When Emma shows back up in Storybrooke months after taking on the dark curse, she's not the only one who has gone through a transformation. With battles to fight on two fronts against powers beyond her comprehension, Regina finds herself scrambling to keep entire worlds from falling apart.
Without a doubt one of the best stories I have ever had the opportunity to read. The author is wonderful in her descriptions of battles between magical users. The reader can easily visualize the fights, almost like an anime. The suspense and mystery were also very well thought out. There isn't a plot hole in the story that the author doesn't explain over time. The fanfic is about Emma, right after she saves Regina from the vortex; when she takes the curse instead. The narrative is from Regina's point of view, so for some time the readers have no idea where Emma is or what occurred with her, only the knowledge of what is going on in Regina's head, her anguish and guilt, as well as she desperately tries to find a solution to the curse. When Emma finally appears, it is to face a new threat to the city and she's totally changed. The story is pretty serious, so that silly, playful Emma is forgotten as she absorbs the power of the dark one. In its place a serious and distant Emma is placed. The new threat to the city is unlike any other villain. It's driven only by the thirst for power and has been jumping universes by absorbing the power of other dark ones. Regina, unlike in other narratives, doesn't have much power to fight this new villain. Theirs power is incomparable and different and so powerful than any other magical user. Emma is in charge of fighting the villain with her new dark one powers fused with the magic she previously had, making her the most powerful person in town but no more powerful than the villain. Another interesting thing is that even as the dark one, Emma still has control over some things in her actions. The power manifests itself as voices in her head (a kind of almost schismophrenia), where the earlier dark ones speak to her and urge her to practice her magic for evil. Especially when close to people who are potential to break the curse with the power of true love. The story has very explicit moments of violence, so if you can't handle some things, you better not read it here. Nothing problematic or abusive, but the struggles are very descriptive and the injuries too. Which was wonderful to me, because it was different from the many stories I've read. Anyway ... I will not extend for much more, otherwise I will end up telling everything lol To summarize, this is an action-packed narrative, magical battles with beings who are almost gods, stories of magical and immortal beings, leaps between different universes and anxieties about loves that need to wait a certain moment for them to be realized, and suspense. LOL .... It was not so summarized 5 stars because 10 I can't give
