USA Today Best Selling author and Winner of the 2019 Romance Through the Ages Award for Georgian/Regency Romance, Chasity Bowlin is the author multiple bestselling historical romance novels, both independently and with Dragonblade Publishing. She lives in central Kentucky with her husband and their menagerie of animals. She loves writing, loves traveling and enjoys incorporating tidbits of her actual vacations into her books. She is an avid Anglophile, loving all things British, but specifically all things Regency.
Growing up in Tennessee, spending as much time as possible with her doting grandparents, soap operas were a part of her daily existence, followed by back to back episodes of Scooby Doo. Her path to becoming a romance novelist was set when, rather than simply have her Barbie dolls cruise around in a pink convertible, they time traveled, hosted lavish dinner parties and one even had an evil twin locked in the attic.
Although each of these books has horrible back stories, I still intend to read the next one. Each Lost Lord endured abuse in their lost years, but a woman was the saving of each one. In one, a boy is stolen, given to an abusive couple, but his mother never gives up hope. In the next a boy is lost at sea and thought dead, and after years of abuse at sea, returns home. The 3rd is a prisoner for years before he escapes and returns home. Each meets a woman who eventually saves him. These were interesting yet difficult reads.
I read two of the three books, and after the second....... I said NO MORE! The story lines were not original but were good. It was the ENDING of the books, that irritated me! They were CLIFF HANGERS, or ,made you want to throw the book , at a wall!! I was so annoyed, that I didn’t WANT to read the last book! This author needs to TIE UP, all loose ends before ending the story! And an Epilogue would not be Remissed! Just worth 3*!
I own 7 stories by this author, not counting this one. I've read her bundle called THE LOST LORDS BOXED SET -4-6 and put this one on my Amazon Wish List. I enjoyed the H/h in the bundle and wanted to read the H's story and was so delighted that it was part of this bundle.
A lot of suspense and twists that will have you guessing who are all the villains. I must admit that the H seemed to fall fast for the h and I wanted more build up to their romance. I enjoyed this couple in the later stories and couldn't wait to see how their love story unfolded, so slightly disappointed, but still a good story. This is a stand alone story and doesn't have a cliffhanger.
There is very descriptive and passionate lovemaking outside of marriage, rated 4.5 out of 5 heat level and near the end of the story.
I love the doctor in this story and subsequent stories and I enjoyed all the secondary character's too.
We have no cheating, HEA, suspense and steam. I can't improve on the blurb, just recommending this story.
2. THE VANISHING OF LORD VALE - 4 STARS
This was a 5 star read for me until the ending. Our H's sister is kidnapped, escapes only to be abducted again and it ends. The poor H has no idea where she is and we are left with a cliffhanger for the sister. Her story is in book 5 of the series called THE MYSTERY OF MISS MASON. It is also part of a bundle called THE LOST LORDS BOX SET: Books 4-6.
Couple stories within a story. Part of the story, the H was kidnapped as a child and 24 years later, may or may not be Lord Vale. Another part of the story is about human trafficking of women and children. Rape of innocents, off page, many nasty villains throughout the story.
I found the story very suspenseful and held my interest from beginning until the ending. Great main and secondary character's kept the story engaging.
There is lovemaking, outside of marriage, heat level 2.5 out of 5.
No cliffhanger for our couple, but is for the H's sister, no cheating, HEA but not a smooth road, some romance and a tad of spice. We are not informed how Society viewed the H/h either. Still packs a punch for a story.
3. THE MISSING MARQUESS OF ALTHORN - 4 STARS
I do enjoy this author and her writing style. I disliked the h through most of the story because she was like a dog with a bone. She could not get over something the H said when she was 13. Even after our H explained how she was incorrect in her thinking 8 years later she still treated him awful. She does improve but near the end.
There is lovemaking mildly described outside marriage but they have been betrothed for 8 years. By that time I did have a liking for the h so their lovemaking was filled with passion. Both our H/had had awful and uncaring parents especially the Father's. There are many villains in this story and through out the story our H remained honorable.
We do get HEA, no cliffhanger, no cheating by our H/h. I am not going into the premise as many have explained it better than I can, just what u may get out of reading it. (Ljb)
THE LOST LORD OF CASTLE BLACK - A very interesting, suspenseful, mysterious & romantic book. It had a lot of twist & turns with a plot that was different from most of the historical romance novels. I enjoyed all of the characters from Dowager to Lady's Maid. Highly recommend this read.
THE VANISHING OF LORD VALE - I really enjoyed this book - the whole story has twists & turns & you never knew who was going to show up as a bad guy or a good guy! I really enjoyed Benedict & Elizabeth and the secondary characters were very engaging & I hope to find out what has happened to Mary & whether Sarah & Branson find love. I highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a good story, a nice romance with just a little spice.

