This was such a good volume y’all! We saw quite a bit of Aya so you know that made me happy. Towa and Mitsuki are still dancing around their feelings as usual. However, Rui surprised me this volume! I really just want to jump through the pages and hug this guy.

This ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I need to get my hands on the next volume soon!

This was a really enjoyable volume, and a surprising one as well. I wish we saw more moments where Mitsuki was more confident and upfront about her feelings for Towa. But at least we saw that Towa was more confident and even told them to Rui. I’m confused with Rui in that I don’t know if he has feelings for Mitsuki or he just wants her to get what she wants. Since Aya was being very upfront about his feelings, and he just wants her to decide what her relationship with him is. I also liked all the basketball scenes in this book especially with Aya and Towa finally able to compete even if it’s a practice game. Then the festival committee moments were great to because we see Mitsuki is more comfortable to talk with others and put her ideas out there. Overall, really enjoyed this volume especially since we learn more about Rui.

This felt so jam packed and there’s so many moments. Ugh love it.

Continuing joint practice. Aya dunks of Towa on one on one and Towa dunks on Aya during the game. Ohohoho. Aya kisses Mitsuki’s cheek goodbye and then Towa does the same. Rui teases about Mitsuki’s admirer. Childhood rivalry between Rui and Towa. School festival planning (lmao at Reina having Towa strip down to get measured). Rui gives his blessing, Mitsuki passes out and Aya picks her up. Bonus comic was Towa realizing he wakes to Mitsuki’s voice :3

Overall manga review:

A great series with unconventional yet super fun friendships. The character dynamics were great and there were many hilarious and embarrassing moments.

The romance was well-written but never balanced between the two male love interests. The protagonist clearly loved the main love interest only. The second male love interest, who just so happened to be the protagonist’s childhood friend, was extremely pushy and forceful. His every advance was evaded and unwanted yet he still seemed to think it was okay to pursue the protagonist. At one point she outright told him to stop but due to seem weird aggressive competitiveness between the two male love interests, which likened the protagonist to some possession to be fought over or some game to be won, he continued.

The sports element of this manga was refreshing to see and I liked that it was given just as much importance as the romance. I liked that the games weren’t predictable, but in the end the match that mattered between the two male love interests didn’t at all go to plan in a way that made it all feel so unfinished. I’ll admit it got a bit tiresome seeing all the characters take the basketball so seriously like it was life and death to the point that the protagonist was not only understanding but also expecting the main love interest to love basketball more than her.

Aside from some weird and questionable aspects this was a great and enjoyable shojo romance/sports manga!

This is about Mitsuki, a shy girl who starts at a new high school and wants to make new friends. She accidentally befriends the 4 stars of the boys' basketball team, getting especially close to Towa.

I still don't entirely trust Aya-Chan. He seems to want to keep Mitsuki exactly as she is and depend on him rather than encourage her to grow like Towa does. Still enjoying the series.

