I went out for coffee. I came back with a nemesis. The city’s favorite hero, Lightning, saved me from getting gunned down, and I thought my luck was finally changing. Not only was I not dead; I also managed to snag an exclusive interview with the masked supe. Only, instead of job stability and internet fame, I earned the attention of every dangerous criminal in the city. The only thing that’ll save my life now is allowing Lightning to claim me as his pet. To offer my body in the hopes that he’ll protect me. But the city has it wrong. He’s not one of the good guys. And submitting to his claim will bring another darkness from the shadows. A darkness whose only goal is to take anything his archenemy possesses. Including me.
I am Nora Ash, and I write a plethora of different romance books. Some of them are really dirty, some of them are only kinda-dirty, some are paranormal, some are contemporary… Basically, I have a rampant imagination and no way of controlling it, except from just writing down whichever idea pops into my head at the time.
The one thing my books always have in common, though? A great story and a guaranteed HEA. If you’re ever in doubt about what you’re about to read, have a look at my book page. It has a flame rating for each series, so you know what you’re getting yourself into!
I’m originally from the cold North (AKA Scandinavia) but these days I live in rainy England with my amazing fiancé and our two pesty cats. When I’m not writing, I’m probably reading, watching Real Housewives of Wherever (reality tv it’s my shameful addiction) or hiking in whatever bit of woodland I can find.
Three fun facts about me
I once ran away with a traveling circus I’m bilingual. Almost-kinda trilingual, but my Spanish is terri-bad these days. I’m a decent rider (English style only, though)

This Summer just got Hotter!! "4.5 Good vs Evil with a Love Triangle" stars
Lightning
Kathryn is the extra curvy blogger that has caught the eyes of local criminals by writing an article insinuating criminal Supes work for the Mayor. It's just a theory, but where there's smoke, there's fire and Kat is now in deep trouble.
Lightning comes to the rescue and marks Kathryn as his.
“If I was truly the asshole you made me out to be, I would bend you over the couch and fuck you rough and deep while you are high on my influence.”
There is something about Kathryn that drives Supes crazy. She's beautiful, strong willed, with a sassy mouth. When The Shade offers to fully claim her and protect her from all harm, she is unable to resist his charms.
The Shade
“I want you to want it, kitten. Tell me you want my cock—tell me you want me to possess every inch of your soft little body,”
When The Shade claims his Kitten against a wall, leaving her panting, with jelly for legs...things get complicated!!
Wow!! What a great introduction to what promises to be an erotic adventure. Nora Ash has created a world where super humans walk amongst regular folk. They are sexy as hell and very involved in politics. The heroes, like Lightning, save lives. The Villians, such as The Shade, kill without remorse. And I am a sucker for bad boys!!
Into the Darkness is an introduction to a longer story and is not a stand alone book. You will be disappointed if you expect a fully fleshed out story. But I am hooked and can't wait to read more about this world. I am also VERY intrigued by Kat and her developing relationships with The Shade and Lightning. I'm immediately starting book 2 Hidden in Darkness
I highly recommend this series to fans of the erotic paranormal action genre.
A CAPTIVATING NEW TWIST ON PARANORMAL ROMANCE!!! Title: Into the Darkness Series: Darkness Author: Nora Ash Designation: Book 1 of 4 Part Completed Serial, NOT A Standalone, Cliffhanger Ahead #menage #paranormalromance #romanticsuspense My Rating: FIVE SUPER SEXY STARS ***** **All four books in the Darkness Series were previously published in 2015 with the same titles and content. There have been no revisions but the covers have been updated.
