During Dan Marshall’s second year of college, the real world melded with a homebrew Towers & Trolls adventure. Dan got barbaric and battled giant spiders, an apocalyptic death cult, and an undead necromancer bent on flooding the universe with eternal darkness.
Luckily, Dan has two amazing women at his side: Holly, a grey elf druid from a powerful family; and Nadia, a streetwise shifter with heavy connections in the local thieves’ guild.
When Dan receives a cry for help from a long-lost friend, he sets out to investigate an eerie crevasse in the forest. After a clash with slavers delays his plans, Dan vows to defend a village of helpless elves. But how can he protect the elves and save his friend when he’s up against an army of vengeful slavers, mysterious creatures from another dimension, and a hot-blooded hobgoblin warrior woman determined to either kill or marry him?
Warning: Dan the Adventurer is an over-the-top adventure novel intended for readers 18 and older. It includes explicit sex, graphic violence, a harem of gorgeous ass-kicking girls, a murderous brother-in-law, monster girls, and bloodthirsty predators from another plane of existence. It does not fade to black.
More adventure, more women, more fighting! Get ready for book 2!!
Dan is back with his beautiful sidekicks and the adventure continues! (I will try to keep the spoilers to a minimum)
This time his adventures take him away from the familiar grounds of Penn State and into the forest to help a lost friend, save a bunch of lives, and...meet Holly’s parents.
The author did a good job of building on the established characters. It was great to get some additional insight into the characters of Holly and Nadia. There are also many characters that are introduced that I truly enjoyed and hope to read more about in Book 3! (Dan the Destroyer)
One of my favorite new characters is Ula, a strong, crude hobgoblin that can handle herself quite well in battle, and enjoys challenging Dan at every chance she gets. It seems like she will be a large part of book three so I won’t spoil it, but I am sure you will enjoy their interactions.
Another character turns into a major player at the end of this book and a major twist is added, so I won’t go too much into it, but it should be fun to watch it play out with Dan, Nadia, Holly, and Ula as the story progresses!
Dan spends some time saving some elves and gnomes that would have been screwed without him. The fortifying of Fire Ridge and, in particular, a new weapon that is introduced, was one of my favorite parts!
The action is pretty much non-stop and it is all very well written and flows nicely. Again this falls more in the gamelit category than LitRPG, but there is a part where it goes through some updated stats and damage numbers. (I’m a nerd and really enjoy those parts)
I was sad that my favorite character from book 1 (Wulfgar the vulgar sword) did not play as big of a role in book 2. I really enjoyed the humor and dynamic that Wulfgar brought. I hope he shows back up eventually in future books.
There is a pretty steamy sex scene almost immediately in this book. Definitely 18+. Again, as with book 1, the sex stuff isn’t exactly why I am enjoying these books, but the scenes are well written, and flow well with the story. (By the way, if you didn’t know, Dan is a pretty lucky guy)
Where this book left off has me itching for the next one, which I’ve already preordered.
These books have been fun and easy to fly through. The characters don’t take themselves too seriously and that definitely helps when it comes time to root for them.
I can’t wait to start on book 3. I can guarantee, if you liked the first book you will love this one!
Dan and his two wives, protect their friends and help the innocent. I like the action, humor, and romance. Dan learns a lesson about himself that helps him later after losing a fight. I look forward to another book.
This was a nice addition to the series. It took me a few seconds to fall back in love with Dan due to how pig headed he was being in the beginning, but the story extrapolates on that by making him grow from being so single minded after one really embarrassing events in the story. Also, I like the way that the elves are portrayed in this story as well. How there are different sects in the group and how now Dan's harem keeps growing. One thing I REALLY like about this book is the fact that despite being a harem, each woman is in herself a complete person. They aren't the usual background character that's there for eye(mind) candy, they contribute to the overall story and are a presence to be felt all to their own. This series can easily switch between characters and not miss a beat. I would almost like each of them to have their own story arc's so that we could learn more about them. Each of the women have a tale woven into them that seems to come out more and more as the series progress and now that two more women have joined the fray, the secrets that they hold have only added to the charisma of the story.
