Welcome to Summerland

Rate this book
Lucy Carson isn't really looking forward to her honeymoon in Summerland. Can she still call it a honeymoon if her fiance, Greg, left her at the altar? Probably not.

The situation doesn't get better when she discovers that the bed and breakfast won't let her keep her reservation now that she's single.

But the residents of Summerland, the strangely idyllic and drowsy oceanside town, are happy to have her come to visit. And in a town where all the residents are young and stunningly beautiful, there's plenty to enjoy. Like Felix Graves, the darkly handsome owner of Sacred Grounds. Or Jack Wilder, the broad shouldered town recluse who lives in a cabin in the woods. Or even grumpy Dylan Waters, the lighthouse keeper who rents Lucy a little cottage. Not to mention Liam Smith, the rugged local handyman, and Raylon Beam, the mechanic with a smile that could blind a girl.

Things might start looking up for Lucy with neighbors like these, and maybe Summerland can give her a reason to stick around.

Now if she could just put her finger on what makes the town so mysterious...

Spoilers ahead

Massive spoilers for the entire series

I'm lazy so this review will cover the entire series

h's fiancè left her stranded so she goes on the honeymoon she'd had planned alone
Couple complications later she rents a cottage from a grumpy but sexy man
She's attracted to one man- they have sex
She's attracted to another - they have sex and also fun with the other man
She's attracted to another - they have sex
And so on and so on, sis was basically living my fantasy okayyyy
So there's some drama, turns out her harem are gods
Enter bad guys
Sis tries to save the day
She makes a big sacrifice
Gets a great reward
Eventually adds the last guy to her gangbang 😂😂😂😂
I'm simplifying but I actually enjoyed it though I know this author can do MUCH better sexy times, I'm a dedicated smutaholic but I skimmed the sex
This book popped my RH cherry I guess

This was a delightful read about a woman going through a bit of a crisis as she moves on from distress, which she overcomes by making new friends that help her transition to a new level of confidence and self worth.

Lucy is a likable protagonist who is easy to identify with and relate to in a credible manner. Her adversity is something that she faces with dignity and which introduces new and fresh characters maintaining pace and further developing the plotline.

Although this is a novella, it is a story for those who like a bit of slap and tickle and a good solid romance. To sum it up at the end is a perfect sentence: 'These Summerland men a trouble, end of story'.

Welcome to Summerland!

What should have been the happiest day of her life turns out to be her greatest nightmare.

Jilted at the altar by her boss/fiancé, Lucy decided to come over to their reserved honeymoon destination to pick up the pieces of her life. The town of Summerland seems to be a good start especially when you have its sexy residents to help you. But is the town really what it seems?

As the first book in the series, the author perfectly set this up for the next installment. There is a smooth flow of story and good world building. Lucy is a relatable character; her problem, how she solves it and copes up is just like any woman in her position would do. The male characters are well flushed out with just a certain amount of mystery, along with its town, that I hope to be revealed in the next book. It was a fun, great read with enough steam forits mature audiences. I'd love to see more development on her dynamics with the other guys as well. I would certainly read book 2 to know more of this world.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

♡ RH?
♡ Small town
♡ Super short novella

Going into this book, I had no idea it was a novella, so when it ended it felt really abrupt. I have a feeling this will be one of those novella series that probably should've just been one book, but whatever. To be honest, I'm not sure if I will move on in this series. It could totally have been me feeling slumpy while I read this book, but while I loved the premise and the idea of a small town reverse harem romance with all the tropey heroes in one, I just ... didn't really care about any of the characters.

Interesting plot with h in small town for her honeymoon, but her ex called off the wedding. Sadly the h's passion is one of my triggers - she bakes. Of course the local coffee shop needed a baker and all the guys in the town are hot, hungry and willing to share her. OTT and steamy, it's intro so not much story but book 2 might offer more.

Review copy kindly provided by the author in exchange for a honest review
As the title suggests this is truly a welcome to her new series and world. It definitely doesn’t give much away but it’s a teaser of what to come.
Whilst only novella length, it does pose a lot of questions and allows readers to get a feel of this world as Lucy tries to find her way through the mess she in . It’s perfect timing she arrived and the men have more then made her feel welcomed.
Lucy seems to be a women who is ready for what in store so I can’t wait to see what the next instalments bring considering that whilst she maybe new . She doesn’t take long to fit in and it open up quite few possibilities for future books. The guys are definitely know how to make their intentions known so it only a matter of time before this series truly heats up.
Summerland has a mysterious air that is waiting to be explored so hopefully it’s too long before we return here as this town is begging to reveal it’s secrets. Moon has definitely kicked of this series with a bang so it going to be explosive as this first book.