Wow! What a beginning! Into the Darkness is the first super sexy installment in the four-part Darkness Series by Nora Ash and oh my, it looks like we're in for another wild ride! The story is original, unusual, unique, exciting, thrilling, action-packed, full of danger, seductive and arousing! The narrative is exceptionally well developed, well crafted and very well written in the first person from the point of view of the heroine, Kathyrn Smith, a naive but stubbornly independent twenty-six-year-old, self-employed, cultural blogger. The dialogue is smart, snappy, well-executed, and flows effortlessly. The characters are complex, captivating, engaging, seductive and sexy as sin. The characters literally explode from the pages, draw you in, demand your attention, and capture your heart from beginning to end. Ash skillfully combines these elements into a riveting paranormal/supernatural serial filled to the brim with danger, darkness, intrigue, mystery, suspense, angst, undeniable attraction, and inevitable romance. Once I started reading, I simply could not stop. I was glued to my seat, white knuckling my e-reader with my heart pounding wildly in my chest, and I loved every single minute. It is a completely new spin on paranormal romance and actually has a fascinating plot peppered with thrills, chills, mystery, suspense, and enigmatic characters.
When you live in a city like St Anthony that has a crime rate of forty percent above the national average, it's safe to say there's always a crime to write about but struggling, small-time, cultural blogger Kathryn Smith never thought she would get her badly needed big break through personal experience. On a late night run to her favorite coffee shop, she's held at gunpoint by two masked gunmen while they rob the shop and demand cappuccinos to go. Huh? What self-respecting criminal waits for coffee to go? Obviously, the stupid kind! But at least their stupidity results in giving her the chance of a lifetime - an opportunity to interview the masked superhuman hero identified in the press and social media as Lightning. He was tagged with the moniker as a result of his supernatural speed not because of his ability to control lightning, although after seeing him in person, she could imagine that he may actually be able to do just that! He's beyond sizzling hot! So, despite the danger, shattering glass and flying bullets, Kathryn whips out her trusty camera-phone and presses record. However, disappointment soon follows exaltation when she realizes that Lightning is nothing more than another typical, cheeky, flirty and obnoxious member of the male species. She'd just have to work with what she has, even if he isn't the "Golden Boy" she'd always imagined. She could still write an article about him and the other "supes" that would generate some much-needed traffic for her blog, and she'd make sure it's a great article. And he had the nerve to question her as a serious reporter?! Well, she would show him exactly how serious she could be. As opposed to all the other journalists who fawned and drooled over him, she would expose him and the other superhumans for the jerks they are! She would be just the opposite and expose the truth - so take that, vigilante heroes! Not that she isn't thankful that Lightning had saved her chubby little behind, but his rude comments have opened her eyes and jolted her from her hero worship. It's also given her an entirely new perspective on the way the mayor and the city of St Anthony rely on the superhuman vigilantes to protect them from the ever looming darkness threatening to consume the city. The masked vigilantes act above the law, meting out their own justice and punishment, and they definitely should not be praised for their violent, unregulated conduct. They need to be policed and stopped. But Kathyrn's new attitude is rewarded with a late night visit from Lightning where she is 'semi-claimed' by the masked supe, Kathryn suddenly becomes all too aware of the fact that she knows nothing about the true nature of the superhumans nor their special abilities. She's more determined than ever to uncover the truth but another unfortunate encounter with the criminal element of the city while looking for clues leaves her in the clutches of the worst superhero of all - Shade. The infamous Shade makes Lightning look like a poster boy for the Boy Scouts. And he wants to claim her too, but he intends to really 'claim' her. Oh my! After two sexual encounters with the not-so-good heroes, Kathryn finds herself wondering who is actually good and who is bad, but soon comes to a joltingly awakening realization. In order to protect herself from Lightning and Shade and whatever personal vendetta they have against each other, she would need every single journalistic instinct she possesses to survive. But little does she know that by questioning the morals and tactics of the mayor along with the unregulated glorified masked superhumans, she has opened Pandora's Box, and her actions are about to rain down hell and wreak havoc on her safe, orderly life. She now has two super heroes claiming and protecting her, but just who will protect her from them??? Oh dear! No spoilers from me but I will say this....Beautiful, curvaceous journalist who is too inquisitive for her own good-check! Two handsome sexy superhuman heroes who seem determined to claim one lovely journalist-check! Danger, drama, suspense, adventure, 'super heroes', corruption and malevolent enemies-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion and steamy dreamy sex-you bet! Thrills, chills and a whole lot more! And just between you and me, these superhumans sound an awful lot like supernaturals, paranormals, and shifters.
Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adults since it does contain explicit content, which is code for profanity and hot, dreamy, sex, Although this book does end with a cliffhanger, the remaining four books of the completed series have been released and are available. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as she releases her next book. Nora Ash is one of my favorite authors and has held her position on my automatic one-click list since 2014. ANd finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Into the Darkness is basically just the set-up for the following three books in the series, so the plot is thin and just gives the background with some sex thrown in.
The story has an interesting paranormal premise. Rather than wolves or vampires, you have super-humans, some of which are heroes, some villains. Early in the book, Kathryn has a less than enchanting meeting with superhero and hero #1, Lightning, when he interrupts the robbery of the cafe she's in. After the action has passed, Lightning agrees to answer some of Kat's questions for her blog. But when he responds with more sexual harassment than helpful info, Kat decides to call him out on it and in turn unknowingly makes herself a target within the "supe" community. Hero #2, The Shade, doesn’t make an appearance until late in the story when he rescues Kat from one of her TSTL moments, but when he shows, he makes quite an impact.
Based on what I know so far of the characters, Kat seems sassy and strong, but is naïve in a dangerous way when she chooses to prioritize her career over her own safety. Lightning has good book boyfriend potential, but so far he’s more flaky and cocky than anything. The Shade is an enigma. He has a reputation for being one of the worst villains in the city, but his behavior and need to protect the heroine makes me suspect that’s just what he wants people to believe.
The story is engaging and moves along steadily, so I’ll be reading the next story. However, I think a main complaint by some readers will be how short each installment is and that they could probably be consolidated into two parts rather than four. Having the author divide what is essentially a 418 page book into four novellas – all of which were released on the same day – for $2.99 each, seems like a ploy to milk more money out of readers. And not many people respect that.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***Received a copy of the ebook for an honest review
The cover is awesome, she looks like the rope to me :)
This is a new author for me :) This is the first part in a novella serial. This is for adults only due to the very steamy content. A serial is a book that is published in part to get into the readers hands more quickly. While getting to read each part is quicker than waiting for the whole book, it means that each part usually ends in a cliffhanger and is not a whole story by itself. If this bothers you, collect all the parts and wait until it is whole before reading it.
This world that Nora Ash has created is pretty cool and action packed. Her writing style is fun, and it is easy to picture everything in my mind as I read which makes connecting that much easier :) Kathryn is a blogger, so I definitely connect with her, and the fact that she is not a skinny little twig too. I’m not sure what to think of the two supes we are introduced to because I find myself liking the bad guy more than the cocky good guy. But maybe we are tricked by putting labels on people and that is what is happening here, I have to wait to find out though and it might just kill me because this story rocks!!
I think if you love superheroes, action, bad guys, and steamy scenes then you will love this story :) I can’t wait for the next part!!!
Kathryn is an independent blogger who lives in a corrupt, crime-riddled city where superhuman beings run around acting as costumed superheroes and villains. She witnesses Lightning, the most famous of the city superheroes, stop a robbery at a convenience store. When she stops him to get a quick interview for her blog, he shocks her by making innuendos and coming off as a total jerk, suggesting that he only dons the costume and fights crime to get girls. When she blogs about her experience, painting Lightning in less than stellar colors and even suggests that there might be corrupt elements in the government, Lightning pays her a personal visit in her apartment. Using mind control to fuel her lust, her marks her by biting her neck, telling her that will warn away all other superhumans from doing her harm, but he will be watching to make sure she stays in line. But it's like he's never met an intrepid reporter before.
