1,000 feet under the surface, Prehistoric Anthropologist, Ash Barrington, and his team are in the midst of a great archeological dig at the bottom of Lake Superior where they find a treasure trove of bones. Bones of dinosaurs that aren't supposed to be in this particular region. In their underwater facility, Infinity Moon, Ash and his team soon discover a series of underground tunnels. Upon exploring, they accidentally open an ice pocket, thawing the prehistoric creature trapped inside. Soon they are being attacked, the facility falling apart around them, by what Ash knows is a dunkleosteus and all those bones were from its prey. Now...Ash and his team are the prey and the creature will stop at nothing to get to them.

Although I've been a dinosaur fan my entire life, my two favorite monsters from the Paleozoic Era were Dunkleosteous and Inostrancevia. The fossils of Dunkleosteous reveal a terrifying prehistoric sea monster with a suit of armor over its entire head, including bony shields over its eyes!
The this an extremely action-packed novel, and the monster fish makes a great villain who behaves exactly as I imagined him.
But as everyone points out, the word stomach uses a stupid mixed capitalization every time it appears that Amazon has yet to fix, so I deducted one star for that. I suspect the author did a global search and replace for an acronym while carelessly butchering that specific word.
This is a recipe of several parts. Take a dash of Peter Benchley a pinch of Steve Alten, mix in some lovecraft for flavor and bake in a Dystopian near future full of mutant monsters and a cold blooded billionaire. This is the world of the Guillotine. A world that was touched in Leviathan: Ghost Rig is explored a bit more here. What was promised as the find of the century turns into a nightmare that leaves you in the edge of your seat wanting more. And I do Mr. Pederson.... I want more of this rich world you've created, I want to find out what happens to Ash.. And I REALLY want something to eat Murdock Jones! So this is me standing before you with my Kindle in hand saying Please sir may i have some more?
Pederson does it again with his action packed underwater thriller, Guillotine. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page!
Brilliantly spooky. Lucas at his very best. He knows how to write. Draws you in and never lets go. A prehistoric fish is let loose in one of the Great Lakes. Would you help catch it or kill it? Read and join Ash on his quest. This book had me on the edge of my seat AND reaching for the tissues.
Grammatically sort of sloppy. If it was self edited, it shouldn’t have been. If someone was hired to do this then they should be let go. This book had the word stomach in it frequently and it was consistently written as stoMach, which drove me insane. The plot wasn’t bad, but the writing was forced. It was pushed too far, too quickly, and the whole story suffered for it. I enjoy books like these, typically, but this one in particular was just okay.
Action and mechs. Thought the mechs would do better then they did. Not enough information on how the world got to its current state. Need a little back story. How big was this Dunk? Normal is 33 feet and a Baliosauras is about 62 feet, how could a Dunk swallow a Baliosauras up to its head? Kept my interest trying too see what the Dunk would do next.
This could have been a great story, but so much is wrong. First, every time they use the word stomach, it’s spelled stoMach! Do some basic editing. The story was short and stilted. What’s going on, they say the world has changes, but don’t tell us much. Skip this one!
I’m not actually sure if I liked this book or not. I definitely could not stop reading even when I found some parts irritating enough to make me stop reading. Yet i still continued to read and I finished. But still undecided. Will say I definitely like the concept of a post-apocalypse world idea. Hope author does more with it.
Awful awful awful book. Terribly written, with flat or non-existent characters, generic action, and some of the most non-sensical plot points I've ever read. Grade Z junk. If you want to read "monster gets released and terrorizes people" there are plenty of better ones put there.
The store was alright. But if I have to be honest it was all over the place. Like in the beginning, we were talking about mutants and then at the end we're in mechs. Overall, it's OK if you just have nothing else to read.

This is some brutal creature. I googled it (come on you know we all do that as soon as an author mentions any kind of dinosaur other than the basic T Rex or his friends), and he's...awful. The descriptions of it and what it does, are amazing and shows it to be a thing from nightmares. Deep sea (or deep lake) stories, and then tunnels (oh god no), and unwittingly allowing this monster to get out and terrorize them is just such a wonderful plot. I was thinking about this beast for a long time afterward. Good story.
