What do you do when you wake up in a hotel room beside a tattooed man with a face that makes Tom Hardy look like the bottom of a shoe? You fight through your tequila-induced haze, trip over his designer suit crumpled on the floor, and run. After all, you’re 1,500 miles from home. It’s not like you’ll ever see him again. Unless you’re me. Fast forward six months and I somehow find myself in the middle of a bet with Mr. Tall, Dark, and Tattooed that includes me owing him four dates. Four dates with an arrogantly charming man whom I know little about, what could possibly go wrong? I’ll tell you what’s going wrong, my falling asleep in his arms on date three and realizing I’m in love with a man who doesn’t even know my real name.
Well, I clicked "read" button but actually after reading a few chapters of utmost stupidity, I stopped reading this book and just skimmed and scanned to see how worse it gets... Yes, and it does get worse, indeed!
I saw my friend Alex's review, which was only one sentence. She says, "I'm at a loss for words." And this is how I really feel now. I just cannot find words to describe how bad this book is! But, I'll try.
*********************************************
We are told that the hero & heroine meet and have a one-night-stand but we are not given those pages of first meet & click etc. The book begins when she wakes up from this one-night-stand with no memory of the previous night whatsoever! She just runs away from his hotel room.
The book loses me there because I don't know the moment they first see each other, the first moment they feel attracted to one another. I don't know what they talked about, I don't know how their first kiss was or I don't know what attracted them to each other. Hell, I even don't know what their f*ck-fest of a night was like! Nope, nothing. All through the book, we are never given a glimpse of that night.
And that's why, I never felt their chemistry or connection at all!
*********************************************
The book fast forwards to "6 months later" and they meet again!
Of course, he wants to meet her again and she is scared of an intimidating hot guy like him so she hesitates a bit but she always agrees to the dates in the end.
However, it doesn't go on like a normal romance as the guy talks about freeing her from her boundaries and gifting her with sexual freedom and comfort - by for example f*cking her in front of strangers watching their live-porn!
Yeap, you read it right - our hero says his hobby is pleasing people with their sexual fantasies.
For a moment I thought he was an escort but nope, he is a rich businessman who indulges in sex clubs where he meets swingers and helps them with their fantasies.
*********************************************
Oh oh, there is a wonderful background story to it, as well.
When he was a child, a horrible tragedy happens and her mother blames him. She never shows love or affection to him. Whatever he does, he cannot please his mum....
And, yes, you guessed it, right? Cause it is so obvious... He now pleases other people sexually. Since "he couldn't please his mum at all!", if you still couldn't make the connection... And if you couldn't, don't worry, I still cannot :)))
That's the psychological reasoning behind it! LMAO, really!
*********************************************
Yeah yeah, somewhere in the process, he develops feelings for her and although he strips her bare in a sex club full of people, he then takes her to a private room to make love to her!!!! All because he has understood she is his cure to all his worries and inadequacies... or some BS like that!
*********************************************
The characters that are impossible to like:
The heroine is a marriage counselor... who doesn't know how to speak or communicate. A total idiot! How she can treat any patients and give them relationship advice is a mystery to me!
And she describes her body in the most awful ways (Tits that look like tube socks with tennis balls shoved inside them…) and sorry but when the hero says how magnificent she looks, I couldn't help but think of those tits that look like tube socks with tennis balls shoved inside them... Aghhh... Why would the writer make the heroine define herself in the most awful ways like this?
As a heroine, we have a woman who has no self-confidence, who cannot put two words together to save her life and acts like a silly 14-year-old girl all the time and as a hero, we have a hot rich guy who dreams of f*cking the heroine in a room full of people! Such a peachy romance, huh?!
She is so clumsy that packing a suitcase and getting to an airport to catch a plane is an impossible task for her. With all her stupidity and clumsiness, she cannot board on a plane and because she also loses her phone during this process, she cannot let him know she needs his help! As I said, you can rarely find such a stupid woman.