I adore superhero fiction! And the superheroes in this were epic, larger than life, with all of the super powers and costumes. So many stories these days just have the basic demon slayers, or mages, or military ops groups in normal clothes or boring black leather and market them as superheroes. For the record, this is mis-marketed as a PNR (paranormal romance). The only PNR thing about it is the cringey cliched mating marking (are they part animal? I’m really wondering what the logic of the marking is. In the usual PNR fare the characters doing the marking are usually part animal, but as far as I can tell, there’s been no mention of the supes in this being part animal). Kat (Kathryn) is a chubby (which gets mention far too often. Speaking of which, the lady on the front cover isn’t chubby, so no idea who that’s supposed to be) Lois Lane. Lightning is pretty much a dark corrupt version of Superman and The Shade is pretty much like Batman, and we all know the rivalry between the two. In the cartoon they did in fact squabble over Lois. Just like Lois, Kathryn has a determination to expose the truth, gets herself in way over her head, and does some very idiotic things in pursuit of her story. I love that this is updated so we’ve now got the internet, and cellphones, but oddly no cars? (At least she doesn’t seem to have one). This is erotica, so she’s constantly having sexual thoughts (which seemed really over the top and out of place at times), and the sex scene was graphic. I wavered on whether it felt hot verses times when it felt very rapey. There was use of words like forced and pain, which definitely weren’t hot to me as well as a point when she pleaded with him to stop. It did bug me that she didn’t question at any point what the guys looked like beyond the costumes or who they were as people, not even during the sex scene. In all, I bought the rest of the series as soon as I finished this section because I really do need more superhero fiction in my life. If anyone else is considering it, it’s two dollars cheaper to buy the collection/box set rather than buying the books individually.
This book is about a human reporter who writes an article that gets a little too close to the truth and then shit goes down. She has not ONE BUT TWO SUPER-HUMAN LOVE INTERESTS. WE GOT one guy who's like the fave a super hero yenno we all love a super hero BUT HER OTHER?!?!?! A super VILLAIN or Vigilante idk kinda like batman to each your own cause he's not the villain of the story so I guess he's not really a villain but whatever.
I LOVED THE SUPERVILLIAN type romance cause I have never read that sh-t before and I f-ing devoured DEVOURED it
Because She Belongs To Him.... What is the true nature of superbeings who walk among us?
Lightning⚡ is the name of a superhero kicking a$$ and taking names in the crime🔪🔫 ridden city of St. Anthony.
Kathryn Smith💃💋, an amateur blogger of "the Dark City" captures Lightning⚡ on her phone when two armed🔪🔫 men hold up the coffee shop where she's getting a coffee. Lightning⚡ easily dodges bullets and dispatches the bad guys. Kathryn💃💋 grabs his interest and she uses the time to ask him some questions for her news and culture blog. Lightning⚡ is so self assured, he almost sexually harasses her. Kathryn💃💋 starts to think about why the Mayor is allowing superbeings to basically run amok, while law enforcement takes a back seat to their antics, and crime🔪🔫 runs rampant. She posts her thoughts and the video of Lightning⚡ to her blog that evening.
A late 🌙night visit from Lightning⚡, ends up with him claiming Kathryn💃💋 by biting her neck, marking her. He wants her to be under his protection and domination. She belongs to him now. Warning her off of her political blogging, he tells her there are other super beings in the city, like The Shade👹, that are very bad men! She should lay low and stick to articles about clothes and 📚books and flowers.
Disobeying, Kathryn💃💋, goes to the industrial area of town at night to get material for her blog. Attacked by a group of thugs, she is saved by The Shade👹, when he slices and dices the men into little pieces with his swords🔪. When Shade👹 realizes Lightning⚡ has only partially marked Kathryn💃💋, he decides he wants her for himself, if only to anger Lightning⚡!
Shade👹 finishes the job, and now Kathryn💃💋 is his, completely! YEHAW! I'd like to have two superhuman lovers!💘
The ARC book📑 I received contains the entire series of previously published novellas. It is definitely XXX adult reading. It's a fast, fun, sexy, well written series about superbeings with paranormal abilities.
