FIRST TIME AUTHOR

Loved loved loved this book. The heroine Imogene is likable from the start and as her character grows you really route for her. She isn’t a normal heroine and has many ghosts to put to rest from her Scittish character to her strained relationship with her mother. She becomes involuntary involved with having to travel with a complete stranger to help her friend who has recently become ill, feeling torn between helping her friend & travelling miles with a stranger, struggling against her phobia with car journeys plus her fiancé is due home after weeks apart. Deciding to do the right thing she embarks On the journey with the stranger, Gerard, and nothing goes to plan becoming stranded in wales, her special homecoming plans for a romantic weekend with her fiancé put on hold. Meanwhile they discover they have much in common and Imogene has to fight to control her feelings because Gerard doesn’t seem to care she’s engaged. The chemistry is fiery, friendly & funny between the two. The characters put me in mind of old movies, a little slapstick and watching them discover themselves. Managing to survive their adventurous weekend & bring home her friends son but suddenly all is not what it seems but the author keeps you suspended for a few more chapters.
When Imogene is then let down by her fiancé, Gerard volunteers to help again this time they head to her home town which again you find another layer to her and once more the relationship between them all is great, funny and at times really sad.
just when you think everything will work out a disastrous secret is discovered and her life is thrown upside down and to make matters worse Gerard is smack bang in the middle of it and by the time she discovers the truth it’s too late.
I won’t let any more spoilers out of the bag. Most characters. You meet are well written and likable her relationship with her sister hilarious and when she finally puts her past relation to rest with her mother you real feel for them both.
Highly recommend this book your hooked before you know it. If you love a good old fashion romance with a few unexpected twist & turns deep likeable characters this books for you.
