Captain Reena Charlisse Hyde always gets what she wants. She wanted to be the best female pirate on the Caribbean and she is. She wants to find the mythical Fountain of Youth and she knows the location of the map. And now after searching across the Caribbean for the man she intends to marry, she has found him. There are only two problems. He doesn't want to be found, and he's on board a Royal Navy frigate—the last place a pirate should venture.

Frederick Carlton thought he was finally safe from the woman who held his heart. But her attempt to rescue him labels him a deserter from the Royal Navy. He’s turned his life over to God and plans on being a preacher, but every moment he spends with Reena drives him deeper into a past he longs to forget.

Mutinies, deserted islands, treasure maps, battles, traitors, and villains send the couple sailing on a tsunami of adventure throughout the Caribbean in search of the Fountain of Youth. Frederick longs to escape the lure of the woman he loves. Reena longs for Frederick to love her again. But in the end, they will both have to choose between eternal youth or the lives of everyone they love.

Adventure on the high-seas is calling! Ms. Tyndall has penned a wonderful story of pirates, danger, mutiny, treasure maps and the search for the Fountain of Youth. She has filled the story with an eclectic cast of characters that will entertain her readers on this adventurous tale on the high-seas. It is the spiritual warfare that surrounds her characters that takes center stage in this story, presenting her readers with a thought-provoking theme. In whom/what do we place our trust? What is it we seek the most? On what do we place the most value?

I have loved all the books in this series, but for some reason this one was different for me. The adventure was there. The twists were there. The faith was there. I just had a hard time getting into it. Reena's obsession with youth and getting Fredrick back (which mostly seemed to be back in her bed) drove me crazy. She seemed to be a broken record. I loved Fredrick. He was unselfish, truly good and a real hero. I was glad the story was told from both POVs, because his sections got me through the book.

Be sure to get your sea legs on, mateys, for yer about to go on another exhilarating high seas adventure straight from the quill of MaryLu Tyndall! 'The Reckless' is indeed a whimsical journey complete with swashbuckling pirates, nefarious villains, and an action-packed treasure hunt set against the backdrop of the gorgeous turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

Reena Hyde, although an infamous pirate captain, is not so unlike many young ladies of today. Tough as nails, yet vulnerable, with her sights set on things below...her beauty, wealth, and using her feminine wiles on the man of her choice—not caring a whit about her soul. The charming and hunky, Frederick Kent, is a changed man by God's grace. Having been conceived in violence and an ex-pirate, he often lets his past define him...never feeling quite good enough for God's love. Will he be able to withstand his worst temptation yet, in the form of the beautiful Reena?

I love how Tyndall delves deeply into the hearts and minds of her characters, exposing satan's tactics and lies, while weaving an exciting, intricate plot surrounding them. Excitement, romance, and pirates—what could be better? And be sure to hold on to yer tricorns because a tumultuous, seafaring wind will be blowing some surprises your way!

Come an enjoy an adventure on the high sea's with Pirate Captain Reena Hyde, an independent, feisty young woman. Reena knows what she wants and she doesn't let anything hold her back from going after it.

A multitude of exciting adventure to enjoy in the pages of this story! From the expected sword fights and a treasure map to villains, traitors, and mutinies. You are sure to enjoy this exciting, fast-paced tale of adventure.

Will Reena find the mythical Fountain of Youth or will she find something even better? If you enjoy Pirate stories and adventure you won't want to pass up this exciting story from Author MaryLu Tyndall.

As much as I enjoyed the pacing, the characters, and the adventure, there were a few areas where I personally was a bit uncomfortable. There is the occasional mention of encounters the characters have with demons or evil spirits. This may or may not affect anyone else's opinion of the story, but for me, I would have enjoyed the story more without those parts.

With plenty of swashbuckling adventure to enjoy, and excitement on every page I give this story 4 stars. If you enjoy reading stories with high adventure, you will want to snag a copy of this newly released story for yourself!

