The boys are back! *cheers*

And what a brilliant return. Every line is gold. Jon and Damian are the well oiled machine we barely got to see before the series ended. The banter is perfect, Jon’s he sweetest little thing and Damian is trying really hard to pretend he doesn’t value Jon’s company.

The thing I notice the most about this series is that it’s the only Rebirth series I’ve read where I felt that Damian was 100% in character. I understand him here and his interactions with Jon are heartwarming. Especially thinking back to how they met.

Jon is so jazzed just to be around Damian. He has his cute little “Summer of Super” chant and he’s so happy they’ll be spending time together and saving the world. He’s even feeling rebellious enough to sneak soda into the bunker (because his parents won’t let him have any).

I just want so much of their little moments hanging out, arguing and fighting bad guys together. I love them so, so, much and I pray DC gives us an animated tv series soon!

Definitely a recommend!

Jon: Summer of Super!!
Damian: Seriously, I will pay you 8 million dollars to never say that again.

Was the premise a bit silly? Yes.

Is it as good as the first series? Not so far.

Did I love the hell out of this anyway? Absolutely..

The duo that I didn't suspect to like BUT I FREAKING DO. Ugh Jon is adorable and Damien is grumpy to the core and I am here for it. I know I read a Super Sons comic before and I enjoyed it just like this one. I really like their dynamic and I will continue to read it!

This was a bit of a let down honestly. It's not really bad per say, but it feels like a bit of a step down from the last issue of the original Super Sons book with the dialogue between Jon and Damian being just a bit off beat, and the team of kid DC villains honestly seems like the book just now getting around to the most obvious thing to do with this premise which I was actually kinda proud of them for not doing in the first place. Now maybe they can turn it around in later issues, but just from this I'm feeling a bit underwhelmed.

What in the actual heck is going on here?

Ok, I guess I should first say that the art and writing are both fantastic. It's exactly what I want from a Super Sons book.

But also...WTF? And not a bad WTF. But a "I didn't see this coming at all" kind of WTF.

This maxi-series had better lead to more of these two, because I may riot otherwise.

John Kent is back and I'm back to Super Sons. Let me tell you that this series is far more interesting than the first one - I'm already burning with excitement to know what happens next. Just can't give it enough stars.

A bit of a slow start, but I’m excited to see this play out. I love the dynamic between these two characters. The previous story arc was really well done.
