*A criminal satyr, a cybernetically enhanced bounty hunter, and a lost planet, oh my!*
Before she was known as the Last Peacekeeper in the Galaxy, Raven Nightguard was just trying to scrape as a bounty hunter taking down low-life criminals. Tracking down the nefarious arms dealer Grendok, a satyr from the planet Galliforn, she soon realizes she may have gotten in over her head when it seems that every bounty hunter in the system is after him.
Grendok, who’s smuggling a mysterious cargo, makes Raven an offer she can’t refuse. Deciding his mission takes priority over hers, Raven makes the bold choice to help the satyr instead of arresting him.
Evading a ruthless Dragonian bounty hunter who’ll stop at nothing to apprehend the satyr, they make a jump to hyperspace where they unexpectedly intercept a long lost artifact that proves to be the find of a century. Taking a little detour to investigate the mysterious appearing ring world, Raven suddenly realizes that she and her crew may have just walked into a terrible trap.
In this exciting Science Fiction prequel to the upcoming Skywend series (a spinoff of the Gladiatrix of the Galaxy books), Raven Nightguard and her crew of eccentric misfit aliens come together for their first exciting mission.
Contains an exciting bonus chapter to Gladiatrix of the Galaxy!
In elementary school, Tristan Vick once wrote about an alien which came to earth and ate his all of his classmates. His teacher made him tear it up and write a *different more egalitarian story. Apparently, being the sole survivor of the alien attack wasn't egalitarian enough. Now he writes horror, post-apocalytpic, survival, sci-fi, western, erotica, thriller, romance novels and he's not afraid of mixing his genres either.
Tristan Vick is the Author of the zombie/survival/horror series BITTEN: RESURRECTION published by Winlock Press, and exciting new imprint of Permuted Press.
He is also the author of The Scarecrow & Lady Kingston: Rough Justice, also through Winlock Press, which follows the story of a magical scarecrow that joins the LAPD.
This year (2016) Tristan Vick will release three exciting science fiction novels through his self-owned publishing imprint Regolith Publictions, including Robotica: Ultra Heavy, a cyber punk novel, Exoverse: Invasion of the Draugr, a dark sci-fi horror with ancient astronaut and alien conspiracies, and Little Red Gauntlet, a steam punk fairy tale re-telling of the beloved Little Red Riding Hood fable.
Tristan Vick graduated from Montana State University with degrees in English Literature and Asian Cultural Studies. He speaks fluent Japanese and lives with his wife and kids in Japan. When he's not commuting on the train or teaching English, he spends his time reading, writing, blogging, and eating sara udon.

This novella takes place in the Jegra universe about a bounty hunter and a satyr discovering a strange artifical ring. Because the story reminded me of Guardians of the Galaxy, I decided to give this a shot. I liked the characters and the beginning has a good action scene. Unfortunately the main concept didn't last long in the middle. I wanted more action and see what is on the artifical world. Without spoilers, the main character feels something and decides to bail. Maybe in the Jegra or the planned Skywend series, the artifical world will be brought up again. The short is an okay introduction to the side characters and hopefully they will be explored more on the series. If you are a fan to the Jegra series or Guardians of the Galaxy, you might enjoy this novella. I thought about giving it a three out of five, but I think the decent writing helps it reach a 4.
Fantastic set up for a interesting series 😃. This is the first book I've read by this author, but I truly enjoyed reading it 😊. Thanks Tristan, I look forward to reading more written by you🤓.