Captain Reena Hyde is a pirate who chases–and usually gets–everything she wants. And the two things she has her eyes set on now–eternal youth and the love of her life, Frederick Carlton–seem right within her grasp. Except they aren’t. Frederick, an ex-pirate turned Christian, has no desire to return to piracy and thus be with Reena, and the map leading to the mythical Fountain of Youth–or a piece of it, at least–is within the grasp of a notorious enemy pirate, who will do anything to find it himself.

Of course, coming into this I was excited to read about Reena and Frederick, especially the latter since he featured in my favorite of Mrs. Tyndall’s books, The Reliance. And the beginning was quite entertaining, with Reena “rescuing” an unwilling Frederick from his place as chaplain aboard a navy frigate.

This instantly colorful cast of main characters endeared me to them. Both were distinct, with strong suits and weaknesses, and neither of them ever acted out of character. Reena was spunky, a commander, and was the opposite of a damsel in distress in most cases–but she was also vulnerable, weak, and needed rescuing herself on occasion. Frederick was a Christian, but still struggled with his old ways and mindset, and thus was a very believable young Christian. Most importantly though, he leaned on God to help him resist his temptations, most of the time.

I really enjoyed the side cast of characters. Abraham, an ex-slave who Reena rescued, was adorable in how much he cared for her and wanted her to make Godly choices. In fact, he was probably the wisest character in the book, save for perhaps another, spoiler otherworldly character. The little boy, Michael was super endearing as well, and those two easily were my favorites. Brodie and Jo, two others on Reena’s crew, were extremely cute, and I’m so glad they got together in the end.

The dialogue was quite distinct as well. Frederick and Reena, as the two point of view characters, both had different voices, and distinct turns of phrases. There was also a lot of dialect differences involved in the book which made it slightly hard to read at times and is what I’ve heard to avoid in my own writing. But in terms of voice, it did work to make Brodie, a Scotsman, sound different from Abraham, an African, and both of them different from Frederick and Reena, who were more educated. The villain, a Frenchman, also had his own French phrases scattered throughout, helping his voice stand out too.

As much as I enjoyed the characters, how the plot wrapped up was–well, to say the least, it felt a bit sudden and contrived. In order to avoid spoilers, let’s just say a major character gets saved and suddenly makes a decision that essentially nullifies a huge portion of the story. There were also a couple other small things which gave me pause–such as Reena’s attempt at “rescuing” Frederick on the navy frigate. She jumps overboard, pretending she can’t swim, and he jumps in to save her–yet everyone aboard thinks he’s deserting? They literally saw a woman fall overboard and he jumped after her, and yet that constitutes desertion? And Reena coming to Christ did seem a bit sudden to me still, even though there was some build up to it.

The other elements of the story were well grounded, however. The pirates and their behavior, the different towns they visited, the sword battles and injuries sustained, and the romance between Reena and Frederick were executed well and realistically. And I loved seeing the cast of characters from the previous books getting some scene time too!

Probably my biggest surprise with this book was how different it was from the prior three. It wasn’t shockingly different–it’s still a pirate story, after all–but there were a lot more fantastical elements to The Reckless than in the previous books I read. Angels and demons, visions and seer dreams–I do not recall these elements in the first three books, and I was a little surprised to find them here. And while they went with the story, in my opinion, they just didn’t mesh well with an adventurous pirate story.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for adding in Christian elements of angels and demons and spiritual warfare–but in a fantasy book. Or maybe very occasionally in other genres. I mean, in the Bible itself, most people didn’t ever see angels, and those who did maybe saw one once or twice in their lives. They didn’t have continual visions of the future and demons and chains around people and so on. Again, not that I dislike this concept, but in my opinion, it belongs in more of a fantasy or speculative genre, not an adventure/historical one. I felt like this book is more of a fantasy pirate story in that case, as compared to its predecessors which were much less heavy on the fantastical elements while still having great Christian content.

