An author wants to hit big and come up with an international bestseller followed by a TV series. But where to get the ideas? The Muse (I had to think about the crypt keeper when visualizing him) has a solution and many ideas in his greasy old book. Jackie only has to say yes to an idea that is suggested by the Muse. But there is a price for fame and fortune! Muse doesn't give his idea for free. What price is Jackie willing to accept? Can the agree upon something? Great idea, well plotted, ironic with great characters involved and a nasty twist. Loved this story of the author. Absolutely recommended!

"I like this idea. It’s different. It’s dark. It’s nihilistic. It has that… That thing about it you don’t find movies or TV. It’s very writerly. Maybe too writerly. Does it go anywhere?"

Muse by D.W. Nathan

Was a bit baffled by this one. It is a short story about a writer, bargaining his "Muse" for a book deal..and possibly bargaining away his soul. Great premise, written quite well but way to short. I'd have liked it m ore if it was a Novella.

As it is, the story just sort of ends when things are getting interesting. It is a quick read and as I mentioned it is a short story but as with some other short stories, one is left wanting much much more, which is actually a compliment to the writer but it felt unfinished to me. I will check out more of his work though as the writing is excellent.

Quirky

This is certainly something a little bit different and definitely quirky. Cannot wait to see what else the author has to offer.