But I've been avoiding a lot of things in my life. I want to actually do them and change myself, and make my high school life worth something
It's more like a 3 star but I had a fun time reading this. However, I still have a really big problem with Aya and there aren't as many Towa Mitsuki moments in this one which is sad. The volume is more focused on the joint practice with Aya's school and the aftermath of those events. Aya declared war to Towa and now they are going to be face to face. Everyone is excited and Towa asks Mitsuki if she's gonna be there. He likes having her around and she assures him, she wouldn't miss it. Mitsuki is also really busy with the festival and she is part of the comitte and they want to organize a cafe with cosplays. Reina chan decides she's gonna use towa to draw attention and he accepts. During the joint practice Rui has some problems with Aya because he's running slow and Aya is being really rude and full of himself. Mitsuki has to leave to go to work for an hour but she'll be back before the game. While she's gone, there's a one on one, and Aya challenges Towa. He says the war message was a joke, but in the he admits he was pretty serious and everything is about Mitsuki. He injures Towa and he has to go to get some first aid. Reina chan recorded the moment and thought it was amazing (wtf is this girl on?) and she wants to show it to Mitsuki, but by accident she ends up deleting the whole thing. Once Mituski is back she starts cheering for Towa and her friends but in the end, they lost. Aya goes to see them and Mitsuki sees them and she thought they were becoming friends. Towa did the same thing as aya during the game and Reina told her about the incident while she was gone. Aya kisses her in the cheek and leaves and everyone thinks it's a big deal but Towa kisses her and says it's not. Mitsuki is really confused about everything and Rui is worried about her. He doesn't like Aya and he thinks her and Mitsuki are really different and that can hurt her. Rui has some feelings for Mitsuki but his friends believe it's just a rivalry thing. During youth basketball, he was jealous of Towa because during Valentine's day he got more chocolates than him. It was stupid but he felt bad because towa was getting better at everything. In the end, he realized it was stupid after a talk with his friends. Towa wants to speak with him regarding Mitsuki. Riu doesn't want her with Aya but he would be okay with Towa being with her. They can't date but he encourages Towa to tell Mitsuki his feelings and go for it before Aya does. They have a strong bond and it's difficult to get between the two of them. In the meantime Mitsuki is taking too much responsability and working until late, and her mother is worried. She gets a message from Towa saying they can go home together after the festival but the next day while she waits for Reina, she faints and Aya picks her up.
My feelings for this one are complicated: as I said before, it was entertaining. The basketball aspect is kind of meh since I'm not into the sport but i love them as a team and how supportive they are. Even the ex- captain came to see them play. I like how Mitsuki was happy organizing the festival and how grateful she is with Towa because thanks to their talk during summer break she decided to pursue the comitte thing and he listened to her. What I don't like is how undeveloped Reina and Mitsuki's relationship is. I wish they had more moments together and less with freaking Aya. Speaking of whom: he's an asshole. I don't get why he's so passive agressive towards Towa and how he always feel the need to prove that Mitsuki and him have a great relationship and how he's always there. Dude, don't you have to play basketball or study?. He's so full of himself and I wish Towa did more to put him in his place.
Also the whole Riu thing liking Mitsuki was kind of meh in my opinion because during the last volume he told her they were friends and no feelings were involved but whatever.
I can't wait to read the next one for more Mitsuki- Towa moments, even though I know I'll only get Aya.

Today’s post is on Waiting for Spring, Vol. 6 by Anashin. It is 176 pages long and is published by Kodansha Comics. The cover has Mitsuki on it looking very cute. As it is the sixth in the series you need to have read the first five volumes to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes shojo manga, high school romances, and coming of age stories. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close of Mitsuki. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

From the back of the book- A MOST FESTIVE RIVALRY

In her efforts to become a more proactive person, Mitsuki has agreed to join the school festival committee. Now she must lead the class in putting together a cafe for the day of the big event. Towa has agreed to help her, but his mind is elsewhere. His team is about to have a joint practice with Hōjō, and he and Aya will finally have a basketball showdown...!


Review- Mitsuki is trying to become braver by making herself do things like be a leader in class. She is going well and I’m proud of her for reaching out. Towa is trying to make his feelings better known to her and Aya is not going to stand aside without a fight. The characters are what makes this story so great and so much fun add in the lite sports theme and we have a very enjoyable shojo manga. Mitsuki is a good main character with a willingness to change to make her goals happen. Towa is very cute as he tries to be the best man he can be. I find this series to be very relaxing and enjoyable. I look forward to the next volume.


I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

A bunch of great characters in a not-so-great story. The primary love triangle here is... something else. You have the typically awkward about these things (yet kind and thoughtful) Towa vs the incredible overconfident jackassery of Aya.

The outcome here is absolutely written in stone and even pretending that Aya has a chance while he’s being a jerk to everybody who isn’t Mizuki is a ridiculous waste of time. Not to say that inevitable outcomes aren’t a thing in manga, but this thing is SO one-sided.

All the secondary and tertiary characters are what really make this series fun. Reina’s aggressive fujoshi antics are always great - she gets the best reactions this volume AND the most hilarious phone call in the series to date.

Kyo is the only person in the story with any common sense - his verbal smack down of Aya during the practice session is the best dialogue in the book. I also love the incredibly beleaguered team manager for Aya’s basketball team - she clearly has experience putting up with him.

It’s very fun watching these characters bounce off each other, I just wish the story was more worthy of them (I get the rationale behind a cafe for their class during the festival but... sigh...). If you aren’t expecting anything to break the mould, there are definitely worse ways to spend your time.
