Arch-enemies at first sight, the only thing spoiled housewife Stella Armstrong and chauvinist cop Rocco Wolfe have in common is their mutual disdain for each other. But when unexpected tragedy strikes, they find another common thread: Stella’s newborn daughter, Blue. Overnight, they’ve become all Blue has in the world, leaving little room for the powerful tension blazing between them to spit even one more spark.

Forced to put aside their differences for the sake of baby Blue, the two rivals find themselves living under one roof, fighting to juggle their careers and social lives as a baby they never planned on raising together works to uproot their lives.

Try as they might, a world shaken to its core has a funny way of peeling back even the sharpest layers. Threatening to unveil a depth of forbidden love, explosive passion and dark secrets dangerous enough to destroy the only family Blue has left.

And this time, forever.

I'm fascinated by deeply flawed people in impossible situations, and insane people who don't know they're insane. Perfection puzzles me, so my characters are always just a little bit evil--whether they know it or not!

*Spoilers*

Speechless...this book is terrible!
And Stella, the h, is a spoiled entitled brat, who did nothing but shop, whine, and run up thousands of dollars in debt. Rocco, the H, is her late hubby's BF and also a police officer. They both can't stand each other but everything changes when, during a raid at a "Spa", Rocco ran into Stella as she gave a male client a "massage". He lets her walk but tells her he's done cleaning up her BS.

Two weeks later, and because he promised the late hubby that he'd watch over Stella and her daughter, Rocco moves in with Stella, and the nonsense ensues.

Meanwhile, Rocco, who is a manwhore of the highest order, has different women over every night while secretly lusting after Stella. Got that?

Anyway, they eventually think themselves in love and the end.

Bleh...

Damn Rocco Damn!

You went from zero to hero. I liked this book ... a lot!

Going in, I knew this book was going to end on a cliffhanger and I jumped in anyway. This author knows how to tell a good story and she doesn't keep her readers waiting forever for the follow-up story. So ... Illicit (Book 2) ... Coming Soon!

More to follow ... soon.

Something about this just wasn't enough to keep my attention. The time skips for one were a bit confusing since there really was no clear indication of just how much time has passed. And I really couldn't see how Rocco's annoying attitude didn't get him a cast iron skillet upside the head in the beginning. By all rights Stella should have burried his crazy butt in the backyard. The whole enemies to lovers is always a fun trope, but I really didn't vibe with this story.
There were some mistakes here and there that were a little distracting. But what confused me was the main plot point of Rocco having to wait years to sign up for the FBI. That doesn't make any sense since the application is always open for multiple available positions for accademy enrollment.
Others may enjoy it, but I was surprisingly not thrilled with this one.

Man falls for his best friend's widow while looking after her and her infant daughter, who is now fatherless. Sounds like a decent plot, but to me, Rocco fell waaay too hard like on cue. I can see how Stella would find herself falling for him, given that he basically saves her ass on countless occasions, but him? I don't know. Either way, one thing that I didn't like so much was the tease of them finally consummating their attraction or love for each other. It was frustrating. Also, I'm not sure their relationship would be so forbidden in real life, per se. It happens all the time. Look at Hunter Biden (Joe Biden's son) and his big brother, Beau's widow? They are together now. Also world-renowned mountaineer, Conrad Anker is married to his deceased best friend's (another well-know mountaineer, Alex Lowe) widow and raised their kids as his own. Alex died in a climbing accident he was on with Conrad! Anyway, you see where I'm going. I also didn't care for the cliffhanger so much, but we'll see where this goes in Book 2.

4.5 stars. It was great! I love the writing style of this author. I laughed, I became angry and also emotional on some parts. It ended with a cliff hanger and can’t wait to read how the love story will continue to develop or wither away?

This was an ok start to the new series. I loved this author's previous series. Every book ends too soon, but the end is worth it. I gave this book 3 stars because of the ridiculous amount of grammar and contextual errors--so much so, that I was confused several times on which character was speaking or thinking. The errors began in the "about this book".

I trust this author, so I will definitely pick up the next book in the series. But, as for book 1, the characters were tough to like, empathize or care about. The writing was uneven and I expect more and want more from this author.

Should you read the book? I'd say start with the Revenge series then give this book a try. I honestly hope the electronic version was an error and has since been corrected with the proper edits.

Ok read but drawn out

Good story but so drawn out that I found myself skipping forward. I liked the build up attraction between the couple, but that too was unnecessarily long, and did not culminate until more than 75% through the book. The heroine in parts was just annoying, selfish, indecisive, not really worthy of the hero who remained strong and dedicated the entire tale. The rendition of the baby was adorable. Not one of her best pieces, though the ending does spark my interest in the next part.

Ummm...ok

Just ok. I dont see the spark between Stella and Rocco. I missed the spark so it makes me feel like I missed something in the story. I honestly dont see why they even like each other.