I really enjoyed reading this short story and look forward to reading the next, actually I'm dying to read it! Love the red hot passion the Shade showers on Kathryn.. She may believe he has mind controlled her, but the truth is who could resist?
In a world where Superheroes who are really paranormal, exist, there is much crime among the humans and the paranormal as well. We meet the good hero Lightning and the bad one The Shade, but is he really evil, or is there a hidden agenda? Kathryn has no idea the mess she's gotten herself into when trying to weed out the truth for her blog... She is in so much danger, but not only from the evil in the city, but from her treacherous body as well.
Strange story. Interesting premise but the heroine leaves a lot to be desired. Why would she put herself in danger for a blog post? Why would she continue despite the warnings and the fact that other bloggers were dead?
Kat is a little annoying. Her need-to-know attitude is ugh. However, she’s a smart, sexy lady and I respect the hell out of her, even if I think some of her decisions are DUMB and she needs a good smack upside her head.
Of course, without determined people who *need* to uncover stories, dastardly plots would never be revealed. That would be a cryin’ shame, especially the way Nora Ash writes.
The plot was entertaining and well-written, focusing more on the relationship, but not neglecting the action. It was a good balance for the genre. But my faaaaavorite part?
Start to a scorching hot series--Kat has a weird work day
Kat's stubborn attitude and smart mouth get her a story of a lifetime--along with the sinful interest of two dangerous, archenemy superheroes.
Who really runs the city? This is a futuristic metropolis where superheroes deal with crime instead of the cops. Corruption is everywhere, and the media avert their eyes.
What I love about this series is how it's packed with some seriously sexy scenes, lots of action and funny dialog-especially Katheryn's wry sense of humor. The story doesn't let up and by the end, I wanted more.
The books are supposed to be read in order, they are still good on their own.
Fantastic start to a new series. Characters are great, Kathryn who writes a blog gets herself in a whole lot of trouble when she stumbles on corruption in the mayor's office, then posting it on her blog sends the bad guys after her. Also throw into the mix two 'super humans' Lightening and The shade who are super hot, looking forward to reading more about those two! Really enjoyed this, read it in one go will definitely be reading the others in the series. I'm sure if you enjoyed the Demon's Mark series you will love this.
But so damned good!! How in the heck did I get sucked into another delicious serial?? The Shade is definitely coming home with me. Definitely recommend since I'm about to crack open the second one this very minute.
Rcvd an advanced reader copy from the author for giving my two cents. We meet blogger Kathryn, who sees the city's hero Lightning in action when he saves the coffee shop customers from robbery. Her hero worship is short lived when he offers smtg similar to sexual harassment....the nerve. She can't believe the city's masked supes are doing stuff around and city and the mayor isnt doing anything...she wrote that on her blog and the next thing she knows lightning is in her apt asking who her sources are. 2 can play at that game. But b4 she realizes the severity of her article, Lightning marks her by biting her saying it will save her and to stay out of trouble. Kathryn never does what shes told and an evening stroll looking for clues leads to her being cornered by a group of men who wish to kidnap her only to be saved by the most bad-a$$ supe in the city..The Shade aka lightning's nemeses. The shade has to have her after saving her and Mark's her for his own. What lightning failed to mention is that sex seals the deal and Kathryn is like a cat in heat. The shade left his mark...more than just on her neck. This doesnt please lighting and remarks her then seals it...then leaves her feeling worthless. Things dont add up...Kathryn is marked by both supes and cant hea enough of them. When an invitation by the mayor to attend an event it's her chance to find answers. Will she be fought over by the good guy and the bad guy? What happens when her clues leads to kidnapping and murder? Why is Kathryn so special? Is the city safe from supes or is this just the beginning of the end?