And for the life of me, call him sexual deviant or not, I don't know what to call him but really, I couldn't understand why he was attracted to her! She was such a mess!
*********************************************
I didn't hesitate to pick up this book and read because I read "A love so tragic" by this writer and gave it 5 stars. So I thought this would be something good.
I am really shocked that the writer who wrote such a good book once now comes up with this ridiculous story that I couldn't stand reading page by page but just scanned... Such a pity, indeed!
*********************************************
Writing is 1st person point of view (the heroine's), except for the epilogue written by the hero. 183 pages.
Para no perder tiempo, Falling In Between no me gusto. No solo porque esta repleta de cliches y de escenas muy predecibles sino tambien porque esperaba una historia mas ligera y dulce, no una version muuuy avinagrada de Cincuenta Sombras De Grey.
Ever read a book that made you absolutely happy? Ever read a book that made you forget about reality for little while? Ever read a book that gave you a good time and brought a smile to your face? Ever read a book with storyline so fantastic that you want to shout it out to the world? My gosh, Falling in Between by Stevie J. Cole was that book. I adored Falling in Between. Absolutely stunning. Absolutely breathtaking. Absolutely charming. I was completely entranced. By the effortless plot. By the spellbinding and incredible characters. I love Stevie J. Cole. To me, she is known for writing crazy dark books that make me go insane. (True story). But she can write a damn good contemporary romance. I was floored. I was shocked. I simply indulged on a perfect romance that gave me goosebumps. Falling in Between will kindle a flame on your soul. It will stir a spark in your heart. A remarkable romance that make your heart jump with joy.
Falling in Between was compelling. Falling in Between was freaking orgasmic. Falling in Between was a powerful drug running through my veins. My heart soared. My soul split. My body felt the heat and the passion. Falling in Between stroked every single emotion out of me. I laughed. I smiled. I cried. A easy going romance that melted my heart. A rampant plot that ravished me. Absolutely flawless. Sensation. Devastatingly dirty. Sexually explosive. Falling in Between was an erotic romance that promised laughter, emotion and a feel good soulfulness that captured everything inside me. Deadly to my senses. Intoxicating to my mind. I fully escaped reality with the sultry and utterly heavenly book. Stevie J. Cole can write anything and I will read it. She pulls you deep into her rabbit hole with her skillful writing and addictive prose. Falling in Between was a sexy read but it had also had a message. To me, Falling in Between is a fictional romance but it taught me to be brave. Never be afraid to take risks. Be happy. Always follow your heart.
Charlie and Elijah stole both my heart and soul. The sexual tension was electric. They were sexy, passionate and seductively hot couple that I burned. I kind of feared for my kindle. SMOKING HOT!!!!!!!!Charlie kind of reminds me of me. Lol. Awkward. Shy. Sassy. Adorable AF. In a way, I 100% related to her. Elijah was an enigma. Omg. Alpha. Sexy as sin. Rich. Sophisticated. I think my panties needed a change or two when I was reading. He made me weak in the knees. Well, almost every alpha I read makes me weak lol. Elijah, you are in the club. Make Tanaka Weak Club. LOL.
Falling in Between was fun, passionate and hilarious. It was an romantic comedy I utterly needed in my life. Definite must read. Stevie J. Cole, I have a request. Please write Steph's book. She is the drunk version of me lol. I love her to bits.
ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review.
Charlie thought she was having a divorce party in Mexico with her best friend. Little did she know the man she wakes up to one morning (with no memory of the night before) she might be seeing again very soon.
Yes this story is about Elijah and Charlie but first, I must say Charlie's best friend was funny as hell. She had me laughing out loud several times. In fact, there were a lot of laugh at loud moments for me through out the book.
Now, Let me get back to Elijah and Charlie. Elijah I loved from the get go. He was mysterious so I was a little worried at first but he turned out amazing. Charlie had her good moments for me and there was a time I wanted to shake some sense in to her, but that's okay.
