A virus has infected billions all over the world, turning its victims into vicious zombies. The UK and Ireland have remained uninfected...until now.Lucy Blair is an American doctor stationed at a field hospital outside the quarantined city of Leeds. Each day she hears more rumours circulating about the virus spreading. Each day she plays her part in the vast mechanism that has been constructed by the British government to safeguard the population. But today, the rumours stopped. Today, the rumours became reality. Now she is in a new kind of hell as she fights her way through a dangerous city to find a last ray of hope and that one last chance for survival.
I was born and raised in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Wanting to escape life in a big city and concentrate more on working to live than living to work, I moved to the Outer Hebrides in the north-west of Scotland in 2004 and I have lived there ever since with my wife and dogs.
I write post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, dystopian and horror fiction. I’ve released fifty one books across six different series - Safe Haven, The End of Everything, Unsafe, Relentless, The Burning Tree and Scares in Scotland.
In addition, most of my titles are now available as audiobooks narrated by Kim Bretton, so if you’re one of the many people who struggle to find the time to read, you can listen on the go.

Before Safe Haven: Lucy (A Zombie Novella) by Christopher Artinian and narrated by Kim Bretton is another win for the series. Recommend if you love this series as much as I do.
This novella deals with Lucy’s origins. She’s an American doctor working in the UK during the zompoc. She in the middle of it all when SHTF. There’s some heartbreak in this one, but also a good amount of action. It’s a good reminder of what the beginning was like for those of us who are deep into the series.
The narrator, Kim Bretton, was fantastic as usual. I have no complaints on her narrations and I can’t imagine anyone else voicing the sisters. Kim brings something special to the story and helps make the series stand out. ***Potential spoilers below*** **************** *********** ***** *** ** * Parental guidance/trigger warnings: It’s the zombie apocalypse so think bad people and/or bad situations…drug addiction, loss of child. Language used: Fx30, Sx19.
*I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you for allowing me to listen and review the book!

I love Christopher Artinian's "Safe Haven" series and the prequels he has written for the books really add a lot to the reader's understanding of the characters. Lucy Blair is an American physician who is working with the government to try to control the virus threatening to turn everyone into Reanimated corpses (also known as zombies). The book adds a very emotional dimension to Lucy's character and I was almost in tears at the beginning.
There is plenty of tension and action as Lucy and her crew face hoards of RAMs and evil humans (sounds familiar!). I also enjoyed Samantha's part in this book and her past relationship with Mike. These characters almost feel like family and it was nice to see the early start of Lucy's strength.
As always, the amazing Kim Bretton has done an outstanding job in her narration. She really brings the characters to life with the unique voices for each one. Her performance brings an already brilliant book to a whole other level of awesomeness!
The amazing author Christopher Artinian does it again with his beautiful imagination and memory, this time with how the doctor Lucy ended up in England and why she got addicted to pain pills, her beautiful soul and her meeting some of the gang that will travel with her, take care of her traveling buddies which will help her back twice as much as the story moved on.
Excellent narration by the awesome Kim Bretton with her angelic voice for each of the characters !
Lucy's story was entertaining, and I enjoyed it very much. I've been a fan of Christopher Artinian's stories for a while and this novella does not disappoint. Lucy was one of my favorite characters from the "Safe Haven" series and I enjoyed getting this glimpse of her character just as the zombie apocalypse was starting. Kim Bretton's narration was as absorbing as usual, and her performance enhanced this fascinating tale. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
I’m (im)patiently waiting the next instalment and so have started reading this shirts. Lucy doesn’t give away any spoilers but it does explain some things about how Lucy and Samantha ended up at the home of Mike and Emma. Gives some more background from the memories of Samantha about Mike also and why she decides to gamble the fate of her and Lucy with Mike. Worth the read, if for no other reason then it’s part of the Safe Haven world :) Enjoy x
Zombies, strong, brave women & hell has come to Leeds, England
Too, too short. I took a hiatus from zombie novels, forgetting how I love a good scary story. This author was unknown to me, and now I would like to read some more of his works. A dark and stormy night and this book will certainly give you a terrible case of the willies.
Lucy has always been one of my favorite characters in this series. Loved seeing this glimpse of her before she was with Mike. Kim Bretton did an amazing job narrating as if she could do a bad job. She is amazing! Best zombie series/world out there. Yes I said it, the best! Do yourself a favor and pick up anything by Artinian and I promise you will be hooked and agree with me!
This book was advertised to me, and since I love zombies, I figured I’d give it a chance. At first, I felt the story was starting a little slow for my liking, but I really came to love the character development we see. I find myself feeling heartbroken over Alex and hoping that in the next book, he miraculously recovers. Definitely can’t wait to read it again.