The first and third books are good stand alone. The second has a lot of loose ends, but the sneak peak into the 5th shows where to look for the continuation. It was good to see that the heroines weren't impossibility pretty, and while I appreciate flaws in character, I found these heroines to be a bit too strong willed for my liking. But that's just a personal preference. There are explicit sex scenes, all before marriage, so if that's not your thing, be fore warned. Stories were well written all following a similar plot of disfunctional families, villains out for blood and distrust of the lost lord being the returned lord. Although less of the distrust in the last book as he was the only one of the three that didn't suffer memory loss. Loved all the heroes, especially in the third book. My favourite of the 3 would have been the second one if all loose ends were neatly tied up. Maybe the first book is my favourite, as I tolerated that heroine a bit better than the third. All good books but if you don't like cliffhangers, skip the second one.
This review is only for the third story in the series - for the others see the individual books
Marcus Balfour has been betrothed to Jane Barrett since childhood.
However, when his father insists that they actually marry when Jane is just fourteen (!) Marcus refuses and storms out of the house and joins the army.
Eight years later he returns after spending many years as a prisoner of the French. He is sure his cousin Charles betrayed him as he was in the uniform of a lower ranking soldier than the one Charles was wearing at the time of his capture.
All the time he was away Jane has been subjected to the carping criticism of her stepmother and lack of support of her father who had rushed to publish news of the engagement eight years ago.
Jane and Marcus agree to allow themselves a period of courtship before making up their minds.
However, various others are determined they marry (and not necessarily for the best of reasons).
Jane and Marcus must be on their guard if they are to survive.
This has been another excellent book in the series.
If you have grabbed this collection yet, you need to get that one-click finger moving. You really don't want to miss this. Not only am I talking about a steal of a price, but some very good reading. These are some wonderfully suspenseful romances that brought to mind such luminaries as Victoria Holt, Phyllis A. Whitney, and/or Mary Stuart. The intrigue, betrayal, mystery, and even the secret passages reminded me of the favorite Gothic novels of my youth. The Lost Lords is rich with the drama and machinations that any lover of the genre could want. Don't miss out. Grab this steal before it goes awy. You won't be disappointed.
Not as memorable as I'd have liked, but three distinct youth abuse stories. Each Lost Lord endured abuse in their lost years, but a woman was the saving of each one and the match saves her as well. In the first one, a boy is stolen, given to an abusive couple, his mother never gives up hope and he helps his mother's companion. In the second a boy is lost at sea and thought dead, and after years of abuse at sea, returns home to help a family friend. The third is a war prisoner for years before he escapes and returns home to his betrothed.
I enjoyed this first book enough to give it four stars. For a Regency romance it's quite original. Both the heroine and the hero come from unusual backgrounds and their characters are well developed. All the action takes place at Castle Black, which is some remove from London, so there aren't any fancy dress balls. There's lots of intrigue and mystery to hold your attention while the central romance builds. I'll wait a bit to read the other two books in the series.
A stunning compilation of the first Three books in The Lost Lords Series. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to read all these together , personally this author is a must for me , she has a style all her own that is wonderful ,and all are written with such emotion and passion, adventures and characters that will keep you hooked , beginning to end . Highly recommended!
I enjoyed all three stories of returned nobles and the women they inevitably would be united with. Different circumstances but with intelligent, caring and forthright women. Lots of intrigue, mysterious people and romance. Delightful reads. I would highly recommend!
I'm always disappointed when a great story comes to an end. I can't help myself! This set of three equally excited books (though with small similarities) will keep your hungry mind sated. Strong men, clever women and interesting situations make Ms. Berlin's books ones you won't want to put down. I highly recommend these books.
I enjoyed the stories, although the ending to the second one was annoying and not well thought out. The editing and proofreading were terrible!! So many times the words were either redundant, out of order, or missing entirely! I would give a higher review if these books were updated!
Very well written! Absolutely loved this book. Characters and storyline were brilliant. Very exciting, intriguing, romantic and devastating. Loved how the Lord's all were found.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was so good I couldn't put it down until I finished it. The main characters really worked and the setting seemed to just leap out of the page. Great job !
Three different stories of lost lords Great story lines, with characters you will love, stories of betrayal, and meeting and excepting, the loves of their lives. Thank you ❤
I enjoyed all three of these stories. Loved the twists and turns that kept me reading till the end. Enjoyable characters that you loved and hated. Will definitely be reading more from this author.
What an amazing tale of three Lord's gone missing. Not your usual stories but so ENTERTAINING! The mysteries of all were so greatly woven within the romance it was hard to put book down. Can't wait for Mary's story. Enjoy!
3 books- There were some things I didn't like but I can't remember what they were. I found all 3 entertaining or I wouldn't have read them. Also I will read others from this author.
