Matthew Kelly is a best-selling author, speaker, thought leader, entrepreneur, consultant, spiritual leader, and innovator.
He has dedicated his life to helping people and organizations become the-best-version-of-themselves. Born in Sydney, Australia, he began speaking and writing in his late teens while he was attending business school. Since that time, 5 million people have attended his seminars and presentations in more than 50 countries.
Today, Kelly is an internationally acclaimed speaker, author, and business consultant. His books have been published in more than 30 languages, have appeared on The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller lists, and have sold more than 50 million copies.
In his early-twenties he developed "the-best-version-of-yourself" concept and has been sharing it in every arena of life for more than twenty-five years. It is quoted by presidents and celebrities, athletes and their coaches, business leaders and innovators, though perhaps it is never more powerfully quoted than when a mother or father asks a child, "Will that help you become the-best-version-of-yourself?"
Kelly's personal interests include golf, music, art, literature, investing, spirituality, and spending time with his wife, Meggie, and their children Walter, Isabel, Harry, Ralph, and Simon.
I read this book while I was homeless simply because I had nothing to do. This book led me to understand the difference between false Catholics that merely go to church & the complexity & all encompassing nature of Catholicism as a lifestyle & the fact that it is a complete system of adeptship like Hermeticism or Thelema. I strongly recommend this book to folks that practice Magick particularly that of Aleister Crowley or Hermeticism. I also recommend that people of all religious backgrounds read it. I think what took me by surprise having a Catholic mother is how inept most Catholics are & how little the average Catholic works at being a Catholic. This system called Catholicism is very interesting & essentially fulfilling in the way the practice of Magick is. I also recommend that people ask themselves while reading this book "is this what the Vatican/Catholic Church promotes or is this what they pretend to promote while they practice heresies against humanity. An excellent book worth many reads & should be in every Magician's library.
M Kelly brings the Catholic faith into the mainstream of modern Life. His insights on Christian living in a 'culture of consumerism and death' are spot on. Mostly geared towards the younger folks, his advice is sound for everyone. He has a few original things to say...not just repeating what others say. A Youth group or young 20-something group will find this book east to read, but thought provoking.
The author presents the subject with such clarity and honesty and truly meaningful real life examples. It refreshed my memory of a faith I grew up in and inspired me to do more and be more fully involved and aware in my spiritual life. It's a book I think everyone should read whether they are Catholic or not because it really clarifies and helps people understand some of our basic beliefs. Highly recommended for everyone.
This was a good read about issues with spreading the Catholic faith and things we can do to become better Catholics/people. The last 1/4 of the book was better than the rest but overall I'm glad I read it.
For me, another of his best books. An authentic treatise on how to get back to the basics, essentials of the Christian faith. A book that can be very useful for those beginning the RCIA process in US parishes.
