"Charlie Campbell’s books and materials are incredible—beautifully illustrated, thoroughly researched, and very well written. He is an apologist extraordinaire! Don’t miss his stuff—it will stretch your mind, stir your soul, and bless your heart." – DR. ED HINDSON , Distinguished Professor of Religion at Liberty University and Gold Medallion award-winning author of 40 books
Charlie Campbell is the author of more than 30 books, ranging from theological resources to thrilling works of fiction. As the founder of ABR Apologetics Ministry, he has spent decades equipping readers and audiences with clear, compassionate answers about the reliability of the Bible, evidence for God, and the defense of the Christian faith. His talks have taken him to churches and conferences around the world.
Charlie previously served as an instructor at Calvary Chapel Bible College and director of a School of Ministry in Southern California, where he taught courses on apologetics, theology, and world religions. His ministry has been commended by leaders such as Jack Hibbs, Norman Geisler, Charles Colson, and Chuck Smith.
Whether writing nonfiction or weaving faith and adventure into novels, Charlie’s greatest desire is to point people to the truth and hope found in Jesus Christ. When he’s not writing, he enjoys beach days with his wife and kids, snowboarding, and cheering on the San Diego Padres.
The arguments have a refreshing brevity to them. But I gave up about half way for two reasons.
1) The tone of the questions AND answers assumes an attitude of sarcasm/know-it-all/gotchas/asshole mentality. I could have subtitled this book "50 questions a jack ass would ask a Christian and 50 jack ass responses." Now I know Christians don't need to be polite 100% of the time--Jesus could certainly be quite saucy--but it rubbed me the wrong way. For example, this is one of the supposed responses you're supposed to give a skeptic:
"God is certainly not an 'imaginary sky daddy" and you'll regret believing that when you stand before His throne on the Day of Judgement."
2) The book formatting is really unusual. I've read thousands of kindle books over the years and have never seen one formatted like this. I prefer "dark mode" with a black screen and white text and that just isn't possible with this one. It's also really hard to highlight and make notes.
While not comprehensive, it does answer many arguments that I've heard used when discussing Christianity with non-believers. It's a great starting point, and the first apologetics book I've read. It gave me a starting point to base rebuttals, and even reminded me of the truths I've already read in the Bible, and how to use them!
If you have questions, about the bible, God, christianity, this is for you. Its a good tool to help you clear some of the rumors and myth that are always being said from people around us. It’s very precise and short so it won’t feel like a really heavy and dense book.
An intense skimming along the waves of common objections and the life preserving answers of apologetics - this intense, fast paced book gives you a quick understanding of answers and ways to equip yourself in the rocky ocean of life as a Christian.
