Boring
There was no romantic suspense. Too much focus on guns and fighting. The tension between royal and Dmitry was not believable or necessary, it was contrived and there just for the heck of it. I miss the way this author wrote Dmitry’s Closet. That was a love story with suspense and drama. This is not.

I skipped a few books in the series because I wasn't that interested in Dmitry's relatives love lives and I found the stories a bit repetitive. I've enjoyed reading anything with Russian mafia czar Dmitry Medlov so I had to give this one a try. As always Dmitry is at the top of his game. He's a few steps ahead of his enemies. His wife Royal is a pain. Gotta say I never cared much for her. She vacillates between being a tough woman and a selfish shrill harpy. I've re-read my favorite books in the series but I won't this one. I don't care for 'dated' books. When an author dips into current news it pretty much ruins the fantasy for me. I don't want to read about Meghan Markle or current politics in my fiction. I read to escape all that daily crap. I know this is listed as 'Book 1' but I felt like I only got half a book. I expected a better conclusion. I'll read the next book just to see Dmitry kick ass but more than likely I'll skim past anything to do with Royal.
This should have been an easy 4 *** read but between crazy Royal and ruining my enjoyment with current events I felt like dropping it to 3***. Once again I wish Goodreads allowed 1/2 *** ratings.

Excellent as always
Again great series, excellent writing some grammatical errors. But I'm not sure this should have been in two parts. It seemed to have a lot of fillers to get to one story. Gabriel's story was a two part story this one nor was Anatoly's to be honest. Of course can't wait to read the next part. But to save myself the anxiety I'll start buying them only when both books are published. They should be on audible.

Wow
Great book, intense, lots of action. Royal and Dimitry's relationship is front and center, but all the other main characters are there too with their own stories adding to this really good story. Looking forward to part two.
I do have to say one negative thing there are too many spelling errors.

I can't wait for the next book! I loved this story!
The Medlov family remains strong and powerful even when the czar himself is taken down. The Popov family won't know what will hit them. This is the first time I've seen Dmitry lose his cool. He's always so stoic in the face of adversity. I guess Erik Popov's threat to the Medlov women and children did not sit well with any of them. I can't wait to see what Dmitry, Anatoly, and Gabriel have in store for Erik and his supporters. The women of the family also have something in store for their men upon their return. I know it's going to be good. Those big strong Medlov men are suckers for their wives, especially Dmitry for his czarina, Royal. She's definitely the queen of the family.
Latrivia did it again with this book. It was well plotted out, full of drama and suspense. I think my heart stopped a couple of times during the attack on Dmitry. Royal stepped up to protect her husband because she could not imagine life with him. If he died, she did not want to live either. I could not stop reading until I was finished. I loved it as I have all of the Medlov family stories. Great job Latrivia!
NOTE: Update after re-reading 18 Aug 2024 OMG, my mind and emotions are just as messed up now as it was when I first read this book years ago. I stayed up half the night reading it like I did the first time. My emotions are all over the place. I felt the despair that Dmitry felt on the beach in Trinidad. I felt the absolute sorrow when the family said its last good bye to Sanaa. I felt Royal's anguish trying to protect her husband from the assassin and shouting at him "YOU CAN NOT HAVE HIM." I felt the absolute anger when Dmitry hit the table during the council meeting telling Erik Popov "I will not hide my hand and throw rocks. I will throw the whole damned world at you. I WILL F*CK YOU UP." WOOOO CHILE, Dmitry is a beast but loves Royal and his family. He can not see life without them and Royal can not see life without him.

Long Live The King!! 👑
OMG!OMG!OMG! Finally I have gotten my fix for this family.I have been waiting for another glimpse of this family and the lives that they lead.I love that everyone has grown and evolved into the men and,women they were meant to be.I love whenever the series is centered on Dimitry,because you know it is gpu g to be just epic! The writer does not disappoint and delivers from beginning to end.I love the passion and the back story we get to how Dimitry becomes a giant among men.I love we get to also see the weariness the comes along with being the boss.The writer gives us a little bit of the human side and its refreshing.The men have grown and they are loving and trusting one another hard.I love when the women can do it and stand strong ,I love it when Royal shows that gangster inside of her.Now I would love to see the women not only take a stand,but I want them to bring that gangster game with them. I want a sleeping giant awakened,it's time that the world knows that Anil is a Medlov and can handle himself and bring it when the times calls for it.This was just plan good and keeps you on the edge at all times.You get to feel all the tension,and the sexiness as well.If you have not indulged you are missing out and I pity you.Oh don't wait to long to bring the next installment its so needed.

The stories about the Medlov Crime Family, all of the novels this creative author has written about this clan should be a must read for your reading pleasures. This is a Mafia Story Gem. Dmitry oh my, this Alpha is beautifully, charming, damage, dangerous, and so many other things that sets him up high, above the rest. He is delicious. And his wife Royal is a queen without a doubt. They have created one helluva family together, through all of their trials and tribulations. Each series written about this family and the other characters who have their own stories written about them is a must read. This is my second time reading all of the series stories written about the Medlov Crime Family. And I will be re-reading all of the series again. It's just that Good, Very Good, indeed. Wow, this author knows her way around making crimes stories true to the narrative. So realistic with depth with every single word written. Her talent has me bagging for more of her work, since I have read other novels written by her and was filled to the rim with satisfaction. I so recommend all of the Medlov Crime Family stories and series. You. Will. Not. Be. Disappointed ENJOY!

