A j/p H who is overprotective, swoony, an alpha/dom, yet sweet when he needs to be to the h? Yessssss!!!
The opening chapter is when Meredith basically kills a man, a bad man, after he got aggressive and threatened her😬. Unfortunately, this decision isn’t a good one and prompts her brother, Lucifer/Matthew, and Simon to protect her because of who that man was. Meredith picks men who aren’t good and seduces them/messes up their lives. She never sleeps with them though.
Simon’s part of the team, a criminal team, that has various responsibilities. He’s the tech savvy one of the team, the nerd, the one that doesn’t like to be touched because he’s a germaphobe. He’s in charge of the surveillance for everyone, including Meredith, who happens to be Lucifer’s sister. But the thing is, he’s actually been watching/spying on her for the last five years, which means that he is OBSESSED with her 👀.
Meredith gets forced to stay locked in the compound because they fear for her safety. When she tries to escape, Simon’e forced to escalate his ways of protecting her (and to live with him), and it was all delicious. The fighting, the running, the catching, the biting, the restraining, the spanking, the sassiness, the holding down, the marking- that’s all my catnip!!! 🤤🤤🤤🔥🥵. Jeeezus- the first scene where he spanks her because she keeps being petulant/bratty was soooo good 👀!! Although Meredith tries to have the upper hand, she never has it because Simon has been watching her for years 👀he knows her better than she knows herself… which means, he knows all the tricks up her sleeve 🥵🔥!
All their interactions are explosive- at first, a bit of noncon… then it quickly turns into dubcon… and then it’s allllll wanted 👏🏻🥰🥵. Simon’s so damn swoony as well. He doesn’t “joke” and Meredith quickly catches on that when he says things, he means it 💁🏻♀️. He takes protectiveness to the next level ❤️😅. Annnnnd, he calls her princess 🥹.
My only gripe is that I wish this was longer 😩. Buuut I’m glad there are more books in this series- which means, they’ll make appearances lol. Side note- I didn’t feel lost not reading the previous books, but I’m definitely going to now ❤️. (Second side note- I read book 1 after this. What a disappointment lol. This one’s better)
ETA AFTER my third read SPOILERS What bothered me more so this time than other times is the lack of information on the last time Simon’s had sex 😐. He mentions he uses a service where the women are clean, sterile, and quiet. He also ties them down so they don’t try touching him. The only thing we know is that he called the service the day Meredith came to see her brother/Simon’s boss three months before- but he doesn’t do anything with the woman and leaves the her tied up; the woman complained and he’s not allowed to use the service anymore.
Why does this matter? Well, he’s been stalking Meredith for five years 😐 annnnd, because he’s been watching her, he knows she hasn’t had sex with any of her “marks”… he said he would kill them if she had… 🙄
Sigh. I wish we knew for CERTAIN when was the last time he actually used the service 😐. I’m not a fan of a stalker/spy who’s obsessed with the heroine and sleeps with others ESPECIALLY if the heroine isn’t sleeping with others. She’s not pining for him- doesn’t even know about him watching her- but still 😑.
I wanna say that MAYBE he’s used them in the PAST PAST… like before he was stalking/spying on Meredith, but we don’t know for sure 😐.
After talking to a safety friend, she agrees that we should trust Simon 🤣. So I’m bumping up my review again 🤣
⚠️safety squad⚠️ -no cheating/sharing/owd/omd -noncon/mostly dubcon scenes that quickly change -violence/bloodshed/torture/deaths -there’s a sort of gruesome torture scene towards the end (not too graphic but we get the gist of what’s happening 😬) -spanking/tying up/D-s/biting/marking/praise kink/breath play/edging -no virgins/it’s been a whiiiiile for the h/unsure how long did the H 😑 -no condoms (on purpose 😈😉) -HEA/epilogue/2 weeks later
I have to give the authors credit for being one heck of a writing duo. I HATED Meredith for the first part of the book, but the mystery surrounding the warring Mafia factions and the overarching plot, along with the insidious nature of Simon’s watching everyone, sucked me right into this story despite my disdain for her character. However, once Simon had finally had enough of her shrewish behavior (at the 45% mark), she became much more tolerable and I even liked her by the end of the book. Simon, on the other hand, is one completely obsessed stalker! I loved how he owned his obsessive ways, too, and told Meredith exactly how it was going to be between them. And he actually followed through with everything he said he was going to do, too. He was absolutely wonderful to read about. Kudos to Izzy Sweet and Sean Moriarty for another great addition to the Disciple series. Keep these books coming, but please, please, please write faster!