Into the Darkness – Book One (MFM) The Dark Heart of the city awaits... This first instalment of the ‘Darkness’ series took me instantly into the gritty underbelly of a city with deep and seductive secrets and corruption at the highest levels. Our heroine, Kathryn (AKA Kat, Kitten, Kitty Kat) seems an unlikely candidate to delve into those secrets with any kind of hard-edged reporting yet her blog has caught the attention of several ‘supes’ (superhumans). Our guys, Alpha’s both to be sure. Lightning: our first (alleged) hero. In his initial encounter with Kat he reveals a smug dominance which ends with him basically sexually harassing her! This is what’s prompts Kat’s critical and thought-provoking blog piece on the superhumans and their role in the city as crime fighters. The Shade: our second (anti) hero. Kathryn encounters him in one of the loneliest (and unsafe) areas of the city. Kathryn has fearlessly wandered into a truly dark and deadly encounter with some thugs of questionable morals. She is ‘rescued’ by The Shade (no deets but it gets a bit gory). And his reward for this act of savagery, well let’s just say this is where the author pumps up the steam level to a locomotive at maximum speed! Yikes! Nora Ash at her best IMO! Fast paced world building and the descriptive character development made this a speedy read that I simply could not put down. Nora Ash has never disappointed me. Off to read book two, Hidden in Darkness. This one gets five stars!
Into the Darkness is part one of a paranormal serial series, approximately 18,000 words. Consistent with other stories I have read that are in a serial format this first part resembles a pilot for a TV show - where everything that happens does so at a quick pace, trying to hook as many types of "viewers" as possible into sticking around for the rest of the series. I liked quite a few things so far - I'm a big fan of "superheroes" so that is a plus for me, and I liked the heroine's chemistry with both of the male figures in this first part, though we don't know much about either. I wasn't opposed to the quick sexual content of this book, or the extremely mild dubious consent (in fact, I wouldn't even call it that myself). I also liked that the heroes are described as rivals of each other and the position this puts Kathryn in between them. I'm not sold on the heroine yet - she so far seems a little less intelligent than I prefer my heroines to be, and just in general I personally am not a huge fan of reporters in books (they are all portrayed the same - it's almost a stereotype at this point). There are issues with writing quality - not typos, per se, but definitely with sentence structure. It also seems pretty simple so depending on your perspective it might be a relaxing read you don't have to put much thought into, or an interesting piece of fantasy fiction you'd rather not spend money on. For me, I am intrigued enough to want to continue reading the next part but I can't give it the full 3 stars of the GR "liked it" rating so will say it is 2.5 on their rating system.
I am voluntarily leaving a review after receiving a free copy.
Kathryn Smith, a small-time blogger, went out for her nightly coffee at her corner coffee shop, and just her luck, it got robbed. Luckily the local superhero, Lightning, was in the neighborhood and knocked the two perpetrators out. She seized her chance while all the action unfolded and recorded the event, and he noticed. He gave her an interview, but it was not the interview she expected. She received demeaning, condescending, and sexually harassing answers to her questions, and she got it all recorded on her phone. She rushed home and worked on her blog. She did not create a hero worship entry, nor did she create an antihero or hate-hero entry. She wrote an article that asked a few hard-hitting questions, posted it, and relaxed to a movie night. But then, a couple of hours later, she felt a presence in her apartment. And come to find out. Lightning had arrived in her apartment.
You will have to rely on your reality to envision places this author takes you regarding world-building. Although, regarding character interaction, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how well those scenes mesh. Character depth/background is not supplied, but it does become evident in the interaction.
Warning: Adult Erotic Material. And if you like that, you might like the paranormal romantic fantasy of this short series starter. I give this read four stars out of five stars.