Over all it was a cute, fun read and I must say I enjoyed the lighter side of Stevie.

I'm going to start off by saying that I fell for Cole's work with her dark romances so I honestly didn't know what I was getting into when I started Falling In Between. I'm happy to report that I liked the softer, sweet side as well.
While on vacation, Charlie drinks too much tequila and ends up naked in bed with one of the most handsome men she's ever met. Problem is, she doesn't remember a thing about it. When fate happens to put these two in each other's path again, she knows she's in trouble. Who could resist that beautifully tatted and powerful man?
"He treats seduction like a fine art, like he's Van Gogh, Picasso, and I'm the blank canvas begging for the stroke of his brush."
Whew, let me tell you, not only does Elijah know the art of seduction but's probably the most patient and persistent man ever. What I loved the most about him was the fact that he didn't hide what he wanted, he told Charlie aka Demi what he was feeling and he was totally into all her quirks. He pushed her to her limit and followed right behind her.
Falling In Between is the perfect balance of sweet, sexy and angst. If you want to be wooed and have your heart stolen then you need to read this book!
Falling In Between by Stevie J. Cole 5 Tiger Lily Stars
Ever picked up a book and when finished said, that’s just the book I needed to read? Super steamy, laugh out Loud moments, Hot Tattooed man, and a story that just draws you in from the beginning.
Marriage therapist Charlie aka Demi, is on vacation with her two Besties celebrating her recent divorce. Tequila and a nice warm beach is the perfect therapy, right?
Well, you know the saying…Tequila makes your clothes come off. That’s exactly what happened to Charlie. Although she doesn’t remember what exactly transpired in that hotel room before she did the walk of shame the next morning… But one thing was for certain, that body, those tattoos, that member hiding under the sheets… She would never forget.
Out of the millions of people who vacation in Mexico, who would have ever thought??? Sure enough… Right there he is, in NYC at the grocery store.
He treats seduction like a fine art, like he’s Van Gogh. Picasso, and I’m the blank canvas begging for the stroke of his brush.
Good night, if we could just bottle up and make a mold of Elijah!!! There would be millions of satisfied women walking around!!! Where do I sign up to be a tester???
Totally enjoyed this one. Light and fast paced super steamy, romantic with some pretty awesome laugh out loud moments!
FALLING IN BETWEEN by STEVIE J. COLE is the story of Charlie Williams and Elijah Banks. Charlie wakes up in bed with Elijah when on vacation with her two friends. Slipping out of the room with the mind set to never see him again and leave her one night stand only to run into him back home. Elijah is still hot and still sets her on fire and he too wants her. But can this chance meeting turning into something more? Really enjoyed their hot story!
This was a nice easy read. Full of love and friendships. Older woman (35yrs) and hot young billionaire (28yrs). Elijah was awesome, i loved him. Charlie was recently divorced and was not looking for love, but woke up next to Elijah one morning after a drunken night out and then ran out on him. They meet 6 mths later and so the whirlwind begins. Told from only Charlie’s POV, I would have much preferred this story be told by both Elijah and Charlie as we did’nt get enough insight into Elijah.
Strange book this one, it started off all quip a minute, trying super hard to be funny then veered off into an emotional read towards the end.
I’d like to have understood what attracted him to her a little better - it all began when she woke up next to him with alcohol fuelled amnesia and so I feel like a missed a crucial bit of their chemistry there.
Still, a decent read. Complete story and available on ku.
I keep trying with this author. This story got on my nerves. Charlie is a mess and Elijah is alpha billionaire. I do not get any chemistry from them together. At all.
I don't picture him like cover model either. So I'm glad it was short enough to not waste my time.
Parts were hilarious but as I was watching so hard for chemistry or connection I didn't fully enjoy banter between her and her friends. Shame that.
