The Alien Assassin's Stolen Bride

Rate this book
Hannah’s having a bad day. Her friends have ditched her, and she’s stuck going on a tour of Hearst Castle. And she ends up seated next to a muscle-bound, dangerous-looking man dressed all in black, with pearly-white skin and silver eyes.

Heriot is an assassin known for his one hundred percent kill rate . . . and his grim disposition. He’s all work and no fun, according to his brother and partner, Jadzion. And he’s all business as he tracks down his latest target on some filthy backwater planet called Earth. He’s got two diurnal cycles to take out his target, so there’s not a lot of time for shenanigans.

He didn’t expect to find his true mate during the middle of this hit. He didn’t expect her to be a stunning human female who could gentle his stern demands. And he didn’t expect to be reduced to a raging, rutting beast on this mission. Can he convince his innocent mate to return with him to his home planet before his time is up, or will he be forced to steal her?

**Note: Be sure to read Heriot's brother's story in, "The Alien Assassin's Convenient Wife" by bestselling author, Ruby Dixon. It tells the story of how Jadzion unexpectedly finds his true mate, Jenna on earth too!

This had me laughing because it was so goddamn stupid 🙄. “Earth girls aren’t easy” that’s a stupid line to say, Hannah! Girl you just showed him how earth girls are easy just seconds before saying that 😂😂. If you read the book or going to read this you will understand what I’m saying. I’m done here.

3.5 - Liked It Better Than the Last Alien Romance I Read - Stars

Well, this one I liked a bit better than the last alien romance I just finished. I found it a little more romantic, I suppose. I liked the possessiveness of the hero too. I do love a possessive hero.

Again, though, where is my epilogue? I really dislike abrupt endings. I always want more. Why didn't we get to see her reaction to his planet? Meet the brother and his mate? If I read that one, will I get my epilogue? What about seeing their mother who will "love this." Come on! Give us an epilogue.

Other than that, pretty cute and quick read.

ETA: I can't even find a book for the brother. That makes it even worse! So, definitely no epilogue.

ETAA: Found it! It is written by Ruby Dixon. :) It's part of this Assassin's series.

I picked this book up as it runs alongside Ruby Dixon's The Alien Assassin's Convenient Wife, each book tells the tale of a duo of assassin brothers who have come to Earth to eliminate a target. But, never fear! They are good assassins who only take out the scum of the universe. However, each brother stumbles onto his true mate in the course of the job.

Heriot is the serious brother. The one who plans everything well ahead of time and keeps his kills efficient and methodical. Finding Hannah, who he recognises as his true mate with his target puts a huge wrench in his plans. Now, not only does he need to take the genocidal maniac out, he needs to protect Hannah...and convince her she is coming back home with him.

Much like Dixon's instalment in this duo of books, it was a quick but fun read. The heroine quickly accepted Heriot as an alien with a mission and decided to help him out. If you want something short and sweet to read and you like your aliens, give this book a try.

My rating: 2 stars.

What I liked: When the bad alien gets killed which should have happened sooner :/ and the book was free which was a plus

What I didn’t like: It was crazy how a virgin who had a sheltered life was ok with the whole alien thing and wanting to take care of his “flush” problem. Also, the H is an assassin sent to kill another alien but gets side track because he finds his mate, so while he is horny the other alien rapes a woman and the H is like oh well. Why not just kill the bad guy right away before anything else happens. This book just annoyed the hell out of me.

How hot was it: 3 out 5

Triggers: The H is an assassin who is after a bad alien and because he gets side tracked by finding his mate the bad alien rapes a woman. You don’t read about it, you are just told that is what he did.

Final thoughts: This was a no for me. At first I was liking it and it just went down hill the further I read.

A quick read, if your looking for something to unwind to. Not the greatest writing style, but passable storyline, if somewhat cheesy. The characters are easy to like, and amusing at times.

The couple: Heriot and Hannah

Romance trope: alien
Series: In the Stars
Length: 104 pages

Plot: Heriot is on a mission - he's an assassin and he has a limited amount of time to track and kill his latest target. But on the tour of Hearst Castle (that he's using to get closer to his prey), he ends up meeting his true mate. Can he woo her and get his task done? Will she accept an alien mate? Stay tuned!