A darn good start of series, as it piques curiosity and leaves you excited for what comes next. It is an intriguing, dirty read full of action, passion and lust. Kathryn meets meets Lightning, one of the local superhumans (aka “supes”) during an armed robbery in a coffee shop. Lightning is the revered superhero of St. Anthony and saves everyone during the robbery. After the rescue, Kathryn’s interview with Lightning leads her into writing an article in a bid to prove herself as a serious reporter/blogger. In the article, she questions Mayor Wilkins relationship with the superheroes and insinuates that there is corruption present. As curiosity gets the better of her, Kathryn decides to investigate further which leads her deeper into danger. Enter The Shade, where Lightning is the local hero, The Shade is the epitome of villain. The one is revered and the other feared. The only similarities being their glowing blue eyes denoting them as superhuman and that Kathryn becomes both their focal point. This book is well written and although edges towards being on the darker side, there is a hint of humor (very slight) which does lighten up things a bit. It is a short, fast, erotic read which is focused around Kathryn. The final chapter is from The Shade’s POV which gives us a small glimpse that all is not as it seems. It ends in a cliff-hanger and I can’t wait to read what comes next. Thank goodness all the books in this series have now being released. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
INTO THE DARKNESS is the first of a four-book series by Nora Ash.
Caught in the middle of a hold-up while on a coffee run nets her an incredible up-close view of "Lightning," a being with supernatural speed, Kathryn Smith realized she had an opportunity to do an interview with him. As cultural blogger for“The Dark City,” it might just be the ticket to get more traffic to her site and hopefully pay off some bills. But their short exchange thoroughly disillusioned her regarding supernaturals, especially him and his arrogance, and she wasn’t going to let it go. She strikes out in an article which lands her in very HOT water, questioning the morality of those who had special powers and their activity in St. Anthony, a city infamous for being a “cesspit of crime and corruption."
After meeting Kathryn, Lightning pays Kathryn a personal visit and claims she is not safe now from those she has unknowingly made accusations against. But soon thereafter, a second supe with a more sinister reputation, "The Shade," shows up to claim her, but it is really just with the intention to keep her safe until the article’s reactions die down?
Thrilling new series for me which definitely claimed my interest - looking forward to reading the rest of these books from this author!
I'm still getting used to serials, but with this one, it was a major blast. You had a beginning, middle and end with a plot that you know expands to the next level, but I was totally fine with where it chose to end itself. It was hot, suspenseful, kinda funny and I think I may come to dig Kathryn and the new superhuman men in her life.
I liked the thought of superhumans being out in the open taking on superhero roles. I've never read a superhero novel, so I was a bit hesitant when The Lightning came in to save the day, but to see him- to know that he and the others, are all really just supes with a mask and nothing like Superman? WOW. Sign me up for this city! Cause it sounds amazing. I can't wait for the second installment. Definite must read if you love your crime fighters and reports getting down and dirty.
First off read the whole mini-series. Second .... I can’t really tell you what possessed me to keep buying the next book. Morbid curiosity 🤷♀️? Do yourself a favor and save yourself a few bucks and DON’T DO IT! I really don’t know what I just read? It has these weird superhero people in it. Not sure where they come from and then there’s this crazy “stupid” reporter woman who gets caught up between two of them. Mayhem ensues. Her description in the book does not match her picture on the cover which for some reason bugs the crap out of me! I’m big on putting faces on people and I liked the pic. Don’t know what the heck she’s wearing on the pic either, she never comes close to wearing that in the book either. The whole things just weird. I had read two other Nora Ash books before this and kinda liked them but this was so down the rabbit hole and not up to par with her others.
had read all the books put together into one, which I think is better since some in the series are so short and it means no cliffhangers, so my review is for the 4 books as a whole.
Overall I enjoyed this series much more than I initially expected. The romance is on the darker side but it's not as dark as the blurb had me fearing. I found the concept of the supes, and how this version of the world functioned to be really interesting. There was definitely some gaps in terms of world building but nothing that felt overly important, just be prepared to go with the flow or fill in minor gaps yourself. I liked the characters, the story kept me riveted and the spicy parts were well written, steamy, and kinky at some points.
I really wish we could do half stars because I would comfortably rate this 4.5 stars instead of 4.
First of four books in a hard erotica series. Total pages 427 - total price $9. The first book is free which allows you to see if you like the story and writing style before committing to any cost. The first book includes two harsh, hot sex scenes.