It's War
I knew things were going too well for Dmitry. This was such a well written book and it is tying every thing up. It was good to find out how Dmitry met Sanaa, Anil's Mom. It was also interesting to see all the intrigue behind keeping the massive Merlin syndicate moving and working. All things are so interconnected. When the Popovs initially helped Dmitry, you knew repayment was going to be steep. I felt so bad for Anil and his Mom, they truly were the innocents. But it's great for Anil that he now has this strong, and wealthy family.
I'm anxious to see how successful Zoya will be with Erik. That's a very dangerous situation.
Truly looking forward to the next book.

I've been rollouts author since Dimitry''s Closet, been hooked ever since. To see the culmination of each of the insurgent interaction is fantastic catch up. In where they are at. Dad to cut off Anil's mother like that associated the re was a hint of improving her treatment. The big war is now set to happen let's hope that Dimitry and his strong minded family can deliver the victory that Dimitry laid down to Erik Popov. Waging war is not easy when you have a young family to protect and you don't know if there will be a spy in the midst of your camp. Can't wait for book 2 to materialize. Love reading the Medlov family series. Great Ms Welch, keep it coming!

Great Start with Book One
The Medlov family always makes for great reading. I thought the women in the family should have a better understanding of the culture they willingly married in to -- but maybe not?? The whining from them is a bit surprising at this point. However, Vasily does not hesitate to keep his folk in line -- he does not mind telling his wife the straight up deal! He is still one of my favorites. The men make the books worth the read. I don't want to give out any spoilers so I'll just say Latrivia is off to a good start. I look forward to Book Two.

Action Packed
Wow I was so excited when Latrivia announced this book was coming. As usual, she delivers a great story of probably my first book boyfriend. Dimitry is larger than life literally. I hate that this story is a cliffhanger but I know the next book will be awesome. I was proud of Royal for being able to handle herself once Dmitry was shot. It will be very interesting in the next to see how the Medlov’s handle someone that takes a shot at the Czar of the underworld and miss. There will be some retribution. Can’t wait for the follow up.

Latrivia Welch has done it again! The Medlov Family is back and in full affect! Dimitry is and will always be the man! But men need to learn that the sistas will not be silenced for long and it’s better to have them know a little information then to be totally blind. A good sista is a force to be reckoned with; but a sista with knowledge is a beast!

Amazing
Omg,I'm just so emotional right now it's like being in a roller coasters with this family I mean in a good way, like the movie Soul Food when the Matriarch say one person can deliver a punch,but when you put fist together you strike a mighty blow. Know matter the situation they always rise to the occasion. I have read every book you have published,and they just keep getting better,this is definitely a five star novel.(FAMILY).

I love the Medlovs!
I can't wait to read the 2nd book! Even though Anatoly is my favorite Medlovian! Dimitri is still the top dog and he's untouchable. Erik Popov is in for a rude awakening if he thinks he can defeat Dimitri. I'm dying to see the women take the men on as well and forbid them from keeping them in the dark. It's too much not knowing if all the husbands are alive while they sit with the children waiting.

I've been reading the Medlov saga for years, and I know and love these stories dearly. But please know your readers pay attention to details. In previous books Valeriya gave birth to one baby by her husband Gabriel. Why all of a sudden instead of the one, now it's twins in this book? A bit disconcerting. Anyway, I enjoyed the drama of Dimitry and his family on the run for their lives. Now I can finally read the next installation.

Another great read about one of my favourite Mafioso Families. Part 2 will not be out until September. This is the only thing I found really disappointing. I really hate it when the authors split the story in half like this and you have to wait over a month for part 2. By that time you have already forgotten what was in part 1. Nevertheless definitely worth a read.

Latrivia Welsh...is the ultimate player when it come to story telling. Every book I have read, she puts me right there. I love her style and creativity.
I highly highly recommend this series. It appears that the series maybe ending soon, but knows who after Dimitry's Retribution 2, because I can't wait!😃

I absolutely love this series! This author has been one of my favorites for years and she has yet to disappoint me. I enjoyed revisiting characters that I fell in love with in previous books. Seeing the men grow and the women step up was awesome! I only wished this didn’t have a cliffhanger. I was so into it and didn’t even realize it was ending! I can’t wait for the next book.

Totally captivating, this series is so enthralling you cannot put the book down, I loved it and cannot wait for the next book in this series to drop.

I love the Medlov series, but.........
This book had so many grammatical errors that I simply could not enjoy the story. The story line was great and I'd expect nothing less of this author but can we get someone to edit part 2?

Dimitry,is and has always been one of my favorite characters.I love his strength and power,but above all I have to say there is no greater love he shows then for his family. This is one of my favorite series and I can't wait for the next book. Great job author.

I can’t get enough of the Medlov’s! Waiting for Book Two! My only disappointment is there were quite a few grammatical errors throughout the book. Unusual for Latrivia’s books. Waiting for the Ladies to step up and show out! Keep the Medlov’s coming!!

I am so enjoying this series, the story flows so well. The p is I just want to sit and read and do nothing else, the mark of a good story in my opinion. If you like the genre I recommend this author's books.