I love it!!!!!!!!!! So yes my 5 star up there is totally biased, but is definetly a story worth more that 4 stars. The characters are still well developed. We see in this story some serious grown up from the MC and also from the thieff of the group, we learn once again what is that makes Dan a character worth following, and that its his passion, the passion we see him give up when his brother died, the passion he was lacking in his original world, the passion he feels when he love his wifes, and the passion that ignited that lost flame in the elves. The girls in this novel are great because as some has stated they aren't there to make Dan look better, nor do they need to catch up to his greatness, in that aspect is the inverse he is the one that has to prove to himself that he deserves to have such an amazing girls by his side. Not to mention that they are quiete the nypmh under the sheets!!!!!! So if you are looking for Girl, Gold and Glory this series is for you!!!!!!!!
This was a very exciting and fast paced story. The characters keep getting better, much deeper and real. Dan is growing and his character filling out. The story is evolving and pulling you along with it. Need to read the next book!
The author really knows how to take the concept that he wanted for this book and breathe life into it. It hits all the great spots of a DnD game and an awesome book all in one go.
There is a moment where Holly is topd she has a price to pay in exchange for something she wants. I almost stopped at this point dreading some crazy thing that would drive her from Dan. Just push through and you will ve relieved to find out its not bad. Only reason this book doesnt get 5 stars is because Dan is behaving less like a gamer and more like a lucky idiot in this one. Hoping thats fixed in book 3.
Dan the Adventure is a fun, quick second book in the series. I like Dan, he’s the every man’s hero, he doesn’t do everything right, and makes mistakes, but is surrounded by an interesting supporting cast. Lots of action and the battles are well described, the story is very smooth. Good stuff.
The first book was good, Book 2 is better. The characters are much more developed and the plot lines flow much more smoothly. However, the most significant difference was that I felt a connection and empathy for the characters that was not there in book one. I hope very much this carries over into Book 3.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book even more than the first book. The characters are more defined in their natures, and Dan is growing into his Barbarian and Heroic role nicely. I will now plot on with the next book in this series which is already released. The book does have a harem and many sex scenes involving Dan and his girls in case you didn’t know.
I love this story alot and hope it becomes a long saga that will never be disappointing! The author makes Dan feel that he is one of us! Can't wait for the next book!!
AWESOME book as always Hondo our hero Dan faces more danger then anything face to face with Holly family will he served this oh also a dark evil in the forest and slavers a great book 5 starts. A must to read.
This sequel felt like the author ramped up every element from the first novel to ten. I loved it. The MC is developing, the supporting characters have their own arcs. Excellent. Can't wait for the next!
Once again I was entertained by the author's story. It strongly reminds me of playing d and D with friends. I was laughing at parts of the book as it was funny and made me think of old campaign's where everything just ended up being silly and fun.
I loved the first book. The sex isn’t overbearing, doesn’t drive the story. It’s just there. The story and characters drive the story and it works well. I truly enjoyed this book and eagerly await the next book.
The first book was a crazy intro; the second a solid hit. No D&D fan can read these stories and not see action, drama, romance, adventure, and humor utterly at home with the best old school D&D modules. Great Work. Definitely recommended.
I love this book. I love this series...the author maybe laying it on a bit thick with how...not-smart...he makes the mc at times, but I still like the mc. A great series with plenty of high adventure.
The secound book follows on from the first and id judt ss good. This is very much a reworking of the magnigicent 7 but with added oomph. The spirit of Robert E Howerd lives on!
Quite decent sequel that keeps things going. Very smart to develop the girls cause that's always a harem mistake either the main is underdeveloped or the girls are. Always happens bigger harem less time to bond
In the tradition of adventures of the slash and back as if they were alive again. As Conan grew so did Dan, going from nowhere to storm across the land.