I loved scenes of New York. Kink didn't even need to be in book. Pretty disappointed in Charlie character.
The premise of this book sounded good but it didn't live up to my expectations. I didn't like Charlie/Demi, she was pathetic and irritating and not deserving of someone like Elijah. It was just a weird story and I didn't enjoy it.
I have read a couple of Stevie‘s books before and I have to say this was a lighter side to her. It is a cute and funny book with laugh out loud moments. Charlie is on vacation in Mexico to celebrate her recent divorce with her two best friends. She has too much to drink one night and ends up waking up with a stranger in her bed. Fare steps in when she is back in New York City and puts her mystery man, Elijah, back in her path again. Elijah has the art of seduction down to a T.... and he has his sights set on Charlie. Will Charlie give into this tatted up one night stand?
Awwwwww! I loved this weirdly erotic, laugh out loud, quirky book! I've only read Cole's dark side. This one was totally different but just as good!
I laughed so hard. Planes and bridges and El Chapo and fake names and everything in between. This was such a fun read. Waking up in Mexico with a sexy stranger makes an interesting opening. I was cracking up.
Demi was the fake identity I used in college, one I thought fit my personality better than Charlie. I mean, I’m named after my dad. My dad, who is an asshole. No guy wants to groan, “Charlie, you’re so wet for me.” Unless it’s guys like Spreadsheet Harold, certainly not El Chapo here.
It all goes downhill or uphill from there. I loved the mystery of Elijah, not knowing how he felt or why he did and said the things that made my heart soar and panties wet. I was on the edge of my seat like Charlie. What's he playing at? That's probably the only thing I could criticize about the entire book, I wanted to know what happened in Mexico to warrant such electricity from him. My kindle is still smoking. Fun-loving, light-hearted, yet somewhere in between, feelings start to take root. I was hanging onto every single word, hoping and praying this book would end on a good note. I gotta say, I finished with a huge smile on my face.
If you're in the mood for a sexy, steamy, romantic comedy, this one checks all the boxes. It's delicious and addictive!
Just yuk- and I can take a lot of bad language but this was a bit OTT for me. That man and his potty mouth should definitely never have kids! Could not sustain my interest in these two rather unlikeable characters.
Me gustó.
I loved the beginning of this book, three friends all on holiday celebrating their divorce. I laughed so many times at the banter and Witt with these three friends.
Charlie was likeable, socially awkward, a woman with very little confidence also she was a marriage councillor who ironically had just gone through a divorce. Charlie wakes up after a day and night of many drinks with her friends, she really finally allowed herself to live a little but when she looks at her surroundings she finds herself in the bed of a man who looks like he belongs in a fashion magazine, this is the first glimpse of Charlie's awkwardness and lack of confidence, Charlie then leaves without giving the mystery man her real name. The scene was funny and even funnier when she couldn't remember a thing and thought he may have been a Mafia boss or something when re-capping the morning to her friends who then began to name the mystery man El Chapo.
“You slept with him and don’t remember how it was?” I close my eyes and inhale. “Not really. Bits and pieces.” “That’s depressing.” She glances at my crotch. “I’m so sorry your owner hates you.” She’s seriously talking to my vagina.
Although I could have read about Charlie and her friends all the way through this book because I loved them so much the plot got even more interesting when Fate stepped in and back home Charlie bumped into Elijah who by the way thought her name was Demi because she had also given him a false name, so for the remainder of the story she was Demi and Charlie being Chalie never corrected him and just went along with it.
I loved this fate filled romance, I loved that Charlie got a chance at real love with a sexy man with a dirty mouth who completely swept her off her feet. Elijah may have been a bit of a mystery and alluring, a businessman, a wealthy man but boy did he also have the swoon factor.
"Elijah Banks is a category-5 hurricane, one you stand on the shore and watch roll in. You wait for the waves to strike and drag you out into a tumultuous sea. And now, here I am, just waiting".