Woman, Mum, and Doctor. Conscripted into the pandemical service. Ensuring the dead remain dead and the living free from scratches that would reanimate them.
I enjoy the character development and the British idioms are interesting. Wren and Robyn are my favorite characters. Could there be another “End of everything”?
More background to the Safe Haven world, really enjoying these prequel novellas. It was nice to have the reasoning for Lucy and Samantha turning up at Mike’s house fleshed out.
Absolutely love this series and the connecting ones action, drama, love, betrayal, horror and fantastic writing I adore Christopher Artinian you love every character in his portrayal of survival and a deep hate for the eavil in this world there's no words to describe his talent other than absolutely brilliant! Of the many books I've read these are definitely the ones that are going to stay with me. I've laughed and cried throughout thank you! His books have taken me to a new escape from the chronic pain and illness I suffer from and know that there's worse things in the world than my suffering it's got me through some tough times and so grateful for the love of my family and friends and made me stronger to get through the day not just taking me away inside my mind but the words and way in which he has written these books family and love is not just blood it's everything!
This novella is the tale of what happened to Lucy and Samantha prior to arriving at Mike’s the day the RAMs took over Leeds. It fills in the blanks and shows another side to this tale brilliantly! Even knowing where we were heading I still found myself worried for them and hoping they made it to their destination as the world around them fell apart.
For fans of this series this paints a fuller picture of what leads up to them knocking on Mike’s door that day, for people who may be finding this novella first it’s actually a great starting point to the series. Warning: By the last page you will be eager to read The Rise of the RAMs, so be ready to add the rest of the series to your library right away!
Another super great read coming from Christopher Artinian and just what the Doctor ordered. It was pretty nice that the Author gave us a glimpse into Lucy & Samantha's life with the beginning of the apocalypse and how it went down with them. Sad to see how no one comes away unscathed whether with their personal life or with friends they've just met. Again another must read in the Artinian Collection and one I'll be passing on to others.
Absolutely love Lucy the character this novella is based on. I was thrilled when Christopher announced this book release and downloaded it instantly. As always it didn't disappoint, we really get to see a different side to the character and can't help but love her all the more for it. Fantastically written and can't wait for more, these novellas based on the separate characters and more safe haven. Will definitely be recommending
A fantastic short story that shines a spotlight on Lucy's life as the nightmare begins, opening with Lucy's struggle with grief and how she meets her new friends that help her fight to find a safe haven. I was moved to tears by Lucy's struggle and resilience, and found her bavery and strength refreshing, an amazing peak into the beginning that should not be missed, I can't recomend it highly enough.
Another great read written by Mr. Artinian. Intense reading. I love the characters. It was good to get some back story on Lucy and more details leading up to the first book. The only complaint I could possibly have is that it wasn't longer. Because I love reading books by this author. He could make the phone book interesting.
After reading all 4 gripping Safe Haven books it's good to learn more about some of the main characters. This book puts you back in the carnage that erupted in the city of Leeds and gives you another perspective of life up until both Sam and Lucy joined forces with the Fletchers
This was a nice little fill in of what happened to Lucy and Samantha just prior to the shtf up to them turning up at Mike and Emma's at the beginning of the first of the main books in the series.
I enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading about Alex, despite him playing a very short role in the main books.
If you haven’t read any of this author’s work, then what are you waiting on? If you love a fast pace and action story then this series is for you. It was great to get a little background on Dr. Lucy. Thank you for using Kindle Unlimited. Can’t wait to read the other books in this series.
Once again A terrific tale by Christopher Artinian.
A terrific tale once again. This time at the beginning of the RAM's first time unleashed upon Great Britain. The author has you right there amidst the carnage.Excellent novella.
