So I have this secret passion for royal romances... wait, what do you mean it's not a secret?

OK, you might have a point there. All right, I have a not-at-all-secret passion for royal romances, but a distressingly high proportion of them are not very good. The last one I read (Pretend Princess) was absolutely dire.
The Doctor and the Princess is absolutely FANTASTIC. I loved the premise - a 'spare' princess, not wanting to be a mere ornament, becomes a doctor and goes to work for Doctors Without Borders, but her brother's abdication of the crown suddenly dumps the job of Head of State unexpectedly on her shoulders. Right as she's about to get hot and heavy with another doctor she met while on mission.
Gabrielle and Sullivan are perfect for each other, both dedicated, driven and damaged... Gabrielle by the weight of the burden that has suddenly been dumped on her, Sullivan by the PTSD and depression after the loss of his father he has been sublimating by burying himself in his work.
Making the decision to go with Gabrielle to offer his support as she must take up the reins of her country lands Sullivan in a situation with too much time to think. He has to take care of his own demons before he can be the true partner Gabrielle needs.
There was so much to like about this book, from the charming, realistically written characters to the unflinchingly honest, medically accurate way the author addressed Sullivan's mental health issues. There was a particularly moving scene where Gabrielle abandoned a state dinner to help him when he had a panic attack; would that everyone who suffered from those kind of issues had someone as loving and capable to help them through it!
The Doctor and the Princess is an absolutely delightful romance and if you, like me, have a not-very-secret passion for royal romances, I heartily recommend it as one of the best I've ever read. Five well-deserved stars, and put Scarlet Wilson on your list as an author to watch in the future!

Akhirnya selesai juga koleksi harlequin pertama yg aku baca. Alurnya sebenarnya cukup cepat: pertama kali mereka ketemu, jatuh hati, and then mereka kencan. Tapi, pas dipertengahan bab ternyata gak sesimple itu.
Sebenarnya aku tipe orang yg gak suka spoiler. Isi review keseluruhan dari beberapa buku yang aku baca rata-rata males jelasin panjang lebar.
Jadi intinya dari novel ini banyak pelajarannya, mulai dari pelajaran basic seorang dokter dalam menangani pasien sampai hal-hal yang memang 'kedokteran' banget. Selain itu, pelajaran sikap sama moral juga sering banget diungkit dalam cerita ini. Gimana caranya ngadepin pasien (apalagi pasiennya orang awam yang gak ngerti gimana sih cara jaga tubuh dan kesehatan mereka sendiri); ngingetin mereka pentingnya kesehatan; dan bagaimana seharusnya sikap seorang dokter yang memang peduli sama pasiennya.
Dari dr. Sullivan kita bisa belajar bagaimana cara mengatasi ketakutan kita sendiri, apalagi sehabis kehilangan orang satu-satunya yg kita punya(agak sedikit spoiler ini hehe). Dan dari putri Gabrielle kita juga bisa belajar bagaimana memanage sesuatu yang penting dan menyangkut orang banyak padahal belum pernah terbayangkan bakalan mikul beban seberat itu.
Selamat membaca, semoga bisa mengambil pelajaran dan manfaat dari cerita mereka.

I like Dr. Sullivan Darcy. He's a really cool man. Gabrielle is a hoot to watch in chapter 1 of the book! Watching as Gabrielle ends up the creek without a paddle or possibly even a canoe and how Sullivan decides to not leave her floundering on her own was truly inspiring. When they return to Paris at the end of their tour with Doctors Without Borders, what happens when they leave the bar? Who is Arun? What does he think about Sullivan? What does Gabrielle get told about Andreas, her brother? When Sullivan tries to comfort Gabrielle during a very tough phone call, what happens? Where does Sullivan go? What happens with that? What does Gabrielle end up doing before heading to where Sullivan is? Why is she there? What is going on with Sullivan? You're going to have to read and find out.

I enjoyed Scarlet Wilson's book, The Doctor and the Princess. Sullivan Darcy and Gabrielle Cartier meet through their work in Doctor's Without Borders. It doesn't take them long to discover that they have chemistry. Their lives change drastically when Gabrielle needs to return to Mirinez. Her brother, Prince Andreas, abdicated his position as Head of State. So, "Princess Gabrielle", must do her duty and take his place. I liked the fact that Gabrielle was a strong heroine. I liked that Sullivan was willing to help her in Mirinez. This story was unlike any other that I've read which was really nice too.

Novel yang padat dan alurnya cepat. Beberapa typo cukup mengganggu. Padahal idenya menarik tentang Gabriella, seorang dokter yang menjadi relawan di Doctors Without Borders yang terpaksa harus kembali ke negara asalnya untuk menjadi pemimpin negara. Di kamp dia bertemu dengan Sullivan, dokter bedah dari satuan militer yang mencoba lari dari masa lalunya. Sullivan ingin sekali membantu menyelesaikan masalah Gabriella hanya saja dia harus menghadapi masalahnya sendiri terlebih dahulu.
Saya malah penasaran dgn Andreas, kakaknya Gabriella yg lari dari tanggung jawab. Seharusnya ada ceritanya juga sih

I enjoy the occasional medical romance, a royal in disguise and their protector.
Both Gabrielle and Sullivan are doctors who work with Doctors Without Frontiers. They meet quickly, they work in a hothouse environment and they know they like each other. But what about if Gabrielle gets called back to the principality? Will there be any future then?
Both characters are smart and strong in their own ways and Sullivan's in particular has a sweetness that is just perfect for a consort. Even if neither know it yet!

Gabrielle and Sullivan work for a mission that helps in need countries for those who desperately needs help.There is where they met and things things start to hit it off for the two, after Gabrielle is called to take over her as a princess its obvious shes not the only one keeping secrets. Sullivan is along for the ride but he still got his issues to deal with can he take the pressures of everything going on?
Not even sure if its a good summery but I'm just going to go with it. I really liked this book, I thought it was interesting seeing how Gabrielle dealt with what was handed to her and seeing her take on the role. It was interesting seeing Sullivan dealing with his own set of issues and how they worked on things together. I loved that Gabrielle was not a person to stand to the side when she was given a role she did her best at what she does. You know what I don't think I can tell you more about what I liked about this book without giving it away. I just loved the balance between these two who are nothing alike and managed to find a way to work together. Overall this was a pretty good book, I really enjoyed it.
