This true paranormal story is about the author himself and what him along with his family went through when he was growing up in a haunted house. His family bought a home out in the country and it had sat vacant for a long time. His parents wondered why the home was so cheap, but they didn't really ask the realtor questions of the cheap price. The haunting started basically as soon as they moved in to the house.

This book had the usual door slamming, footsteps walking, voices whispering, etc., but there was no scare factor between these pages. The story was told as if you were reading the newspaper. There was no spooky atmosphere to the story. So readers with that being said, you can turn off the lights with this one as there is nothing to be afraid of in this book! Two stars is as high as I can go on this one.

Interesting read.

An excellent, though short recounting of a haunting. Well written and has the genuine feel of true experiences. I'd recommend it for anyone who enjoys true haunting books. This one was creepy!

Our haunted home in the country by Dale Scott: the author tells us his and his family’s experience living in a house he considered haunted.
*POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD*
Nothing too big happens. The story’s full of strange noises and slamming of doors, but besides this, not much.
It’s told kind of matter of fact.
It is very believable, but in my humble opinion, not very interesting.

Very realistic and believable account of living in a haunted house. There are no fly filled rooms, no glowing pig eyes, no blood dripping down the walls.....but when I experiences hauntings as a child I didn't experience those things either. I identified with what the Scott family experienced and understood how you learn to live with it and coexist, kind of alternating between fear and complacency. The book kept my attention through to the end without the need to "spice it up" by adding things that didn't really happen. If you want to know what living with a haunting is really like this is one book I would recommend.

Loved every minute!

I really liked this story. The son who recounts the experience he and his family had living in this house, had a relaxed, honest, natural way of recounting their experience. I liked the way the story flowed. There weren't any truly horrific incidents, but that somehow added to the reasons One life that the family really experienced these things living In the home, and, he also just had such an honesty in his writing, it just rings true, and is just very interesting. I enjoyed the book......

Great book! My own experiences make me a believer!

I enjoyed the book very much. We grew up with a ghost we named hamilton then later found out he was a poltergeist (we heard three loud knocks in the wall of an upstairs bedroom). My brother (a non believer) almost got smothered to death, my oldest sister and I both had the bed shake, I heard footsteps upstairs when no one else was home etc.

Quite enjoyable & a fast read

If you're looking for a scary story this isn't it. It does have a creepy factor but that is it. I do like that the author did historical research on the property and included it. I have had several paranormal incidents including a childhood home and I find this very similar to my experiences.

The Real Deal

This book could have been written by my family ! We grew up in an old house with remarkably similar experiences! We even gave our spirit a name like they did! Loved this story as I know it's true and very well written!! Highly recommended it - but only during the day time!!

Great book

This is the best book I have read recently. Very interesting story, and the author made the descriptions of their occurrences relatable and informative. Very few errors, and absolutely none that interfered with reading the story. If you enjoy reading true paranormal, I highly recommend this book.

The author reminisces about growing up in his family’s idyllic, albeit paranormally active, farmhouse out in the country.

I’m admittedly a sucker for haunted true stories. This one felt very mild, with a most of the activity being noises being heard elsewhere in the house where it’s mortal inhabitants were not at, lights turning off and on, and some doors closing on their own. Pretty standard stuff to read about, although I would imagine it being quite terrifying to the children who were experiencing it first hand.

Undoubtedly, despite the alleged haunting, the author found living in the house with his family to be a very prominent part of his upbringing, and I can’t help but believe that this book was bringing up just as many fond memories of his childhood as it did chills remembering all the details of disturbances that frightened them all.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 🤷🏻‍♂️

A fun read - but definitely not when you’re alone!

It is back to school season and October is rapidly approaching. I simply cannot resist a good scare this time of the year. The books is short and I read it in one sitting. The author is quick and to the point, without a lot of added drama that would make the story somehow less believable. Mr. Scott, I believe you! I am more skeptical about the reasons why Mr. Scott believes the house was haunted since the presence seemed, to me anyways, malevolent. If it was simply a matter of a man dying young, well, so many others often do and they don’t go on and on about it, scaring the pants off a young family for centuries later. I really enjoyed this book and thank the author for sharing his story.

A Spooky Account

Well-written and to the point, this account is very much in alignment with hauntings of those souls who need help crossing over into "the light". Added to the ghostly activity, the strange human activity (the woman in the car) makes me wonder if they were to be feared more than the unseen. A great book.

Story of a Real Haunting

I like old houses that have stories to tell, and this is a good account of one family's experience. This book is not overly dramatic or emotional, although some parts are scary or unsettling. The events are told as a matter of fact. And that’s what makes it seem real.

Really drew me in

Read this at night, often early hours when I couldn’t sleep. The story is nicely written with such good descriptions that I could almost smell/hear/taste the atmosphere of the house. Nicely tied up at the end. I truly feel this has taken me on a ride which every good book should do.

Well written the author tells his account of living in a haunted house, and trying to coexist with a spirit and does so that is believed. I enjoyed the written style.

I just loved his ghost story!

I read this true to life haunted house tale all in one sitting...it was such an enjoyable read. I TOTALLY believe what the author wrote about moving into and living with his family for several years in a haunted home.

Eerie...SPOOKY AS HELL

Growing up in the '70s, I found this story to be very ATMOSPHERIC, believable. The descriptions raised the hair on the back of my neck. I found very few typos (a very distracting factor in a lot of these premises). Read this, and fall under its spell!

Very well written

I completely enjoyed this haunt . I can’t understand how they took it for years unless they were very financially unstable . I’ve always been one to ignore spiritual presence, but I couldn’t have tolerated this . Good job !

Good read.

Author was descriptive and thorough. Did want to put it down. I never knew what was going to happen next , which made it very suspenseful. I've read scarier stories, but still a good read.

Okay Read

I enjoy anything paranormal but this book just didn't do anything for me. I enjoyed it because it's written by a person who lived in the house but I wish some of the back history had been told sooner. It is a quick read though.

Don't read it alone at night.

Although I was and am sceptical about it being a true story, it had enough chilling to keep me reading.

Held my attention...however it seemed to wander too much....didn't seem to have a story that was compelling.....suspense was there but needed an up to date setting.