But the surprising fantastical elements aside, the story went smoothly. Lots of action interspersed with character interaction and growth made the story fun and easy to read, even if I felt the plot wrapped up a bit too conveniently.

In all, though this is my least favorite of the four Marylu Tyndall novels I’ve read, I’d definitely still recommend this book to readers who enjoy clean pirate stories with fantastical elements and a strong Christian message. If you’re looking for a more traditional clean Christian pirate adventure story though, be sure to check out the first three novels in this series, as those are great and I don’t recall as much (if any) fantastical elements in them.

Rating: 3.75/5 Stars

Content Note: There are a couple references to black men called “negros” for historical context, but the main- and Christian characters are staunchly anti-racist and anti-slavery. There are also references to past “lovemaking” between an unmarried couple and a character being born out of violence and lust.

Whew...what an exciting ride! Marylu really outdid herself with this one. Frederick, a pirate turned preacher, wants nothing more than to fulfill his duty as a preacher on the Viper. Reena, a strong, stubborn pirate captain, just knows Freddy will be bored with his new found religion and decides to take it upon herself to help him rekindle his love for the open sea, adventures and her!
Search for the fountain of youth, nothing less than duplicity, beatings, mutiny, angels, and demons at every turn, this is the ride of a lifetime. I'm breathless; I feel like I was aboard the Reckless along with all the other lovable characters...don't miss this one!
Thanks to Marylu for an early release. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

MaryLu Tyndall’s latest release The Reckless captures the reader from the very first page and carries him/her through to the very end. Chockfull of relatable characters, swashbuckling pirates, and grand adventures, The Reckless tells the story of Captain Reena Hyde and Captain Frederick Carlton.

Reena and Frederick used to be the couple, but when Frederick rededicated his life to God, he found it hard to be around Reena. Now, she wants him back by her side to help her find the Fountain of Youth. But will these two be able to reconcile their differences? Will they find all that they seek?
I loved this book. Having read the others in this series, it was fun to get to hear about the lives of previous characters. But what I enjoyed most—aside from the pirate adventures, romance, and suspenseful action—was the realness of Ms. Tyndall’s characters. Reena and Frederick embody the struggle of real people—people who doubt, question, and love God. I could not put it down once I got started!

If you like pirates, adventure, romance, suspense, and great books, you’ll love The Reckless! If I had to give The Reckless a rating, I would award it 5 out of 5 stars.

What an adventure! From the first page, the characters hooked me in and wouldn’t let me go. I love MaryLu Tundall's pirate adventures, and this one did not disappoint. Though j will admit, I got very annoyed with the characters at first, but they definitely grew on me, and I really loved their character development throughout the entire series. First there’s Reena, bold, fierce, a strong pirate captain with a kind heart who's more than happy to rescue someone at the same time as stealing a fortune in treasure. She’s got an adventurous spirit and yearns for complete freedom that she believes the sea will provide. Then there’s Freddy, a man who's trying to be good, but finds it really difficult when the one woman he loved won't just let him be. The sparks fly the minute they say ‘hello' and don’t let up until the very end, and it was so fun to watch these two reconnect. Throw in an invaluable treasure, evil pirates, and a bit of spiritual warfare along with deep messages of faith, acceptance, and forgiveness and you’ve got the recipe for an awesome tale that I highly recommend.

In this 6th book in MaryLu Tyndall's 'Legacy of the King's Pirates' series, we see the daughter and son of folks we met in previous books. Reena wants to find the Fountain of Youth and is willing to forge ahead no matter the danger. Frederick has found Christ and wants no more of pirating. But he is still drawn to her. She wants nothing to do with Christ, only can think of drinking of waters that will keep her perpetually young. He knows the Living Water.

MaryLu Tyndall does a pirate tale well indeed. She makes you feel as if you are on the high seas, riding the waves as the captain shouts orders to his crew. And the spiritual message is strong, which is what I love. Recommended.