Okay, first you have to know this is naughty little prequel that introduces our heroine, Lucy, right after she got jilted at the alter by her former finace, former boss and former roommate. What is a woman to do with no saving, no job and no husband? She goes on the honeymoon anyway! Too bad the B&B they had booked is for couples only. Luckily, the tiny coastal town of Summerland is much more than accommodating (yes lots of innuendo here). There are 5 studly single men, at least one to satisfy every woman's interests but Lucy gets them all to herself. I have to say, I'd be happy to read the rest of this series. The steam level is very high and the writing is good.

I was very excited to read this novella. I wasn't disappointed. I am sad that it's a novella and not a full novel. This is a very exciting new world. I can't wait to figure out all the mysteries of Summerland. I recommend this and can't wait to read the next one.

Overall: 3/5

A sweet, quick first installment of this RH (PNR, it's looking like it might be? This has some real potential to be sinister.) about Lucy, who was jilted at the last second by her ex and given their honeymoon trip as a consolation prize to get over him. What a sweetheart, huh? Only when Lucy goes to check in at their B&B, she's informed by the proprietress that she "prefers couples" and Lucy can not stay. After a little back and forth, Lucy is set up with a cottage rental for 6 weeks instead of 2. Something's really strange about Summerland. It seems to be almost dead, but the inhabitants she does encounter all appear to be in their 30s and frankly, pretty damn hot—and happily all vying for her attention. No children. No elderly. Mostly open but empty shops. No one sells any baked goods or seems to cook. Nothing's adding up, but Lucy's too distracted to think too hard on it.

I'm definitely locked in and want to find out what exactly is going on. I have my own theories, but we'll see.

Hmmm the book is more erotica than anything else. There is barely a plot. I wish I knew that going in.

I'm familiar with Moon's omegaverse books, which have quite robust plots and layered relationships, so I didn't expect something so different in the Summerland series. Even the Inheritance of Hunger series had a fairly decent plot, although it also contained lots of gratuitous sex (since the way the FMC generates magic and helps her kingdom prosper is by having as much sex as possible. Yes, a total cliche 😅).

Anyway, nothing much happens in this book. I only really got a sense of who Lucy was, since everything is in her POV. The guys are all just good-looking and virtually indistinguishable; nothing really stands out.

I've read books 1 & 2 but I'm bored and may not start book 3. Usually when I'm in the middle of a series, I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happened, but in this case I don't care.

Lucy got jilted just before the wedding by her now ex, now former boss.

They decided that she would enjoy the already paid for honeymoon trip solo so she could get her head back together, and think about all the new things on her to do list: new job, new place to live, retrieving her things from the home they shared.

What Lucy didn't count on was a B and B that only catered to couples.

She would discover more fun ahead in discovering that Summerland was ultimately an adult community catering to singles with certain interests - and they just happened to be looking for a baker.

festive reverse harem instead of honeymoon with a jerk. a much better choice for Lucy - and great fun telling said jerk she was not planning to return to work for him.

This quick novella is the first installment in the Summerland serial, a paranormal reverse harem romance. It’s very well written with some mystery, humour and seriously steamy scenes including some ménage. The characters are well-defined in addition to being charming, sexy and hot! Summerland is a quaint seaside town, but there’s no elderly and no children – and why’s that? All’s not as it appears on the surface. As Lucy settles into her rental cottage, she discovers an attraction for several of the men in town. Seems her interest is reciprocated – lucky girl! I look forward to reading the next installment.

I'm not usually a fan of novellas or serials or any short stories because I feel like not all author's are able to successfully give a rounded out story in such a short length. Instead, it feels like I get half a story cut off in the middle while I'm left hanging until the next "book" is published.

That is not the case with "Welcome to Summerland." While the book is short and a quick read, Kathryn Moon packs a lot of character and relationship and world building into the story. There's also enough steam that you might want to take a cold shower afterwards. There's clearly something...different about Summerland and I am intrigued to know more about this place and see how Lucy finds her place in this strange town.

Kathryn Moon is the best of the best and this book is proof of that. I went into the book blind because I was voraciously reading everything by this author and I could not have been happier.

Moon is the queen of cozy RH, which is a pretty niche genre and this book is the perfect example of that. This is a standalone so while there is plot it's pretty self contained and that gives the reader the ability to just relax and soak up all the thoughtful details and amazing visuals the author jam packs into the story. This was an epic RH but at no point did I feel like any of the characters were superficial and all of the steamy scenes felt very well though out and purposeful, instead of formulaic. This book honestly feels like a brief, delightful summer vacation for the mind.

I want to thank the Boosprout website for this partnership.

I was immediately attracted by the cover, we see the beautiful Lucy back turning her head.

Lucy does not really want to spend her honeymoon in Summerland, especially since her fiancé Greg dropped her in front of the altar. Especially since the bed and breakfast where they were supposed to stay no longer accepts his presence being single. Good people will make him stay. She will ask herself questions: why is this city so mysterious?

I loved this first book despite the few pages. A captivating, moving story full of suspense and twists. Looking forward to seeing if Lucy's situation is going to work out.