Commentary: I always like the idea of an alien assassin tracking bad aliens across the universe, and I like the idea of fated mates, but I felt something a little lacking here - I don't know, maybe some chemistry between the two main characters or some more tension when she finds out he's an alien. That might have been more possible with a longer book, which wasn't the point of the series of novellas. Still, it was sweet and there is a HEA.

Previous book in the series: The Alien Assassin's Convenient Wife
Next book in the series: The Cyborg Bounty Hunter

"She knew he fully expected her to leave with him on his ship and they'd start their lifd together. Which was sweet. Loyal."

How is that sweet or loyal?

I read a lot of terrible alien romance, but the writing in this one? Made me want to scratch my eyeballs out. The prose and characterization were horrible. The passage above is just one of many WTF moments in the book. It's like the author wrote this while high because it's disjointed, illogical an strange. Truly atrocious writing.

This was my first book by this author and I loved it. Heriot is Jazdion’s brother from Ruby Dixon’s book The Alien Assassins Convenient Bride, so he is also an alien assassin that came to Earth for his target and ended up finding his truemate, Hannah.

This was a safe read with a bossy-possessive-virgin-alpha male who is all business...well mostly business. These two have so much chemistry on first sight. His target has nefarious plans for his mate and Heriot is not having it. Two virgins with a lot of chemistry. Baby batter, no epilogue and hfn. Great story line and I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Waste of money

Very little story; mostly pages of the hero and heroine either talking about sex or engaging in foreplay. Writing was simplistic with an earthgirl (virgin, mind you) engaging in oral sex with an alien within a couple of hours of meeting him.

This did not hold up well being read on the heels of a Ruby Dixon book haha the writing felt clunky, the story was rushed (I know it’s a novella but for a girl staunchly claiming “Earth girls aren’t easy!”, she caved pretty quickly. No fuss, no fight. Also, there’s bossy and there’s downright controlling and he felt much more controlling than anything.), and the sex scenes weren’t great. The girl is a virgin and he just thrusts into her with little to no prep. That would HURT but our heroine is all moon eyes over it. Babes, no. Just no. There were a lot of other red flags for this book but I cbf to type them all out.

Ugh. The author repeated the same information over and over again, plus I just didn't care for the sex stuff. It wasn't hot and interesting; it was vulgar and more a part of the story than the story.

Is this planet sanitary? It might be full of bacteria.

I mean; this was clearly tongue in cheek - the villain's name (seriously) is Fucyu T'antor, Tantor being the name of the elephant in the disney 'toon. Yeah; that germaphobe elephant.

What a coincidence - the H is a germaphobe.

That said, I feel like the tongue slipped from the cheek and gave me a raspberry. The bulk of the book was unfunny. You have the H - alien assassin knuckledragger - who is here to kill the villain. His brother (featured in the Ruby Dixon companion) is in another state to kill the villain's brother. The brother had wisely taken antidote to hopefully combat their need to mate when confronted with an unattached compatible female. Our H...didn't. Why? Because he avoids females so as to not deal with the weirdness of his species. Hoisted by his own petard. Heh. The h is his truemate. I can accept this really. What I had a hard time with was his disparagement of earth while following the h around. And this is supposed to win her over? I also had a hard time with her supposedly loving him so much when she'd met him 7 hours before. I mean; I suppose that's part of the tongue in cheek part but... Eh.

Random thought - how did the bad guys get here if earth is supposedly off limits and a special gate has to be constructed by...somebody?

As an aside, the brother's story was more hampered by the author's writing style.

Too fast

Too fast for earth girls ,Hanna is a girl who has lived a shelter life with over protective grandparents. She not ready for this big world and even less for a alien assassin who keeps calling her his true mate. On a weird bus tour, she finds out he's not a lair but her true mate.

Two Alien Assassins🐺🔪🔫 Are Better Than One

Heriot🐺🔪🔫 and his brother are Assassins from the planet R'Etor. They are the best. They are paid double to kill two criminals, other men from R'Etor who have gone to the off limits planet of Earth🌍. The men appear to humans to look similar to human albinos.
T'Antor, the criminal Heriot has been contracted to kill, is a rapist. Heriot🐺🔪🔫 is to kill him and dispose of his body.

