Feathers

Rate this book
Feathers, brings you into the world of fallen angels. Orphaned since birth, sixteen-year-old, Grace finds her teenage world crumbling around her. Her home is burned to the ground. Her foster siblings and housemother are killed. Her life falls apart and there is nothing she can do to stop it. Her dreams have become dimensions where she can be hunted and hurt. Words like fallen angels, halflings, and nephilim are tossed around without explanation. When Grace sprouts a pair of wings, things go from bad to worse, as the fallen angels believe she may be the key to them returning to the side of God, but only upon her eradication.

The story behind the fallen angels is an interesting one (even without being religious), and I love how it plays out here, in a contemporary setting. The angels are as lost as humans it seems; misguided, deluded, destructive. But Grace, much as she tries to resist her fate, has been sent to show them the true way back — if only they don't kill her first! Lots of heartache and humour (her conversation with God is hilarious) and action and great characters along the way.

The story earned 5 stars, because I absolutely loved it.

However, the editing of this title was HORRIBLE, which makes me want to give the title 2 stars. And, because of that, I won't be seeking out other titles from the publisher by other authors.

But, since I somehow have to balance that out… I give this title a 4 star review. Granted, 3 stars probably would have balanced that, but I loved the story and didn’t want to ding the author with a lower rating, so was generous with the 4 stars (the story makes the read worth it!).

Feathers by Courtney Rene is a great tale of a sixteen-year-old girl who hits puberty and finds her life changed more than just through hormones… She takes on a transformation like no other and becomes something no one has ever seen before, even those most like herself.

This story of angels, the fallen, halflings, and the nephilim is an up close and personal experience that shows us how important love really is.

This paranormal fantasy is a combination X-Men and Supernatural. Ms. Rene starts the story on a dead run and doesn't stop until the last page, where the hint is there is more to come. If you are looking for a fast, suck-you-in-until-the-end book, this is it.

Well done, Ms. Rene. Worth every star... and then some.

I purchased this book at an indie authors event and I'm so glad I did. This was well written and edited. I loved the take on angels and life's purpose. It was light hearted yet profound at the same time.

Worth the read

My daughter recommended this book to me after she bought her copy at an Indy Author Book Fair. I purchased it and I am so glad that I did. It isn't something I would have chosen without her recommendation. I must say it really made me think.

One suggestion to the author. Some time spent in some editing would be beneficial. Not to change one iota of the story but to correct spelling and grammatical errors.
