mis·placed misˈplāst/ adjective 1. incorrectly positioned. 2. temporarily lost. The Counterplay Series follows the Douglases, Adams, O'Malleys, and Caissys - four intertwined South Louisiana families and their struggle for power, love, and revenge. *This series is to be read in order and intended for 18+ audiences due to language and adult content.
Where do you start? There are so many stories that intertwine with the major story. Thank goodness, Ms. Burgess puts an appendix of who is who and where they belong. The story she has created should be made into a movie! She writes brilliantly and portrays the true ways of the Louisiana culture. The book is current to world events, writing seems to be free of misspellings and grammatical errors. The book flows in such a way you don’t want to stop until you are done. I love her trademark of the titles definition before each book. It prepares the mind fir what is coming. “Missplaced”? Apparently, more than one person or sets of people are not “in their place” and reap harsh consequences.
An extra delight for me is a character introduced as “Vivienne”, a form of my name. And some character is getting married on my wedding date! I found that cool! I loved every one of these books and pray we don’t have to wait too long for “Mismoved”. Another 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It has taken me a few days to get over this latest book and get my thought in order to try and sum up this series and give the review justice.
I frigging love this series, it is like a new up to date soap opera, with added sex, drugs, murder, deceit. I could go on but I will be here forever. This series is not for the faint-hearted, and some of the subject matter can be distressing.
The characters are so well thought out, one moment you love them, then you hate them. You emotions are all over the place reading this. Once you start really sinking into this series and waiting to see what the hell is going to happen next, BAM..... book over!!
I cannot wait for the next in this fantastic series. In some way I would love this series to go on forever, I feel very sad to know a day will come to complete this series.