T'Antor is with Hannah💃💋, a human woman and they are getting on a shuttle to go up and visit Hearst Castle🏰. She doesn't know him, he claims to be a friend of her friends.
Up on the castle🏰 grounds, there is Illibrium💥, a dangerous substance that T'Antor is trying to find. It will destroy a planet if made into a weapon. It's a race for Heriot🐺🔪🔫 to find the Illibrium💥 first and kill T'Antor in the process.

As soon as Heriot🐺🔪🔫 sees Hannah💃, he realizes she is his true mate! His mission just got way more complicated!

The book📑 is a short read, and definitely not Ms. Mills best, but it's a light entertaining summer read. This is an XXX rated read, for adults only!

Unfortunately, this wasn’t good. After reading its sibling book, The Alien Assassin’s Convenient Wife by Ruby Dixon, I was interested in the brother’s story. I adore Ruby’s writing and that story was intriguing, so I thought I’d enjoy this one. But I didn’t. The plot, the characters, the romance, the spice and even the writing style just wasn’t for me. In my personal opinion, it was lacking in every aspect.

I stopped judging characters based on their reactions to Aliens’ existence because it really depends on the characters’ perspective, but for Hannah, who grew up with such traditional values, it felt too quick to give in to Heriot. I would have liked to see more resistance before our heroine decided to give the big, white alien the best hand and bl0wjob of his life. Hannah’s traditional values were mentioned repeatedly but were completely ignored by the character herself. True mates or not, it was too quick.

Heriot wasn’t a very intriguing character either. Sure, he was big, bulky and possessive, the usual traits. However, he was supposed to be this top-tier assassin just like his brother, but he was not smart. He definitely wasn’t hired for his brain. And he was incredibly selfish. At least, in the other book, the brother gave his mate a choice, whilst Heriot didn’t care about what Hannah wanted, he was to take her regardless of her wishes.

As for the chemistry and romance, was there any? The romance was non-existent, it was the sexual chemistry that kept them together. Heriot did care about pleasuring Hannah so I guess that’s a good thing, but his overall selfishness overrode any, tiny detail that would have made me believe that their feelings for each other were genuine. Heriot wanted a true mate and Hannah was it. End of story. Happy ending. Saying ‘I love you’ after 9 hours is a new record especially when they had no emotional or mental chemistry and their dialogues felt dull. Even the spicy scenes were subpar. There was no humour or witty remarks that would have kept my attention. The characters just were. They just existed next to each other.

The plot was also unnecessarily dragged out and filled with repetitive descriptions and dull dialogues. The book was a little over 100 pages and I thought it would never end. There was no action, save for half a page, no events that would have kept my attention and the whole book was dry.

The writing wasn’t it for me either. I struggled with the writing style because it felt very stiff and not at all easy flowing. The inner monologues were very repetitive and lengthy and the book itself was heavily ‘telling’ and descriptive, rather than ‘showing’. When it wasn’t repeating previously mentioned information, it was characters conversing about already repeated information, pages of inner monologues, or the descriptions of their surroundings that took up most of the book.

Overall, it wasn’t a terrible book, I didn’t hate it, and it didn’t make me angry or frustrated. But it wasn’t good. And I hate to say that because I’m sure the author worked hard on this book, but it was not for me. Other than the first 10 pages, I did not enjoy anything about this story. The plot, the romance, the characters, the spice and even the writing style were a let-down, therefore, The Alien Assassin's Stolen Bride got 2/5 stars from me.

Ratings of the other books in the series:

The Alien Assassin's Convenient Wife by Ruby Dixon 4/5 stars
The Alien Assassin's Stolen Bride by Michele Mills 2/5 stars

Mid-Reading Updates!

Page 2
Lmao, this book has a strong start. “Hello, I’m Fucyu,” The guy cut in.
He couldn’t have come up with a better name 😂 I actually cackled.

