In the beginning new world of TV sets, washing machines, refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves and a host of small appliances. Ian Muir’s meticulous planning and careful staffing helped him survive hard times and cut-throat competition. Muir’s was a true family business: Ian’s wife Joan became an early director; his daughter Carolyn worked in the business and operated motels, and his accountant son Andrew would oversee a new era of expansion from the mid-1990s. … Muir’s became The Good Guys and expanded to all Australian states, morphing into a mega business of over 100 stores, and oustripping all other electrical retailers to become the market leader.
