frame, it's amazing how much has changed in less than a decade. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I can't wait to see what happens in the next story.
(side note; this story introduces us to some characters from another of the author's series, Dogs of Fire: Savannah Chapter.)
This is a beginning to a brand new series by Piper Davenport. However, there are tight connections to her Cauld Ane Series, and passing connections to a couple of the others that we have loved so much!
Dalton is the brother of Samantha from Cauld Ane Book 1, Bound by Blood. Andi is the one that got away. They went to school together, until she disappeared, for unknown reasons. As soon as Dalton sees Andi again, all those old feelings come back, stronger than ever.
I love how decisive Dalton is, even when faced with Andi's feelings of inadequacy. He's so sure of who he is, what he wants, and where his life needs to go. Even when faced with something completely unknown and scary, he never wavers in his support and love of Andi.
Andi is a total surprise. Even with her horrible past, she is still such an interesting character. I think that everything she has been through just makes her into a stronger person. Her past definitely contributes to who she is and how she reacts to situations put in front of her.
This book is full of fast paced action, visit from much loved previous characters, and surprises that I never saw coming! There are hints at things to come that left me wanting more. This is a great addition to the fabulous world that was created by this awesome author! I can't wait to see what's next!
I LOVE the Cauld Ane series and to see that there was going to be a spin-off series was a dream come true! After I squealed with excitement and then jumped up and down with amazement I finally clicked my kindle on and then started reading it and I didn't stop until the very end. It was a non-stop ride of amazing proportion! There was no good place to stop reading it, so I didn't. I just kept going until the very end and then I debated whether or not I should start reading it again! I didn't start again right then, but I did read it the next day and I was able to pick up the things that I missed the first time - since I zoomed through it so fast.
This is an amazing read and one in which I loved!! It was a non-stop roller coaster ride that the reader couldn't predict anything about. The author took us on a looping, curving, twisting ride that never stopped and one in which the reader couldn't predict what was going to happen next on! You could start with this book and be fine - you would be able to understand what was going on with no problem and then you will be hooked on the series just like everyone else that reads these books.
Andi and Dalton are perfect together and are nothing apart. They have spent much of their lives apart despite the love that they shared. They reunite in a way neither one sees coming and they pick up right back where they left off. The author has the characters instantly become a part of the readers lives and she never lets them out. They become a part of the reader....they are instant family.
Grab this book and be prepared to do nothing else once you start reading it. It is that amazing! Sit back and enjoy this amazing ride!!
I really enjoyed this latest book in the new series The Oracles by this author!! This is the story of Andi and Dalton who knew each other in high school. They each had feelings for each other but circumstances led them to be apart. Several years later they cross paths when Dalton comes back into town. Andi is the nurse who is taking care of Dalton's dad after a heart attack. Dalton knows that she is it for him and will not let a second chance slip through his fingers again. Andi doesn't know quite what to think she hasn't had the easiest time of things but Dalton is determined to show her how exactly she fits into his life. Their story is filled with ups and downs, twists and turns you never see coming and of course some character revisits that I loved!!! I was hooked from the very first page and hated to see it end. I can't wait for the next book in this amazing series. I highly recommend everyone read this book...its that good. Well done!!!
I have really enjoyed this series up until this book. Someone jumping into this book as the first in the series won't understand what Cauld Ane is. This one felt more like a draft of an idea. There was no true angst, no pursuit of the woman. Andi caved immediately and just accepted everything without much thought. Dalton suddenly decided she was the one for him, after ten years of no contact.
It felt contrived and the sex scenes lacked passion. Some of them even had jumps in them like fast forwarding through a movie. It was disappointing after the other books in the series. Those had a real pursuit of the woman and real passion. The Cauld Ane was more of a footnote and not the focus of the story.
I'm not sure what happened and why this was so different, but if you've read the other books in the series, this is a disappointment.
This is the story of Dalton and Andie. We met Dalton in earlier books in the series. Andie is the “one who got away” for Dalton Moore. He’s loved her from afar for several years. Andie has had a “crush” on Dalton since high school. They meet again when Dalton’s dad has a heart attack and Andie, a nurse, was working at the hospital. The story evolves to an interesting storyline that’s rife with “teasers” that go unfulfilled. I still have a problem with the “copy and paste” sex scenes. There are a few other things that are “copy and paste”. There is another book left in the series. I think the author needs to seriously think about bringing it to an end. Either that or open her mind to something totally original while still staying within the frame of the original storyline. There are sexual scenes that may offend some readers.
Loved this book! To start this book is a spin off of a series but I think you can read it as a stand alone if you have note read the main series ( But the rest of the series is great sooo you should read them also!). Dalton and Andi are an amazing couple! Dalton is a classic alpha and Andi is a sassy heroine who challenging him. The have great steamy chemistry! They were potential high school sweethearts but a series of events separated them for 10 years. Now that they have found each other it is a fun and excited read to their happy every after. This but has some fun plot twists and will keep you turning the page to find out what happens next! Steamy romance, humor, action and great characters all make this book your next must read!
I absolutely adored this book! I was so happy to not only be reading Dalton and Andi's story but to also dive back into the world of the Cauld Ane and have this fantastic series extended now with the revelation of the Oracles! I was captivated from the first page which completely gave me "Practical Magic" vibes with the true love spell being cast... I liked how Dalton and Andi's relationship developed and then what a treat that we got to travel back to Iceland and have some of our favourite characters pop up including the absolutely adorable Liam!! Now I am sat here needing a 2nd gen Cauld Ane/Kault Einn series with Liam and Libby!! And bring on Doom & Aspen please Piper 💖
This is the 3rd book I've read from this author. I was a little wary that this was #9 in the series, but with enjoying the other 2 that I've read, I put that aside and dove in. Wow! From the moment I turned the first page I couldn't put it down. I absolutely loved Andi and Dalton. Both are strong characters already established in their own skin, but when the reconnect after years apart they grow even more. The awakening of Andi's 'more' was secrets, adventure, romance and drama all wrapped up in a bow. I love how these two are really two halves to a whole. I also like how there are familiar faces from the other series' sprinkled in throughout. I will definitely be picking up the rest of the series and the other one as well.