Page 8
Wait, lmao, Fucyu is an actual name in this book? I’ll not be able to read this with a straight face 😅

Page 19
I’m not a big fan of the writing. It’s very abrupt and jumpy. Not in the sense that it jumps between events, rather it feels unnatural. It’s not easy flowing. Since I read the sibling of this book, The Assassin’s Convenient Wife by Ruby Dixon, I hoped this would be just as entertaining. But the writing style is very stiff and descriptive.

Page 29
Unfortunately, this is not only descriptive, as in pages of inner monologues, but also quite repetitive. The same thing is repeated over and over again on the very same page and the next and the next one. And it seems to have loads of “She smiled”, “She snorted”, “He blew”, “He glanced”. I don’t mean to be rude, but to me, the writing feels very basic.

Page 49
It’s a lot of talking between the characters. I’m craving some action or something to happen. It’s also filled with explanations about aliens and other planets, which is, of course, necessary but very repetitive as we already know these info from the inner-monologues, where things were explained multiple times, and now they are explained again in the dialogues. This book is very heavy in telling and not showing

Page 81
Finally, they started to get closer to their mission. Not going to lie, up until now, it’s been loads of descriptions and inner-monologues, endless boring and repetitive dialogues and spice. Unfortunately, I am not connected to the story or the characters. I’ve been bored throughout the whole book. And I hate to say this, but the writing style is also weak in the sense that it’s very basic.

Page 101
I feel bad about not enjoying this because I was excited about the story after I read its sibling book The Alien Assassin's Convenient Wife by Ruby Dixon, but unfortunately, this wasn't good. At this point, I barely even judge characters for warming up to the big aliens so quickly, but the whole book was dull. The plot, the romance, the characters, the spice and even the writing style. I was bored throughout the whole story.

READ THIS NOVELLA AFTER READING The Alien Assassin’s Convenient Bride BY RUBY DIXON!

There should had been a warning that this is the novella to read SECOND. I must had missed the memo, but I was lucky I didn’t read this one first, only because I’m a bigger fan of Ruby Dixon than I was of Michelle Mills who wrote the second installment (so far).

Length: Definitely a novella, but in the storyline’s real time, everything takes place in a single day. Again. (A deadpan “Wow”.)

In my review of this story’s companion novella, I mentioned how I couldn’t believe Ruby Dixon was describing the same character Michele Mills was writing about, and this novella only proved it. Sorry, but you two should have exchanged character profiles, or in the case that you did, you should have stuck to them. My sense of suspension of disbelief kept running into this wall of incredibility. Are we talking about the same character? Truly, when an assassin native of R’Etor is in the throes of the procreation imperative, his usual personality characteristics would be heightened, not thrown out the window. Only towards the very end did I see the Heriot we were promised by Ruby Dixon finally materialized. (Praise the Lord!)

However, I did appreciate Ms. Mills’ development of the villain of the tale. Just like his brother, he has no compulsion to wipe out the entire human race as means of a demonstration of a weapon of planetary destruction just to impress potential buyers. Nor does he care about killing female humans he essentially rapes in order to deal with his genetically dominant mating compulsions. Finally, a write who isn’t a wimp when considering what would be the most realistic pathway a story will take. After all, we’re just bugs to be stepped on, so I appreciate this rare show of realism. (Yeah, I did read some of the one-star reviews. Most of them I threw out because we’re talking about realism. Good grief! Why do so many people think that extraterrestrials would be “nice” to us despite the torturous, hideous reports from alien abductees? You think they’d give a damn about us? As for an alien’s name sounding like a commonly used cussing word, given a break! I thought it was hilarious and considered it a cute homage to Alien Nation — you were alive when that show was on TV, right?)

If you’re into stories you could peruse in the privacy of your bathroom in your attempts to avoid the drama in your real life, this is a good one to read! Just make sure your reader is waterproof if you’re in the bathtub.

Was I satisfied with my purchase? I would say yes but only if I had bought both novellas because these two are really necessary for the completeness of the storyline. I only wish the continuity issues were corrected and it was just one novel co-written by two writers instead of two separate volumes. In my Kindle of over a thousand books, it would be better to prevent the potential aggravation these two stories from being separated at birth would have generated.

