"The Desert Prince's Proposal" is the story of Mila and Tavon.

The hero and heroine are prince and princess of neighboring states that were feuding until recently. Meeting under disguises, have a ONS which turns into something more and fall for each other.
Soon both are called back to their kingdom, only to realize that the princess has been bethroted to the prince's brother, something that causes a lot of emotions and upheaveal!
Can the princess fight the odds and end up with her one true love?

Average book, with OTT dominating hero, a kinda strong heroine, hot sex, loads of drama and rushed HEA. I liked this much less than the previous books.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked the premise of the book. It was good and the chemistry between the MCs --Princess Mila of Sidoon and Prince Tavon of Altair, both neighbouring countries-- was sizzling hot. Lots of sex too, like all EL's books, although for me romance is not only sex but a deeper connection between the MCs. The book had a great start but toward the end it got very jumbled with the author trying to cram in too many issues in the story which gets resolved in no time - read less than two days.

Nevertheless, as I said, I really enjoyed the start of the book where the MCs meet at the zoo in Washington DC. Both are in DC to negotiate deals with various officials on behalf of their respective countries. Tavon is attracted by this woman and stalks her for a while. Her shabby clothes yet proud carriage makes him deduce she's under disguise. For a brief moment when he looked away, he finds his hand captured and held behind his back by her as she demands to know why was he stalking her. Even though he could've overpowered her in a heartbeat, he doesn't as he wants to know what she's up to and surreptitiously signals his bodyguards to stay away. After a little banter, he turns her into his arms and Mila finds she's getting attracted to her gorgeous stalker. They end up roaming the zoo together while careful not to reveal their identities instead playfully invite the other to give them fictitious names. They then agree to meet for dinner which at Mila's suggestion happens to be a shabby fast-food place. Both have talked their bodyguards to keep a distance.

By the end of dinner both couldn't control their attraction anymore & end up kissing. Then, as passion surged, both wanted to take it to bed, but Mila suddenly, unable to grapple with the new feelings that had overtaken her and the fact that she's not the ONS type, flees from there leaving Tavon stunned and frustrated. She spends a sleepless night battling between sticking to her decision of no intimacy with Tavon and wondering how much would she regret it all her life not knowing what it would be like with him. When he calls & they meet for breakfast the following morning, she suggests an affair for the one week she was in D.C and surrenders her virginity to him.

Thereafter, the two spend every night of the week having hot sizzling sex in her hotel room, parting every morning to attend official meetings to return to each other every evening. From the monologues we know they talked a lot yet even after a week, neither has any clue which country the other belongs to, what business they do, etc. On the last day of the week they only reveal their actual first names to each other, but continue to hide the fact that they are royals. At the end of the week, as Mila was scheduled to take off to Paris & he to Seattle, they find they don't want to stop seeing each other and agree to meet the following weekend at a rented house in Berlin which they did.

Maybe, it's only me, but I found it strange that even after a week of being so physically intimate they weren't curious enough to ask about the other's real identity and were happy with just the sex considering both were falling in love. What also amazed me that both supposedly very astute royals, didn't pick on clues that would reveal the other's identity like we get to know later that Mila has been in touch with the Trade Minister of Altair for one year over a trade deal but didn't connect Tavon's name to the Prince of Altair who's also its Finance Minister. Likewise, apparently Mila mentioned to Tavon about talking to the trade minister and Tavon changes the topic. I understand he wanted to hide his identity, but I found it very hard to believe a smart person like him was not at all curious what could be Mila's business with Altair.

What I didn't like was right throughout the book one has to suspend belief. I know romance books are meant to be a sort of escapism; it's why I read them, but this book was too far gone from reality. On one hand it tries to focus on women issues in real time that included # MeToo movement and yet it expected the reader to believe that it was a cake walk for two royals to roam everywhere and go unnoticed. I get that Mila stayed away from being photographed so is not a known face, but it was a bit too far-fetched that Tavlon too, could go totally unnoticed. No Altair or US press following him, even though he was in Washington for official meetings.

Promising to meet again the following week, Mila returns home to Sidoon unaware there's a bombshell awaiting her.

Throughout the book the author projected Mila as as a forward thinking princess who's very much invested in women's issues and is trying to bring the women of her country out of their traditional living by educating them, which is a good thing, but I feel sensitive issues like MeToo should be handled with much sensitivity and depth; not just tossed in for convenience.

Also, everything that happened from the press conference onward to Tavlon & Mila making-up was handled too flippantly. As I said at the beginning, everything got resolved in less than two days. Because of the lack of intensity what could have been a delicious angst turned out to be a mild, temporary deterrent and this is my peeve with most of Lennox's books. Despite the awesome chemistry between her MCs, her books still leave me with feeling of dissatisfaction, a feeling of incompleteness.

Among the MCs, I liked Tavlon a lot. I found Mila just about okay. Even though she had all the qualities I like in my heroines, smart, gutsy, impish, for some odd reason I didn't feel all that connected to her.

The epilogue was okay.

The next book is on Tavon's sister and his best friend Prince Zahir of another neighbouring kingdom. In this book there's a cute gym scene where Tavon and his sister are watching a friendly combat match between their older brother and Prince Zahir and seeing his sister's face brighten whenever Zahir gets in a good punch and grabbing Tavon's arm when Zahir is hit has Tavon wondering if the two were interested in each other.

A great read to wind down and relax to.

While this is book three in the Sheikhs of Altair series, each stands on it’s own as a separate book.

These sheikhs are arrogant alphas who could never believe that a woman might not necessarily be interested in them. And sometimes, it is these arrogant men that you actually want to read about – romance remember! Prince Tavon is one such man. Lucky Mila has attracted his interest, and he can’t believe that she didn’t actually intend to! In spite of herself, the man manages to let his interesting and gentlemanly side through, and she finally agrees to spend time with him.

Mila is strong and independent, which is surprising, given what kind of man her father actually is. When he puts her into an untenable position within Tavon’s family, she finally stands her ground, only to have the rug ripped out from under her feet when he threatens to undermine everything that she has worked for, devaluing the lives of others.

While politicking and underhand machinations are abound, true love always comes to the fore. Elizabeth Lennox has a formula that works, and it works for me when I want a light-hearted read that is pure escapism. 4 Stars

What a perfect love story!!

I loved this book! This is the 3rd technically in the series and it was great! It can be read as a standalone if needed. I loved Mila. She was using her status as a princess in her country to empower women. She was strong, intelligent and charismatic. Tavon is enchanted when he sees Mila at the zoo. The author created such a cute first meeting between the two. Tavon realizes early on that he wants more than just a one night stand. I really enjoyed this book. There are steamy sex scenes and a HEA. I highly recommend this book!!

Tavon has to be my favorite sibling from this series. I absolutely loved his cold and almost ruthless exterior. It was so fascinating how he and Mila met. Also that Mika saw so much more from him right away than the cold ruthless exterior. I loved this book and the characters well except Mila’s Dad who I kind of wanted to kick.

Good

I love all Ms Lennox's books. I'm impressed with her writing style, but in the same breath, I'm a little disappointed that she appears to be succumbing to writing her stories using a cookie cutter.

Stereotypical, predictable romance-not that it is a bad book. It's the big manly man fighting his attraction to a spunky woman.