I absolutely loved this book it not only connects with the Claude Ann series but the Dogs of Fire series as well!! It brings together all of my favorites series! Andi and Dalton went to high school together but circumstances kept them apart. When Dalton’s Dad has a heart attack, flys back home, where he sees Andi, who works in the hospital. Dalton isn’t gonna let Andi slip through his fingers again! But her whole world changes when she shakes Dalton’s brother in laws, kade, hand. Will Dalton and Andi finally get their happily ever after? I love Samantha and Kades son and revisiting the Claude Ane. I can’t wait for the next book!!
Dalton Moore, at last, we get to read his story. Brother of the Queen of the Cauld Ane he’s been lurking in the background for a long time. Ex FBI and a gentleman from the south he protects what’s his and goes after what he wants. What he wants is Andi, the nurse who admitted his father into hospital after a heart attack, and who is the girl that got his attention in school. But why are dead animals turning up on Andi’s doormat and why does Andi blackout out after touching Dalton’s brother-in-law? A trip to Iceland changes their lives and on their return danger lurks.

Piper delivers yet another amazing read that will have you glued to you e-reader, a second chance romance that is also full of action, suspense and intrigue. If like myself you loved the Cauld Ane series then this spin off will have you jumping for joy at getting to spend more time in that universe, although this can be read as a stand alone. Dalton and Andi are such a great couple plenty of steam coming off them, the way the speak to each other was at times heart melting and at other will make you laugh out loud.
This book had tie ins to The Dog of Fires and Cauld Ane series written by this Amazing Author. In all honesty I haven't read the Cauld Ane series (don't really need to), but I really need to start. Dalton and Andi had known each other back in high school, family circumstances separated them. They will reunite due to family. Family can bring you together but it can also divide and sometimes be deadly. A well written love story with many twist and turns. Looking forward to the next book by this Author.
An amazing read that not only gives us the wonderful story of Dalton and Andi but also another look at some of our favourite couples from previous books in the Cauld Ane Series. The storyline is really great and leaves it open for Piper to gives us more stories set in the Cauld Ane world. I really enjoy the way Piper gives us readers a wonderful story that not only has a great plot but plenty of steam that will leave you not wanting to put this book down and have fanning yourself to cool down.
Love this series and I am so excited that Dalton gets his own book! This book has all the things, a great story, catching up with past characters and did I mention a great story. Andi and Dalton have a second chance at love and find out that they are meant for so much more. Dalton is all alpha and Andi is a sassy heroine who gives Dalton a run for his money. I loved reading this story and how these two characters found love. Again with any Piper Davenport book there is steamy romance, action, humor and you wont want to put this book down!
I loved this series when I read it and I have wanted to read about sexy Dalton since he was introduced in Samantha and Kade's story. PD doesn't disappoint she gives us the sexy Dalton plus she throws in sweet, funny and oh so alpha. Andi his leading lady is funny, cautious and had loved Dalton for years. A great addition to this series. I wonder if Cole's story is out or will be out one of these days. Happy Reading!!!
Dalton has been in love with Andi since high school. An incident and a misunderstanding sent Andi running. Andi and Dalton run into each other again. Dalton decides he doesn’t want to let her go again. Andi meets Dalton’s brother in law Kade and her world turns upside down. Can Dalton convince her to stick with him for ever? Come see what happens and be ready for a heart pounding ride.
Andi is working at a hospital trying to rebuild her life after a nasty divorce. Dalton flew home because his dad had a heart attach. He didn’t expect to find Andi at the hospital. But he is determined to not let her get away again. He had feelings for her in high school. But her brother was the idiot he got kicked off the football team and out of School for attaching Pepper. Andi soon after that disappeared. There is no way Dalton is letting her go this time.
Cauld Ane Series book 9. FANFREAKINGTASTIC! Dalton gets his book. This book took you on a merry go round of emotions. Dalton goes back home cause of family matters. He bumps into Andi the girl that got away. They rekindled and reconnected on different levels. Now add a past that won't quit, a present that borderline WTF and a further so crazy it unbelievable. Throw in some bad guys for good measure and the Cauld Ane clan and you get this kick ass book.
Let me start by saying I really like the Cauld Ane Series and enjoy Tracey Jane Jackson's books Ok finished reading Written on my heart by Tracey Jane Jackson- she is continuing the Cauld Ane story line with this series- the book started out great - I don't think her new style of 18+ sex scenes are necessary and the end the book seems rushed. Went back and looked and she's making the book shorter then the ones at the beginning of her Cauld Ane Series by like a 100 pages. It's a shame she's not giving the books the same attention she did at the beginning of the Cauld Ane series. She truly is a gifted writer and the story line is a great premise for the books. I will continue to read this series because I am truly invested in the characters.
I enjoyed this one as I usually do with books in this Cauld Ane series. They are lite romantic stories with a HEA. I love the immortal nature and the vast variety of stories spun in the series. This one ended much to soon, but any time would have been too soon. Glad hunky Dalton got his girl.
I really love this series it was unique and original I loved every story my one critique would be that every sex scene was the same in every story it was like the Arthur copied and pasted it 1 sex scene throughout the book. To me the series would have been better without the sex scenes.