MaryLu Tyndall is a wonderful story teller. Her newest book is the 6th book in the Legacy of the Kings Pirates Series and is another great adventure of faith and romance. The characters have such personality you feel as if you know them. MaryLu has a great gift to take historical events and create a story around them. You can hardly put this book down once you start because the excitement never stops. But what I love best is the way MaryLu weaves God’s message of salvation in and around her characters. It always flows beautifully through the story and is never preachy. She incorporates spiritual realities in understandable and believable ways. If you haven’t read the first five books in this series you’re in for some sensational reading. You will not be disappointed.

I will be purchasing some books to give to my family and friends. This is a great way to share your Christian faith.

What a book, MaryLu Tyndall has another winner!  All of her books are great but especially her books on pirates.......If you like the excitement of the sounds of groaning, creaking ship's timbers as it is buffered by the storms. Deckhands skittering about to the shouts of the captain to lower the sails, the sword fights and yes, even a mutiny, then you will love the The Reckless. Especially since this pirate captain is a woman. She is the rebellious daughter of former pirates.... Reena is a bold beautiful and fierce pirate captain who has a kind heart, who has rescued many unfortunates and brought them aboard and given them work on her ship.  She can also be fierce in attacking and stealing a fortune in treasure. Now the treasure she is seeking is the Fountain of life that has been hidden and she is obsessed with finding it at the risk of her life and even the man she loves.  Even joining with an evil pirate to search for the map to the Fount.  Can the love of a godly man and her estranged godly parents overcome her obsession to find the Fountain of life and stay young forever.......An exciting tale of love and God's forgiveness.             Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author

I have loved MaryLu Tyndall’s books since I read the Red Siren a few years back. The Reckless is a part of my favorite series by Tyndall: Legacy of the King’s Pirates. There were so many things I loved about this book. I love the adventure, the romance, and the family support and commitment that is shown throughout the story. The story is appropriately entitled The Reckless as you will soon discover as you start reading this story. You will see distinct differences in the main characters. The story shows you how one changed life can impact so many others. Forgiveness is an overarching theme in this story: forgiveness from self, others, and God. There are deep elements and yet many lighthearted and fun moments, too! As always, I didn’t want to put the book down until I was done! And now I will wait (impatiently) for another book by MaryLu Tyndall! Lastly, if you haven’t read all the other books in the Legacy of the King’s Pirates series, I encourage you to check them all out!

I consider MaryLu Tyndall the queen of high seas romantic Adventures!
I was captured by this series and the tales of Pirates, privateers and faith. I will be upfront and honest in that this book was not my favorite in the series. However I did enjoy it, this is what I stumbled over. I had hard time caring for Reena in the beginning. I felt she was self centered and just a brat. The treasure hunt element of the book felt a little more fantasy to me than historical, so that kind of threw me off a bit too. Past the halfway point I started to get into it more. And bat the end I was hlied to the screen of my Kindle! I really enjoyed how the book never bogged down. There was always something happening. I loved how the author included people from the previous books, I enjoyed"seeing" them again. I also loved the tie in to the author's other book Tears of the Sea.! That was a fun tidbit to connect with this series!
As always this author has a strong element of faith, this book had a stronger supernatural twist to it. All in all it was enjoyable and a great message of God's grace and love.

Once again, Marylu has written beyond herself. As with her other books, you are transported into the world of pirates, adventure, romance, but most of all you will experience the love of Christ. So jump on board The Reckless and prepare yourself for the thrill of life as you navigate through perilous waters with Fredrick and Reena.

Well, author MaryLu Tyndall has done it again. If I said I enjoyed The Reckless, that would be SUCH an understatement! Not only are we introduced to new characters, but if you have read any of the other installments in the Legacy of the King's Pirates, you will see some of our favorites make an appearance.