I only read this because it's a companion to the Ruby Dixon story, The Alien Assassin's Convenient Wife, and is about Jadziot's brother, Heriot. The humor that I so loved in that book, was not in this one and so the sort of ridiculously contrived plotline took itself too seriously for my tastes. I mean, basically Heriot tells Hannah, the naive virgin, that he is an alien on a mission to assassinate an evil man but he is suffering because he is surrounded by so many attractive, unmated females - most particularly the heroine, and so he needs her to provide him some sexual relief so he can function in order to complete his mission and save the earth. Never mind the fact that it's true, it just sounds like some ridiculous line. So I struggled quite a bit with that.

I also never really warmed to Heriot. He was immensely selfish throughout the story, caring only for what he wanted (unless sexually providing for his female). It bothered me that he didn't care that T'Antor was raping human women, he just didn't want him touching HIS female. It really bothered me that Heriot just assumes that Hannah is coming with him and never really stops to listen to her concerns about leaving. He even honestly figures that if she won't come with him, he'll drug her and force her to, but he won't like having to do it. It doesn't really become an issue because Hannah agrees in the end, but he sacrificed nothing and never gave a thought to her feelings about it. And her sadness at leaving Earth sort of diluted their final consummation scene, especially since Heriot was absolutely clueless (nor did he care) about her bittersweet feelings. Gaining Hannah as a mate seemed all about Heriot and HIS life, rather than Hannah's. I feel like this needed at least an offer from Heriot to put up with living on a planet he hated just to be with his woman. I did not believe in the least that he loved her for anything but her status as his mate. But it doesn't really surprise me since the two of them have less than a day to get to know each other and despite their pretty intense sexual chemistry, they didn't have a lot of personal chemistry...they didn't feel like a unit working together. Maybe that had something to do with the fact that Hannah kept resenting Heriot's insistence that she was his and that she kept finding fault with him (justifiably IMHO). As a result, it didn't feel like Heriot and Hannah were even friends, let alone soul mates.

So this didn't end up doing much for me. It was short at least and the sex scenes are definitely hot, but those factors weren't quite enough to have me walking away with a positive feeling from this one.

Hannah Graham was waiting in the Hearst Castle visitor center for Ron and Daisy when a stranger called out her name. He had white-blond hair, pale white skin, and silver eyes. He introduced himself as Fucyu T’Antor and said he came to take the tour with her. A group of co-workers had originally planned this trip to get to know each other. But as the tour date got closer, they kept dropping out until there were only a couple left – and their car had just broken down! She didn’t want to be stuck with this strange guy, but there was no nice way out of it.

Heriot, a government-hired assassin from R’Etor, coughed on the foul air of Earth. He wanted to use his ventilator, but people would know it wasn’t Earth technology. T’Antor was his target, but his mingling in high profile areas made taking him out much more difficult. Judging toward his destination, his target was attempting to acquire Illibrium, the most expensive, rare, and illegal power source for weapons on R’Etor. Heriot’s brother was in New Mexico tracking their secondary target so they could complete the job and return home sooner. Hindering his progress was the fact that humans were 100% compatible for mating with his people, and if he should run into one that triggered his response, his clear skin pigment would change drastically. It would be impossible to remain hidden. He needed to avoid that!

Heriot locked onto his target. But standing next to him was a human female. Her scent told him this was not only his mate, but his “truemate”! She would be his partner for life! How could this be? How would he convince her to return to R’Etor with him? Then he noticed T’Antor’s skin was already flushed, indicating his intention to force-mate with the human female! Heriot let out a roar of rage!

This wasn’t a bad story. It was a quick read and fun. Hannah is a strong female, not afraid to speak her mind; Heriot is a very obvious strong alpha male. Hannah immediately feels the attraction as soon as she sets eyes on him. But he has two days to kill his target and Hannah being his mate complicates things. Grab a copy of this book and see how he makes his choice – love or duty? After all, trying to kill someone and dispose of the body can be a bit difficult with your mate there!

I really hope I got this one for free. It's been in my to read pile for a while now so I have no idea. I just don't want to have actually paid for it. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. Some things were too repetitive and, not all that far in, I found myself getting bored with the story. I don't think the over done world building helped in that regard. I do like the idea behind this though. An alien assassin coming to Earth chasing his mark and finding his mate in an Earth woman is totally my thing. Even the whole thing with what Heriot goes thru was new for me. But...I don't know...nothing really ever clicked with me and had me truly interested.