Elijah and Charlie begin dating, the relationship has an expiration date, Elijah is moving to London . The countdown to Elijah going away gives Charlie the chance to feel free, have an attitude of you only live once and she tries her best to keep her heart at a distance. Feelings weren't meant to get involved, the days were ticking by but like all plans it doesn't always go how you would expect. Elijah is charming and enticing, I mean, what woman wouldn't fall for Elijah Banks?
"He’s intoxicating. Every hour I spend with him, each kiss, complicates things. It threatens to involve my heart in something that will prove to be fatal.
An interesting plot with hot moments, I loved it. What I couldn't get my head around was Elijah's interest and activity's in a sex club prior to meeting Charlie, I didn't think this fitted in with the plot, there was enough going on without this titbit of info into Elijah's activity's prior to meeting Charlie, it didn't turn out to be a book about a man and a sex club though thankfully, there was a lot more to the story than that trope that I have quite frankly had enough of.
FALLING IN BETWEEN is a lot of things, it starts off feeling like a ROM-com then gets a little more serious and sexy as the plot continues, its about second chances, new beginnings, it's romantic, hot, and heartwarming it's also recommended read by Stevie J. Cole.
Charlie Williams is on vacation to celebrate her divorce with her two BFF's. Waking up one morning next to a stranger was not part of her plans... and she ran out of there as fast as she could. Back home in NYC, fate steps in and her sexy mystery man falls right back into to her life... and this time he isn't letting her run away so easily.
Elijah Banks is a man who enjoys the pleasures that life has to offer. He is extremely open and adventurous with sex, and thinks Charlie needs to let some of her inhibitions go... and he wants to be the one to finally set her free...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a great read, with their sexy yet complicated relationship that has a looming expiration date, Charlie and Elijah's fling slowly starts to become so real and unforgettable, will they ever be able to walk away from each other in the end...
Charlie is super neurotic and also incredibly scared to get hurt again in another failed relationship. Not remembering much from her one night stand she shared with Elijah, she still recognizes her undeniable attraction she has to him every time she sees him. Although understandable, she drove me a little crazy with how much she holds herself back from being with him and is constantly sabotaging herself.
Elijah is a very successful businessman, he is sinfully sexy and knows what he wants in bed, and he is not afraid to ask for it. He wants to get Charlie to open up and experience life the way he envisions she can, but he also realizes she needs a little push here and there to help her along the way. And while his hobby is something that initially draws Charlie to him, will it also be the same thing that ultimately pushes her away...
I really enjoyed this book! It featured a lot of sexual encounters between Elijah and Charlie, and was yet still a slow burn romance set to sizzle. Written almost entirely in Charlies perspective, I would have loved more from Elijah! He was such an interesting and swoony character, and I needed MORE from him!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
There are almost eight billion people in this world, and, of course, leave it to me to have a filthy one night stand in Mexico with a man who shops at my grocery store.
Celebrating her divorce in Mexico with her (also recently divorced) friends, Charlie ends up drinking a little too much tequila and finds herself naked in bed with a ridiculously hot, tattooed stranger the next morning. She makes a hasty and embarrassingly hilarious exit, her dignity may have been left on the floor of this man’s hotel room but she can live with it because she never expects to see him again. Fast forward a few months and she finds herself face-to-face with the very man she ran out on back in Mexico and, much to her dismay, it turns out that he remembers everything about that night - including the fake name she gave him, oops. Now Charlie finds herself agreeing to four dates with this man as part of a bet. Their arrangement has an expiration date so she figures her heart is safe but the more time she spends with Elijah the more she realizes she’s totally screwed because she’s starting to fall for a man who doesn’t even know her real name.
“I promise we’ll keep it casual. Somewhere between strangers and lovers.”
