Portville Omegaverse #5

His Steamy Summer

Rate this book
Can love really heal all wounds?

A recent tragedy has taken almost everything from Nate and left him feeling empty and alone.
His parents are gone, he has no home and no money, and he’s lost part of his leg in a boating accident.
Being with Brian, Nate's childhood best friend and crush, feels like home, like his life before he lost everything.
But Nate is worried that things are too different between them now and that Brian won’t want him when he finds out about his injury.

Brian regrets not having made a move when Nate’s parents moved the family away during their sophomore year in high school.
The kiss that never happened between them has haunted Brian for years.
When he sees Nate again he realizes he’s been given another chance with the love of his life, and he’s not going to blow it this time.

Can Brian convince Nate of his love?
Can that love give Nate his life back?
Is it possible for two boys who knew each other as childhood best friends to come together as men and find that they really were meant to be together all along?

His Steamy Summer is a childhood crush/second chance romance of 30k words.

It includes some tragedy and angst, a lot of feels, some incredibly hot sex and male pregnancy, and the kind of disgustingly optimistic HEA you've come to expect from Xander Collins.

A Portville Mpreg Summer Romance (Non-Shifter M/M Omegaverse).

This is an entertaining story but I did not enjoy it as much as I did the previous books in this series. Brian is great and it is wonderful to have some of the characters from the other books included in this story. I wish I liked Nate more but I just couldn't connect with him at all and his negative attitude towards himself and everyone who tries to help him made it even more difficult. As the story progresses Nate's attitude is more positive and he accepts help from everyone who offers it. I love how Brian does everything he can to convince Nate of his feelings for him and that he refuses to let him push him away. The ending is good and I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Happiness: Lost and Found

Suffering a loss at anytime can be depressing and saddening. But when the loss is so traumatic & tragic as what Nate experienced when his an accident that not only costs him his parents, but part of one of his legs. His parents' debt & doctors' bills ate up all their remaining money and assets including his parents house & cars, even his beloved BMC bike. He was forced to go to a shelter for homeless kids and Omegas. Luckily Sunnyside was open or he may have ended up on the streets.

Despite surviving such a tragic event Nate was miserable. He experienced Survivor's Guilt. He missed being in college. He missed being able to do all the things that were previously second nature now were a huge struggle with his ill fitting prosthetic leg. Not only was there pain, but he felt ashamed. He wanted to one day have a job and a family, but who'd want him as their Omega with his defective stump? Who'd offer him a job when he couldn't even walk on uneven surfaces like rocks, sand, and stairs really displayed how damaged he was & felt.

In spite of all the wonderful care & services provided by the Sunnyside Home, Nate never took advantage of them. He felt like a "freak" and exiled himself to his bedroom. Even shunning newly found and former friends for fear that his terrible secret would be discovered.

Brian couldn't understand Nate's reticence. They had been best friends growing up with many fun, happy moments. This new Nate Brian barely recognized, but that did not stop his Alpha hormones from wanting this Omega. He realizes he needs to take things slowly because he cannot risk unintentionally pushing Nate away. Luckily for Nate, Brian doesn't give up on him nor do the doctors, guards, and counselors at Sunnyside.

But Brian is Nate's biggest fan. And he proves it time and again. His confidence & affection is infectious, as the name Sunnyside. Both are instrumental in bringing back a new and improved version of Nate. This story has more of a fairy tale feel to it. But I enjoy reading about disabled young men and how they overcome some pretty overwhelming challenges.

It's an uplifting mm mpreg alpha/beta/omega non-shifter romance. Nate is down in the dumps after suffering a tragedy, and even his long-lost best friend and crush Brian can't rouse his interest. Some medical care, counseling, and Brian's persistence snap him out of it, and he achieves more than he could have imagined. It seems as if everything is now going his way.
There are lots of secondary characters, each of whom presumably have or had their own book in this series, of which I've read one other inspiring title.
Typos: this book is particularly sloppy. Several contractions are missing apostrophes (lets, were), possessives are either missing apostrophes or have them in the wrong place (parent's for parents', Hanks for Hank's), the imaginary word "overwith" is used three times, effect (result) is repeatedly used for affect (cause), two proper nouns are't capitalized (French, Pacific), a couple missing question marks, laying and laid for lying and lay, "bearing my soul" for baring, NBO (National Bike Organization) is once called UBO, "on afternoon" should be "one."

An emotional story of survival and moving on from tragedy. Nate and Brian are childhood friends who were attracted to one another but never acted on it and then were separated when Nate's family moved away. Now Nate is back after surviving a tragedy that took his parents lives. Brian and Nate still have a strong attraction for one another and have great chemistry but Nate's very insecure because of his injury. I really like how understanding, supportive and patient Brian is with Nate and it was great seeing Nate develop his self confidence little by little.

This is the fifth book in The Portville Omegaverse Series. A Sweet book the writing was good. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters wonderful. The characters were developed and thought out. Nate is an Omega and Brian is an Alpha and they are the MC’s of this book. There was humor, a bike, bike race, friends, a beach, Sunnyside Home, a baby and so much more in this book. I can recommend as a good read. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Reunited and it feels so good!

Wow this book gave me more than what I was expecting and I am not disappointed!

Character breakdown;

Nate: when I first read about him in the previous book I was already intrigued. So when I read his book it was lovely to see who he was, and how quickly he was able to enjoy his newfound happiness.

Brian: I liked him but he was so affectionate it was so very not alpha of him lol (kidding!) I loved him!

Now I'm way too excited for the next three that are coming! Now into Alex and his not so omega mate lol!

Second chance romance with lots of heart, determination, and love. Nate and Brian touched my heart and i love that they are a family now. Their journey to love was challenging, but they were strong and had some amazing friends.

This is fun and engaging read and you will be happy that you treated yourself!

I love the ending!! i was so delighted with 'the picture' at the end.

I was gifted this book from the author and i freely give my review

Good read

Brian wants the love of his life any way he can have him and Nate feels flawed from an accident. I feel I know the characters already. The story line is short and sweet, sexy and some angst, but some things were skipped over but there is a reason the author Xander Collins gives which I am looking forward to, I'm on to book 2 next but looks like I will wait for books 3 & 4.

After an accident that took away his parents, he left all alone in this world. He was a lost soul then he met his childhood friend slash crush, Brian.

Brian is regretting the chance he missed with Nate in the past so he wants to take a chance with Nate. Unfortunately, Nate won't open up easily. It took a lot of effort from Brian to convince him that Nate is worth it.

The insecurities is slowly faded and Nate is ready to build a life together with Brian.

Sweet

A sweet, sweet story. Almost like a fairy tale. A little adversity that was soon overcome with open hearted generosity, and all life's obstacles being but a bump in the road to that fairy tale happily ever after. Sigh. If only real life could follow in the same vein.
A sweet, light , happy story. A good cleansing buffet between heavier more immersive stories.

Watch 2 old friends turn into lovers.

Nate has lost everything, including part of his leg. You will love his rebirth as he realizes people can love him in spite of what he sees as defects. When Brian pulls out all the stops to win Nate's love, he gets exactly what his Alpha senses are craving. I loved this book!

So good

Childhood friends have a second chance at love, once Nate tells Brian his fears.
This is the first book in a series about four roommates who all find love one summer. It’s a sweet if somewhat quick read and I can’t wait to read book two.

Another warm story full of emotional feels and loss and recovery! A great addition to this series and ZC shows us how to turn a horrid life experience into a future full of hope and happiness. yes its fiction but it is sincerely writen and could be about people somewhere in our universe.