Hannah recently started a new job and is looking forward to a company trip of sorts so she can get to know her coworkers better. Too bad they all drop out one by one until she's the only one left. Well, her and a stranger who claims to be friends with a couple coworkers she has already befriended. She's uncomfortable around him but agrees to go on the tour together anyway.

Heriot is an assassin and it happens that that stranger is his target. It's taken a while to track him down but he will not fail to kill him and destroy the crystal he is after. What Heriot never expected was to find his lifemate on this primitive planet. A huge complication, but not big enough to throw him off.

Hannah doesn't understand her responses to Heriot at all, but he makes her feel safe and want to do things she never has before. Naughty, dirty, fun things. And before she knows it, she's helping track down his target and trying to help save her planet. In the end, she takes a literal leap of faith with him and is off to start her new life.

There were a few things that bugged me with Hannah. It was annoying how many times Heriot had to repeat things to her. I get it, she didn't want to believe him. But it was still really annoying. Then there was the fact that she balked at him killing people for money, but at the end she is super excited to become his partner in the assassination business. It didn't really make sense.

I'm going to take a quick second here to gush over the cover. It needs a standing ovation, but I'll make do with an internal squeal. Serious, it's gorgeous. I mean look at the hero, he's too handsome.

The Alien Assassin's Stolen Bride is the first book I've read by Michele Mills, and it didn't disappoint.

When I read a romance novel, I look for more than the sex and chemistry between the characters. They're important too, but I want a story! Intrigue. Suspense. An end goal that one or both of the main characters are after. We have that in this book, plus all the other good stuff.

Hannah and Heriot are our heroine and hero, and the chemistry between the pair is intense and immediate. Hannah's friendly and fun, whereas Heriot's serious and grim, making them polar opposites. It's always entertaining when two contrasting personalities are falling in love. It's inevitable that they'll butt heads.

Tension and reluctance are usually on the short side in novellas, but I think Mills did a nice job of adding those elements to her story. I become more invested in a character when they're dealing with an internal struggle of some sort.

I loved the antagonist's name! Hilarious!

The conclusion is I loved the book and would recommend it to everyone who loves a sweet and sexy alien romance story. Heriot's brother has his own book, and I plan on reading it this week sometime. Both of them are a part of In the Stars Romances, which if I remember correctly is like Harlequin romances.

My mom read those paperbacks by the dozen when I was a kid. I remember sneaking them off of her shelf and reading them even though I wasn't allowed to. That was when my passion for reading was born, y'all.

Uh... it wasn’t bad but just not my cup of tea. Yes. That.

I guess I was expecting a bit more from the serious, grim older brother. Heriot fell into lust so fast with Hannah that any dimensions to his character disappeared and it was all about how beautiful his mate was and how much he wanted to sex her up. And how gross Earth was but it doesn’t matter cause he’s gonna kidnap Hannah to his beautiful and clean planet. I just wanted to throw a box of Clorox wipes at him.

One can say Ruby did this with Jadzion too, but there was just too much ‘telling’ with Heriot. Instead of all the words about the tour or how sexy they each found each other, I was waiting for verbal chemistry or at least emotionally bonding experiences? Anything that showed they were a better match than just physically. And no, creepily staring only at Hannah while she checks out the castle does not count. Heriot also just went on and on about the flushing pigment and his planet. It’s not that difficult of a concept to understand?

AND! Hannah was just a little too dumb and stubborn with the alien reveal which made me not like her. With a short novella, there’s a lot of plot to cover and not a lot of time to develop characters. And their conversation was not cute or interesting. One of their chats summarized the entire beginning of the book. I don’t like getting hit in the head with plot points when I just read about it ten pages earlier.

And oh god the glorified virgin trope. 🤮 We need to normalize healthy sexual experiences and relationships. It’s okay to have been with previous people before you found THE ONE. It doesn’t make you a whore or unpure.

I didn’t enjoy it but maybe you might? I’m just really picky and inpatient. I ended up skimming the last 50%.