A well-written superpower hard erotica story - yep, all those adjectives apply. The opening scene is the heroine witnessing a robbery being stopped by a super "hero". The scenes of superpowers in action are exactly what I expect from any superpower story. The scenes with the hard erotica are exactly what I expect from such stories down to the ropey streams. The well-defined characters and levels to the plot are what I expect from a well-written story set in urban contemporary times.
Finding all three at once! Miraculous.
Why didn't I give it a five-star for Goodreads? Well, I just didn't like the men of the menage. Ms. Ash does say they are "bad boys" - and they are; one is a jerk and the other a killer.
But at the same time they, in their own ways, try to be good. The jerk has mind control and uses it on the woman to show how dangerous his world is, even going as far as using it to "mark" her. But not taking so far as to take her against her will. The killer likely has the same ability, but uses only force of will to bend the woman into submission. Again, like his opposite in her affections, he does not take her against her will. He waits until she screams for him and makes every effort to have her enjoy every second of his claiming.
Both men want to dominate her and have her obey their wishes. Good luck with that fellows, Kat may be only human but she has a mind of her own.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Why had I not ever read Nora Ash before? Superheros, villains, corrupt government, and a reluctant heroine caught in the middle of a war she doesn't quite get how bad things are. It's not hearts and flowers. It's dark, dangerous, brutal and violent. I loved every bit of it and cannot wait to read more! Kathryn is a curvy woman who is sassy, curious, has a side of herself she didn't realize, and is now caught between the cocky superhero Lightning and the most evil villain The Shade. She doesn't understand the full picture of what shes gotten herself into. Both Lightning and The Shade have claimed her. She doesn't understand what all that means but it won't stop her from trying to uncover the corruption of her city.
While this is far from my first time reading this book, I like the new addition to the book! It was really unexpected but I love it, good job. The characters are well made and rounded, the heroin the touch of humanity that is needed for this superhero romance. I am pretty sure any lady would be in her predicament, with or without the consequences. Not only do I love the romance but I also love the dialog that comes into work, nothing is bland or just there to take up word space, it was all enjoying to read and I recommend this book to people who don't really like superhero drama, like me, I still liked the story line nonetheless.
(I received a free copy of this book for my honest opinion and so here it is~)
Okay I liked this book. It was vv short novella sized and that’s the only thing I didn’t like coz the author coulda done sm like a book based on supe community Archvillains and superheroes but only for the humans there’s no acc good vs evil coz in acc there’s a whole supe community and no one’s good or evil they’re j acting for their own interest plus these supes are disguised so u don’t know who irl could be a supe but mostly it’s well-known ppl w power money and connections
LIKE ARE U KIDDING ME THE WORLDBUILDING WAS AMAZING AND SOLID BUT LIKE ONLY 150+ PAGES DO NOT DO IT JUSTICE
I devoured the book for this concept idc bout the smut and im personally affronted that it was about smut when Nora Ash could’ve done SO MUCH with thsi concept
Kat is a blogger in search of revealing a big story about superheroes working for the mayor. I thought the storyline sounded interesting.
First impressions... Kat annoyed me. She doesn't seem to do much investigating apart from trawling Google and walking around dark alleys without regard for her safety.
Of course she gets assaulted in an alley but seems to bounce back so quickly that she's back out on the streets in the dark the following night. I found this irritating.
Not much dialogue as the heroine is always rendered speechless.
This is a very short read. Just an intro really. I'm going to give the next book a try but I am not overly hopeful.
I voluntarily received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. loved this introduction to hot “supes” and the blogger who gets herself into trouble between them. I have to admit that I wasn’t sure how to navigate the story where the heroine Kathryn gets confronted by not 1 but two supes who are REALLY into her lol. Granted (minor spoiler ahead), she was kind of forced into submitting to one of the supes due to putting herself in a bad situation, but still, the amount with which she enjoyed it… Well I’m not going to be a hypocrite - I wouldn’t have turned him down either. I guess I have a thing for bad boys lol! I couldn’t wait for Book 2 because I could not put this one down.