MaryLu has an amazing gift. Each story gives me what I expect as far as great story telling, and I am constantly surprised that I love each book more than the previous ones. She continually and seamlessly incorporates the spiritual elements in each story, making for a wonderful and enlightening read. Thank you for making Christian fiction so much more than something just to pass the time and entertain.  In my humble opinion, she is one of the writers who sets the bar high! I am so thankful I found her books and that I took a chance on pirate stories because they have really been some of my all time favorite. I could not wait to finish The Reckless even as I hated for it to come to an end. I love the adventure, the Gospel message and romance all combined which made for a very satisfying end to the story.

“The Reckless” -- by renowned author, MaryLu Tyndall.

This book is the sixth, in the series of the “Legacy of the King’s Pirates” … but it can certainly be read alone. (However, you will miss out on a great treat … not to read the previous five books.)

“The Reckless” could not be a more fitting title for MaryLu’s newest novel ! It is the name of a sea-fearing pirate ship, but … it also describes the heroin of the story, perfectly !!!
It is the year 1694, where “most” women were subservient and docile. Not “Reena” !!!
Reena Charlisse Hyde, is indeed the Captain of this ship. Although an excellent Captain, trouble seems to follow her everywhere -- she is most reckless, bold, and insistent in her pursuits. Whatever she wants – she goes after … no one is able to reason with her ! She searched the Caribbean for a year, for the ‘love of her life’, and eventually finds him aboard a Royal Navy frigate. Captain Frederick Carlton. She deceptively boards this frigate, and plans to “save or rescue” him. However, he does NOT wish to be rescued, and does NOT want her in his life anymore. “Freddy”, is no longer living the life of a pirate, but rather has returned to his childhood roots of faith – to His loving, Heavenly Father, and has become a Preacher.
Reena uses her “beauty and charm and deceitfulness” to trick him into following her, as she plunges into the Ocean, causing him to dive in after her (thinking she might drown). Needless to say, he is now classed as a “deserter” … and the Navy begin to hunt him down.
All of this happening because “Reena” wants his help in her quest to locate maps, leading her to the “Fountain of Youth” ! She is completely obsessed with – eternal beauty, eternal youthfulness, and, “eternal life” ! But … she wants to remain in “this life”. Frederick wants NOTHING to do with this, or her … but she simply will NOT take “NO”, for an answer. As she makes her plans and carries them out, dangerous and fool-hearty as they are … Frederick feels he must try to keep her safe. All kinds of trials and catastrophes occur. He continues to pray for her very soul; and, to be an example of light to her darkness. He tells her about “THE eternal life” that God offers to each and everyone, for ever – in a perfect World. No more pain, sorrow, or sin. And that God looks upon the “inner beauty”, the soul of a person. But she scoffs at it, rejects it. Frederick also struggles greatly with not giving in to her ‘womanly charms, wiles, and beauty’. Concerning these temptations -- his patience and steadfastness caused me to marvel !
True to MaryLu’s typical swash-buckling style of writing, it will draw you right into the story … you will ‘visualize’, and, ‘feel’ exactly what she is describing. Many feelings swirled through me while reading … I actually wanted to “throttle” Reena myself (truly) !!!
You’ll be captivated by: the twists and turns, the dangers, the sword-fights, bravery, good vs evil, the miracles, Angels (yes – Angels), the love, passion, persistence, patience, and even humour.
And most importantly, you will be reminded -- that our Father God is loving, and patient, full of grace, forgiveness, and great love for each and every one of us … willing that NONE should perish.
As we “each” need to make our own choice in life -- to stay in the darkness, or, turn to the light … Reena will also need to do the same. Which will she choose ?
I highly recommend this high-impact action book !!!

Frederick and Reena couldn’t be more different than night and day. He’s a preacher, she’s a pirate and together, they make an odd couple. Odd, because one is trying to follow God and the other is running as far away as they can from Him. Throw in an old map that’s scattered among the Caribbean in pieces and a powerful Frenchman who’s after it, and you have an adventurous pirate tale from Mary Lu Tyndall that’s fun to read, yet, deals with the same issues people face today.

