Rate this book
A narrative giving a true and detailed account of the history of early America. The pioneer describes his adventures in great detail. The book has many anecdotes of him prospecting for gold, his adventures on the plains and his migration across America. George Hunter the pioneer describes his incidents of life in the civil war, besides the wars with the Indians.
Later in life, George became a lawmaker and served with great distinction.
The book is graphic in detail. It is well-written and a good read for those who like their narratives to be true.

This book is a first person account of Oregon History from the 1850,s to the 1880,s and a bit more. has the feel of speaking with Mark Twain, with just a little less Yarning. I live in Oregon and found this book to be fascinating and inspiring, as to wanting to travel around and see more of the places he speaks about. This was a Good Read.