I had such a fun time reading this book! It’s a quick book and the perfect thing for a light and sexy summer read. Charlie was a hot mess but she was hysterical. I laughed so much at her quirks and inner dialogue. I loved seeing her with her friends, Steph and Dani. The three of them together were a lot of fun. It was also hilarious to see how awkward Charlie was around Elijah. She was a bit of a headcase sometimes but Elijah was so great when dealing with her. It was easy to fall in love with Elijah. Being that the book is told entirely from Charlie’s POV, he had an air of mystery around him and I enjoyed learning more and more about him as the story went on. There’s really great character development along the way and I enjoyed seeing how much both of them had evolved by the end. This story is pretty low on angst but there is a bit thrown in here and there. Overall this was a lighthearted, funny, and quite steamy read – the perfect thing for a lazy summer afternoon!
This man is like a drug. Strong. Completely addictive. Absolutely something I do not need, but God, do I crave him.
The only thing this book didn't do was make me cry! Laugh...check Snort...check Aspirate flavored water...more than once! (Do not drink flavored beverages while read and absolutely stay away from carbonated drinks. Trust me!!!!) Choke on the words...in the best way possible.
Stevie J. Cole has made me a believer. Cancun will be the only place on my list for a post divorce bash! ( It seems like I'm tempting fate, having read this on my anniversary but I think I made a solid choice.)
Reckless decisions and mass qualities of alcohol can lead to all kinds of debauchery...or awkwardness. And our heroine has an A+ for awkward. I love quirky leading ladies and Ms. Cole gave us a prime candidate. For all my fellow awkward ladies with mildly awkward to full on train wreck tendencies, Charlie is the poster child for our species. I may not rock Chuck Taylor's (my arches) but with high heel immunity and t-shirt and jeans being my wardrobe staples- I know Charlie would be in my circle. Add in her sense of humor, her slight crazy, and her sass- instant bestie.
Now that Charlie and I are celebrating our new status update...I just have to figure out how to steal her man. Nothing personal Charlie but...DAMN! Everyone I know needs some of that! But um I don't share so...Charlie, you have to go!
Tell her! Stevie J. Cole, tell her he's mine. Tell her it was a typo, her name is Becky. I don't care what you tell her because that man, El Chapo, is MINE!!!!!
At first, for some dumb reason, I thought this would be a romantic comedy, especially with the well-drawn secondary characters who had me laughing out loud. But the H/h relationship was so sad and scary and real that I had to school myself. I had no stinking clue. No clue. Like, none.
I fell in love with the real emotions that the characters had, the valid reasons to step back, and the way I never got what I expected from the story. Not once through the whole story did ANYBODY do what I told them to.
This is normally the stage where I go in and buy everything else an author has written, but this is the first time I've felt entirely too much. There's going to be some processing happening before I read something else, because I have no idea where to go next.
I can't even describe what this book did to me. I related to the heroine on so many levels, and even to some extent, the hero. At any rate, I finished it 5 minutes ago, and I'm still shaking. I need ice cream.
For my first book by Stevie J Cole, I am hooked. This book was sexy hilarious and so enjoyable. Charlie is on a divorce vacation with her best friends; she gets a little too drunk on tequila and has a one-night stand with a Hot Tattooed Stranger. Six months later, Charlie has a run in with her one-night stand Elijah (BEST NAME EVER) and somehow she ends up agreeing to four dates with this man. Can Charlie get over her insecurities to give this relationship a real chance? Is she ever going to tell Elijah her real name?
I was stuck in this book until the end and was holding my breath during the last couple of chapters. The best part about this book is not only the main characters but Charlie’s best friends Steph and Dani. Steph is a scene stealer and her one-liners had me laughing so hard that I had tears. I am so hoping that we will get books for Steph and Dani.
"There are almost eight billion people in this world, and, of course leave it to me to have a filthy one night stand in Mexico with a man who shops at my grocery store."
Fun, flirty, hilarious, and hot, I had an absolute blast reading this one!! The antics of the characters kept me completely entertained from start to finish, and I couldn't put it down!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!