The Legacy of the King’s Pirates was the first series I read from Mary Lu Tyndall... so you can imagine my excitement when I found out that Frederick Carlton, who was just a baby in book #3, is the hero in The Reckless! *Swoon worthy!* What I liked most about Frederick’s character was how he sought to follow the Lord’s leading in his life. Even more, I liked how the author showed that God may lead you to be a witness to someone for a time, but there may come a time when He removes you from their life so He can work on their heart. When someone decides to follow the Lord, that’s a decision they must make for themselves and I thought the author did a great job of showing how that worked through the story of Frederick and Reena.

The heroine, Reena, was a feisty character who struggled with accepting the norm expected of women in her time. Back in the golden age of piracy, things like women wearing pants and commanding their own ships were frowned upon. Though humorous at times, I felt that the author addressed a deeper issue with this sub-plot. Women today struggle with self-worth, value, beauty and feeling that they have to prove they can do everything a man can. I liked the way Tyndall handled the subject and allowed us to see how Reena struggled with this and eventually, overcame it.

Conclusion: The Legacy of the King’s Pirates Series is a Christian spin off of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and I love how the author keeps adding to the series with stories about the Hyde’s and Carlton’s adult children. Though The Reckless is #6 in the series, you can read it as a stand alone and not have to worry about missing what has happened previously in the series. (Books 1-3 are about the parents and books 4-6 are about the kids.) The Reckless is a great read! If you enjoy Historical Fiction that’s set in a time period that’s not often written about, yet, done professionally, get this book. (And the whole series!) You won’t be disappointed!

The Reckless by Marylu Tyndall is the sixth installment in the Legacy of the King’s Pirates series. I haven’t read any others in the series and The Reckless was fine as a stand-alone. I believe this novel is self-published and there were some text formatting errors in the print version. These errors were infrequent and did not hinder my enjoyment of the novel.

From the start, this novel captured my attention, thanks in part to Reena and her antics. She fascinated me with her determination to find the fountain of youth and her steadfast resolve to make Freddy love her. True to her stubborn character, her journey to God is long and hard. Watching her learn and grow was a pleasure.

Aside from Reena’s character development, The Reckless boasts plenty of action, romance, and spiritual themes. There’s never a dull moment aboard The Reckless. Just when Reena, Freddy, and her crew escape one bad situation, they find themselves in another. The romance between Freddy and Reena is steady and steamy. While it is a clean romance -- no erotica -- there’s heavy sexual tension between the two of them due to their past history. Spiritual warfare and the desire for physical beauty are two themes that weave throughout the novel. Freddy’s ability to see spiritual beings and experience prophetic dreams added a spiritual component to the novel that is uncommon in mainstream Christian fiction.

I recommend The Reckless by Marylu Tyndall to readers who enjoy historical romance with a twist of fantasy. Having read this novel, I now intend to ask for several others in the series as Christmas gifts. Five stars!

This is another great adventure by MaryLu Tyndall! I have always enjoyed her books and this one did not disappoint! Reena and Frederick were great characters. Reena thinks she needs youth and beauty to make her happy & fulfilled in life and will do just about anything to achieve that goal. Frederick, a former pirate turned christian, trying to do the right thing, even though being faced with obstacles and temptations of his past. I also enjoyed the other characters introduced: Jo, Brodie, Abraham and Micheal! Every pirate ship needs a faithful crew. It was also fun being reunited with characters from her past books. One final note, MaryLu’s books have a spiritual lesson that always speaks to and encourages me. The inner spiritual struggles the characters face are relatable. I would highly recommend this book! MaryLu transported me to the high seas aboard a pirate ship and I loved every minute of it.

Another wonderful pirate book by MaryLu Tyndal. You will fall in love with Abraham and Michael. It is a great story of redemption, spiritual warfare, and the love of God, family, and others.

