If the Seraphim have any chance of survival, you must escape.
Her words wouldn’t stop echoing through my head. Kaveri and I had been caught dead to rights, but for some unfathomable reason the Convectorate Spider had let us go. I had been dreaming about this strange woman for weeks now, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that our destinies were somehow intertwined. But why did she believe I was so important? Why had she really let us go?
I need answers, and the only one who can possibly help me is the man whose ship I just stole. Maybe I’ll get lucky and he’ll tell me what I need to know before he decides to shoot me…
SPIDER ZERO is a sexy, action-packed space opera adventure and the third installment in the best-selling WINGS OF THE SERAPH series (40,000 words).
Sarah Hawke is a prolific writer of science fiction and fantasy in multiple genres, including erotica, harem, and bondage. Her books are known for their intricate world-building, twisting plots, and fleshed-out characters—and of course their many intense, steamy sex scenes.
If you are interested in "pure" traditional harem stories, The Lost Fleet is the perfect place to start! Wings of the Seraph is a shorter, older series but also hits most of the traditional harem notes. Shadow of the Seraph features a rotating male and female pov with some F-F scenes involving temporary futanari, so avoid that unless it is your jam!
Her fantasy universe features many types of erotica stories involving bondage (Elf Slave, all the Spider Queen books) and non-traditional harems (The Amazon's Pledge, The Amazon's Vengeance). She also has two ongoing fantasy erotica series with intense action and multiple points of view, War of the White Throne and The Blade of Highwind.
Setting/Characters: We have no meaningful change to the setting or characters.
Plot: The main plot point here is Cole and company trying to figure out exactly why Spider Zero let them go and what her words about Cole being important mean.
My Thoughts: There’s a bit more going on with this one than the previous volume but not too much. Mostly we have Cole wondering at questions he doesn’t have the answers to. His odd relationship of largely being used by the medic so the medic can also sleep with his girlfriend continues and we get the addition of sexy… memories? Visions? that Cole has with a different version of Spider Zero.
This series still remains a harem only in the very loosest sense of that word. Though looseness is probably something all the characters are pretty fine with.
It all continues to be enjoyable enough but having read the series which comes after this Shadow of the Seraph, I can say that Hawke has definitely gotten better since writing these stories.
So the book closes with a Big Reveal, and while I've been expecting it from the first book, and despite it being ever so trope-y, this series (in addition to the porn) is more entertaining to me than most of the more serious space opera stuff I've been trying to read the past while. Sure, it's roughly an eighth the size of just ONE of David Weber's 27 book Harrington series, but this series at least gets to the point... several times in one book even ^,..,^
It's a great read. The third book in the series finally shed a lot of light in the mystery so far and it was great. The erotic elements were great and just in the right places. Personally I feel like the erotic elements are just a nice addition to the engaging story, not the other way around, which I really like honestly.
Another typically great Sarah Hawke story. Ms. Hawke is one of a few very skilled (and gifted) writers who can tell us a good story AND include hot sex. Cole and Kaveri continue their quest and we learn more about Cole's past. Intriguing revelations and a great new character in Spider Zero. Can't wait for Part 4.
Generally well written, but it depends on what your interests are. MC is an impulsive, stubborn, broody, selfish, moronic asshole with shit for brains. Author describes the series as harem but even after this book (3rd book in) it isn't true unless you include a lesbian plasma coupler and visions of an alternate future.
MC really only has one love interest and I don't like his character. He seems like a little bitch who got swept up and dragged around by a stream of events. Given what he's gone through it makes sense but I still view him as borderline despicable. The female protagonist is by far the better character (and person) and MC doesn't deserve her or his sidekick.
