Scott Lobdell (born 1960) is an American comic book writer.

He is mostly known for his work throughout the 1990s on Marvel Comics' X-Men-related titles specifically Uncanny X-Men, the main title itself, and the spin-off series that he conceived with artist Chris Bachalo, Generation X. Generation X focused on a number of young mutant students who attempted to become superheroes in their own right at a separate school with the guidance of veteran X-related characters Banshee and Emma Frost. He also had writing stints on Marvel's Fantastic Four, Alpha Flight, and The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix mini-series with artist Gene Ha. He wrote the script to Stan Lee's Mosaic and an upcoming film from POW Entertainment featuring Ringo Starr. He also participated in the Marvel Comics and Image Comics (from Jim Lee's WildStorm) crossover mini-series WildC.A.T.s/X-Men.

I keep wanting Fantastic Four to be interesting because I have a lot of nostalgia for them.... but every time I pick up an FF title, I am bored to tears. It is so fixated on creating heteronormativity that it ends up not actually doing anything interesting

This is some of the best Fantastic Four material ever published. I rank it right up there with Lee and Kirby's run, John Byrne's run and Jonathan Hickman's run. This is a must-have for all fans of the FF and it deserves an Omnibus collection.

I haven't read these for 20 years, but they still hold up. I love that they're not a quick read and actually have some substance to them.

Trapster, Czerwony Duch czy the Frightful Four.

These Lobdell issues came as a surprise when I read them the first time. I was least looking forward to this series out of all the “Heroes Reborn/Returned/Refried” or whatever, but it turned into a nice, decently solid read. Perhaps Scott Lobdell finally found a series he can write well enough to deserve to do more. Or maybe the solid art of Alan Davis and Mark Farmer make up for it. Or maybe my expectations for the comic and the characters were so low (who'd done a decent FF run since Byrne?). The FF is usually deadly dull, unless there's some interesting science stuff (even Kirby-science), but that can strain credibility if it's not done just right (even if it works well in comics), and even the family angle can be lame (and the kind of thing we might want to escape from in comics). Or maybe it is, in fact, just a good read. The first issue is also a self-contained, double-sized (or so) story which isn’t so pretentious as to assume it needs to start a super-sized story arc from the jump.

The first three issues of this reboot are five star material....Scott Lobdell blew me away with his work on this title (and Alan Davis is always amazing) and it has always bothered me that this team only did three issues. I would have loved to see them get a longer run on this comic. Once they leave Chris Claremont moves in, and while this isn't nearly as bad as his later work on the X-Men, it still does have the same stylistic excesses that make his work in this time period difficult to read. Plus, he drags over as many of his supporting X-Men characters as he can, and they seem awkward and off putting in the FF.

I really enjoyed the return but the more I read the more I remembered a lot of the extra threads and characters in the comics went nowhere. If they want to ever wrap up Caledonia and the fate of Puppy I will be waiting. Hopefully it comes in a later issue.

A decently enjoyable read. The ending is mostly setup and not enough conclusion. And as always reading translated sci-fi in danish is kinda cringe