Don’t fret if you are a little confused at first, you will soon be caught up in Reena and Frederick’s struggles (both separately and together).

I absolutely loved the conversation between Abraham and Frederick when Frederick is trying to figure out why he is on a pirate ship. It really spoke to me as I have also experienced trying to figure out what God could possibly want with me in a particular place. The phrase, “Dere’s always a deeper purpose wit’ God.” is amazing and blessedly true.

If you love God and pirate tales you won't want to miss this book.

Just keeps getting better!

Just when you think you've read the best that MaryLu Tyndall can write, she goes and writes one even better! The Legacy of the King's Pirates series just gets better and better....they really should be turned into movies.
The Reckless is, in a word, WOW. This book has so much to offer....romance, adventure, intrigue, pirates, familiar characters, visions of the spiritual realm and tears. Yes, tears. I found it hard to get through the last chapter of this wonderful book, because I couldn't see past the tears welling up in my eyes.
Captain Reena Charlisse Hyde and Frederick Carlton will set your heart on such an adventure, you won't want to step back into reality. Mutiny, treasure maps to the Fountain of Youth....and so much more! I won't give away any more info....you must read it for yourself! That being said:
If you long for an adventure upon the high seas, to feel the touch of God in a story that will have you touching your hand to your heart, then you MUST read The Reckless, by MaryLu Tyndall. While you're at it, grab the entire series!

MaryLu Tyndall does not disappoint with her tales of pirates, tall ships and treasure. The Reckless is most certainly no exception to that.I'm curious and excited about Captain Merick and Lady Charlisse's other daughters story, Gabrielle, because she deserves to get her own story. Both her brother, Alex - the Pirate Earl, and her sister, Reena - the Lady Pirate, have their own stories where you sort of catch a glimpse of Gabrielle onboard the Redemption. I'm also curious about Freddy's family. I wonder if his siblings will be getting their stories told as well, I know their parents story is mainly told in The Restitution.

I kind of wished the scene where Reena reunits with her brother Alex, the Pirate Earl, and finds out she's not the only one who took up piracy was included, along with finding out that The Reckoning's captain is now family. Because I think that would have been pretty hilarious to read.

A wonderful story full of adventure and hope. I loved reading the story of Reena and Frederick and how they worked on their differences. I loved all the places and searching and wonder what it would be like to live a life like they did. I also liked how their faith factored into their decisions.

I received a preview copy of the book, the review is my own.

I liked that I have not read any of the other books in this series and wasn't lost. I also liked that she kept you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what comes next. They are searching for the fountain of youth. but finding different treasure maps. It was very action packed which I liked. I also thought that it was neat that it was a lady pirate cause for some reason we usually think as man as pirates. I also liked that parrot I thought it was cute how he would chime in and say different things smart bird. I also liked the little boy and how he knew what everyone wanted/needed before they would tell him. I liked how she wrapped the book up with love and faith.

2.5 stars but I averaged up. I will preface by saying I have read every fiction book by this author and perhaps I have just grown tired of this pirate storyline. There was so much I didn’t like starting with the cover. So unprofessional looking. Then the use of such cliche expressions over and over and over... i.e., bilge water, thunderation, kitten, etc. Silly! The parrot, Fred, was beyond annoying. There were a few endearing scenes (though rare.) I adored Michael. I also loved the reunion scenes with their family for both Frederick and Reena. There are so many more siblings in these families that I fear the author is not done with this series but I don’t intend to keep reading it.

wow wow wow this book was wonderful, I couldn't put it down, I love the stories of pirates and this one does not disappoint, it is full of suspense, intrigue, treachery, romance, and we meet beloved people we met in MaryLu's earlier books and this book brings you closer to our loving God. I think everyone wants to see angels and good versus evil and in this book there is plenty of that and so much more, not to mention a wonderful parrot, who had me laughing all the time. This book is so worth reading you will not be disappointed.
