Rodyte hybrid meets cat woman
by Melanie S.
Cindi Friberg's Rodyte expats - the Outcasts - have one member who is even more outcast than the rest. Xarron is a Tracker, a hybrid Rodyte-Bilarrian male who somehow is able to access the latent magic within him in order to trace both objects and beings through a psychic sense. This difference isolates him socially. He's not ever going to find a mate... But the Outcasts intercepted a contingent of volunteeer Battleborn brides traveling to their new mates, and one of them, Sara, is compatible with him! Him, and seventy-plus others!!! Sounds like slim odds, right? Plus, former Earth vet tech Sara is more attached to the rescue kitten (a baby Battle Cat!) she's hiding from the Sarronti... Ok, it gets complicated. Elves (Ruling Councils, rapist Generals, manipulative princesses, and unwilling slaves), telepathy and inter-species politics form a very densely woven background tapestry to a slow-blooming and sexy meeting of human and Rodyte hybrid minds - and bodies. It's a good story, a fine sizzling romance, and yet another fascinating glimpse into Friberg's magic-tinged alien universe. I'll be back for more.