Lucy got dumped on the day of her wedding, her ex is a turd (to not say something worse, and she needs to regroup after spending the last years living life around him, working for him, living with him and having his friends. So she goes off on her supposed honeymoon alone, and finds everything she didn't know she needed, in the form of the hunks of the city, and a cafe without a baker. I can't wait to see what happens next in Lucy's life, now that she's getting settled in a new place, and I really hope we get to see her ex crushed by all her new men.

When I say I’ll read anything by Kathryn Moon, I mean it! I’ve heard great things about the Summerland series, but I didn’t know anything about it. Feeling adventurous I picked up the series without reading any blurbs, and I am SO thankful I did! I went in without knowing what type of book this was: Rh? Contemporary? High fantasy?
I am so tickled to tell you that Summerland met and exceeded my expectations. I loved meeting Lucy, she is the badass no holds bar FMC I didn’t know I needed. She takes what she wants and doesn’t feel guilty for speaking her mind. Definitely worth picking up this series! Amazing job, per usual Kathryn

Standing in the lobby of her honeymoon hotel, she is being told to find somewhere else to stay. Who knew that being newly single, meant no room. Thankfully the town of Summerland is very welcoming. A little too welcoming.
Now is the time to live without any worry of what kind of girlfriend she SHOULD be.

I will probably read this another 20 times. I have never been able to fully enjoy any type of romance novel, but This is not your grandma's cringeworthy romance novel. Modern and sexy as hell. Thank got this is not the only book. I cannot wait for part two.

This was an amazing fast paced read that kept me wanting more. I Highly Recommend this book for OVER 18 DUE TO CONTENT.
Lucy Carson is a jilted bride and down on her luck. She goes to the Sweetheart Bed and Breakfast to figure out what she is going to do with her life and recover. Once she gets to Summerland things don't go as she planned. I love the mystery that surrounds Summerland and the people who live there. I can not wait to read the next book.

This is the first book in the series. The story is a reverse harem and it is a even paced read. The female character gets jilted at the altar and decides to go on the honeymoon alone but runs into a snag when the inn only caters to couples. What happens next; you'll just have to read. The characters are relatable and likable. The plot flows well with the story and is filled with heartache, romance and drama.

Not bad

It’s smut, I wasn’t sure that it was going to be an erotica but I was hoping for some more plot. Once I got over that and realized what the story is really about, it’s decent. But one annoying thing is making the book have “parts” should just have the books all together in 1 instead of parts since they are all out.

Not sure where this is going, if there’s some paranormal component or not, I went in without reading all of the synopsis. Still if you suspend belief this is a decent read. Onto part 2.

I enjoyed this book/novella much more than I was expecting. I've started another book by Kathryn Moon that I'm still trying to finish (not because I'm not enjoying it, but I've been liking shorter books right now and it's 400pgs) so I knew I would at least enjoy this a little bit, but I loved it. I think the escapism really helped too. I want to live in an idyllic sea side town with a bunch of attractive men around haha.

Also, I am so curious and want to know all the secrets of this town!! I'm starting the second book immediately.

Okay so she is a sex creative info. Well I guess if she's going to get it she's going to get it right? Just wow she really puts out. Doesn't take her anytime whatsoever. This is more than a fast burn this is a burn your house down kind of harem kind of thing. First book and she's already got two guys in her pants, and two guys lined up LOL oops sorry my bad three guys lined up afterwards. I have to read the last book of another series that I have been reading, and then I will come back to this one lol.

**EDIT: I bought these books ages ago and they’ve since been turned into a single standalone with bonus content! I highly recommend getting it as the standalone, much more cohesive!**

4/5 ⭐
3/5 🌶️

**Tropes**
- Running away to a small Town to escape your problems
- Small Beach Town Vibes
- Mysterious Small Town
- Cottagecore Vibes
- Everyone is hot, literally everyone
- Reverse Harem
- Baker FMC

📖 **My Thoughts**
I’ve been meaning to read this for a long long time, and of course like all of Kathryn Moon’s works, I regret not getting to it sooner. This is such a damn vibe. FMC gets basically left at the alter by her shitty fiancé who tells her to go on what was supposed to be their honeymoon all by herself. So she does, and she fucks. By god does she fuck. The whole damn book I was screaming “GOOD FOR YOU SIS!” And the vibes of her little rinky dink cottage by a lighthouse on the beach? Immaculate. Her stress baking? Relatable! The food? God I’m hungry right now, and the men in this book are SERVING! 10/10 would recommend and there’s 2 more of them!!!

⚠️ **Triggers**
- None I can think of

🌶️ **Spice**
Oh man, so many orgasms, so little time. FMC is having the time of her goddamn life and I am jealous and hell. Nothing too kinky yet, but there is outdoor sex, shower sex, and kitchen table double team sex.