Enemies to lovers

I've read this book about three times can't believe it took me this long to write a review. Anyway obviously I love the book in read to THREE times come on now, this is a slow but worth it enemies to lovers story. And I do mean enemies Rocca and Stella can not stand each other when this book begins only time is Troy Rocca's best friend and Stella's husband also baby Blue 😊. Rocco was an completed ass to Stella but in actually he helped her gain her power and there is nothing more sexy them a man loving you enough through your pitfalls. Mrs. Burns has a way of just snatching your attention before you even realize it's to let you are way invested. SPOILER The only think I have a issue with is Mr. D ending didn't really make since that he would kill himself after how hard he went in blackmailing Stella. On to the sequel which will be my second overall read of it.

Long read

This was a really good story but it was a very long in my opinion. Stella and Rocco have known each other their whole lives, but are still connected by Troy. Troy is her husband and Rocco's best friend. They do not like each other. He thinks she is a spoiled grown woman who doesn't do anything for herself. She thinks he is a womanizing jerk who treats her so bad. Then something awful happens, Troy dies. This story is about how their relationship changes because of Troy's death. I can admit I didn't like him at first but then as I read I didnt like her either. As the story progresses they both seem to grow up and become better people. I did enjoy this book it just felt overly detailed in many places which made it unnecessarily long but hey that's just my opinion. It is still a really good book so make sure you pick it up!

If you don't read to the END YOU'LL MISS IT!

LIKE WHOA....I read some of the negative reviews and realized I needed to see for myself what it do! First of all...some people have issues they want to read erotica but want the characters to be SQEAKY CLEAN....come again???!!! I grew up in the BIBLE BELT I know these snakes have 2 faces. If you cannot handle the content of a book MORALLY just keep it moving. Its not polite to bash an author's writing because you do not like the subject matter. Ms. Burns gave a description and it details the storyline. This is a Trevion Burns special it is well written and the characters grow and develop, they hate they LOVE. I almost gave this novel a 4 only because of a few grammatical errors. I was so enthralled with the book I overlooked some surface issues. The end HAD ME SCREAM AWWW Hell NAW "GAME ON". I'm on board for BOOK II!!!

Oh ...Snap😬

I knew it....I knew it....I knew it...I read in between the lines.....there's a thin line between love and hate....I knew that...I knew Rocco and Stella were careening to the inevitable....the were too many clues....took much sexual tension...too much denial....and definitely too much static amongst friends and family about Rocco going after his dead best friend's wife...but I also do not remember anything about Troy's body being found....so therefore I knew the storyline had to end the way it did...I love baby Blue.

I so glad I found this hidden gem!! I admit I was confused a couple times with the time skips but they were cleared up with a little further reading. (FYI time skip is not years more like days or weeks) I’ve read plenty of books I thought deserved a 5 star rating but this….! I can honestly say I have NEVER read a book that was a slow burn and made my heart beat in anticipation, feel joy, and laugh wholeheartedly. I admit I was abit uncomfortable with their relationship at first. But this is written SO well I can not but hope to see their love beat every odd stack against them!!

Trevino Burns what can do say but damn you did it again!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥I have to give you five fires cause you damn sure brought it! But I knew baby daddy was gonna eff up all homegirls plans I was Yessssssss!!! Cause she sure didn't wait long enough to grieve. He asked Rocco to take care of his girls so I feel he was wrong. I know you can't help who you fall in love with but those two were a definite No No!!!!!

Rocco is the classic anti hero that you will hate until you begin to love him. He is at first boorish, hateful, a disrespectful and unapologetic man whore but he is also as loyal as the day is long and so when his best friend asks him to take care of his wife when he goes to a war zone for work, he puts his dreams on hold to do so even though he really hates her. This story is so good.

Darn that Devereux!!!

I am enamored with Rocco and Stella (especially Pappa Wak)!!! I halted my reading of "Forbidden" for DAYS because I was so distraught over the Stella/Devereux situation and the possible outcomes! Oh ye, of little faith! I should have known that Trevion would be on point with that situation! I did not, however, see that ending coming!!!

Good read. Liked the characters.

I read some of the reviews before I read this book and a couple of readers didn’t like the two main characters but I loved them. Yeah Stella was a spoiled housewife at first but she grew. And I didn’t think Rocco was mean just very blunt. I just downloaded part 2 because that ending had my mouth hanging opened.

I’m torn

I was torn between a 3.5 and 4 on this one. In the beginning I was not sure about this book as I REALLY didn’t like either of the main characters. Luckily as the book went on they grew on me as the book went on. Fun story and good enough for me to want to read the next book!

Thin line between love and hate

Stella and Rocco can't stand each other. Then tragedy forces them together, reluctantly. Forced to put up with each other because of some bad decisions.

This has a cliffhanger

Trevion at her best. She winds you up and then watches you crash. I can't say more but just know that she is not afraid to explore you worst fears. Worth the read but when is part two due?

Fire from beginning to end. At first Stella seemed like an airhead. Especially spending money she didn't have. Roc forced her to dig deep and find herself. I hate cliffhangers!