"Breaking Meredith" is the story of Meredith and Simon. WOW. This fast paced, lust filled dark romance kept me on the edge of my seat throughout, and is another wonderful addition to this series. Meredith: Our conniving, bratty heroine who hates her stepbrother Lucifer, and lives her lavish life as a black widow, trapping and discarding rich men.. Simon: The germophobe, neat freak, Lucifer's computer genius who had been a loner until Meredith entered his life..and the stalking began 5 years ago.. When a life saving attempt puts her own in danger, Meredith escapes to beg shelter from Lucifer, only to be trapped and tamed by Simon instead.. Filled with biting, spanking, chasing, creeping, voyeuristic hot sex and kinky hanky panky which doesn't seem to end- this has a crazy obsessed hero, a spoiled heroine, hot sweaty mess of lovemaking, loads of action and drama, and a dark end (its positive though). This was SO HOT, and the characters were quite horny, multidimensional and well written. Thoroughly enjoyed this smutty ride! SWE/Unsafe 4.5/5 P.S. Extra star for the breeding!
Pretty decent length and some steamy moments and lots of violence.
We saw bits and pieces of meredith's and a ton of Simon in the past books now its their turn. And i gotta say i thought Simon would be more darkish in his ways since he was a jerk and a torture type of person. But he has been spying on Meredith for 5 years watching his blackwidow hunt and take care of those men. Now his woman is in deep trouble..
Simon did give us some dark twisted moments with his enemies but with Meredith lord.. they were at sorta hate to love or annoying eachother to love. They pushed eachothers buttons, and Simon did dish out some punishments when meredith went little to far.
Things i wish we saw more a better sibling bond between Mere and Lucifer, we only saw tiny snip wish it was more. Also i wish Lucifer was that cold towards his sister few moments Meredith did annoy me but she grew on me pretty fast.
Low agnst, No ow drama ehh not really om drama (unless you counther last mark.), Drama, secondary charas, sexy times, no virgins both had past.

authors perpetuating harmful islamaphobic racist stereotypes about arab men to further the toxic man archetype in their “art” is such an ick jusss saying 🤷🏽♀️
i’ll include some lines from the prologue to make my case (in case you don’t believe me)
Ahmed’s eyes never leave me as he lifts his own flute and drinks deeply from it. In his own words, he’s a ‘bad Muslim’. When he leaves the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, he likes to indulge in all the vices the world has to offer. Alcohol. Pork. Gambling. Beautiful women.
the fmc also goes on to talk about how revolted she felt by “his kind” (which is totally justifiable if it was bc of his general predatory behaviour) but then goes on to emphasise that’s it’s “not due to his nationality” which makes me think it’s very much bc of his nationality. i know a freudian slip when i see one, girl you ain’t fooling anyone also i know how to read between the lines 🤨
“Things such as my true revulsion for him. For his kind. And his nationality has nothing to do with it. He’s just another man with too much money, too much power, and he’s long overdue for someone like me to knock him down a few notches.”
and lastly, i’ll give you the proverbial nail in the coffin
I nod my head and look down so he doesn’t catch the anger in my eyes. “We will marry. I will take you as my third wife, and we will return to my home. You will be safe in my compound.” Wait… what? He wants to take me to Saudi Arabia and marry me? And I’ll be his third wife? I shudder at the thought of being trapped in a country where I’ll be essentially owned by him and forced to completely cover myself from head to ankle in public.
i swear i’m not making this shit up 💀
again with the stereotyping about arab (and in this case, a muslim) man being oppressive polygamist who’ll marry multiple wives and “own” them like some trophy and lock them away and force them to cover up. not to mention, perpetuating the notion that muslim/arab men oppress the women in their lives by forcing them to do things against their will.
if it’s already this problematic at the start of the book, i don’t even have to read the rest to know there’ll be more of this bullshit 🤦🏽♀️
aside from the aforementioned problems, the fmc’s pick me “i am not like the other girls” “i am god’s gift to this world” narcissistic personality was absolutely cringe 😩
I was really curious about Simon, he was an interesting character and he found an equal match for him. The start was a bit boring, I don't know maybe it was just me but I wasn't into it. But then the storyline became more interesting and I was intrigued by it!
BDSM👋, Violence🔪🔫, and Crime. Meredith💃💋, wild child sister of Lucifer, is a thorn in his side. Simon🐺🍆🌋🔪🔫, Lucifer's right hand man in their mob, is in complete obsession with her. She is extremely beautiful and she uses her beauty to bring down uber wealthy men. That's her thing. She attracts rich bad men and breaks them money and spirit wise. She has even murdered a sheikh👹. When he found out he was her mark, she was able to push him off the yacht, leaving him to drown at sea. Meredith💃💋 looks at it as self defense, it was her or him!
Meredith💃💋 has no idea that Simon🐺🍆🌋🔪🔫 is in love with her. He has cameras all over the safe house she is in, so he knows everything she does! Simon🐺🍆🌋🔪🔫 for his part, is an extreme germaphobe, a strange thing to be when the mob does a fair amount of dirty, wet work, and owns strip clubs and bars where disease and drugs run rampant. Simon🐺🍆🌋🔪🔫 just wants to protect the ungrateful Princess👑....and this is how he does it. Bad Boy Simon is a binder, he's a tenth degree Spankmeister👋👋, and he's a stone cold killer.
ARC Received for a Voluntary and Honest Review. I also got the book📑 with KU.
I liked the back and forth between the characters, and the uncertainty they had with each other. Both were always wondering about the feelings and intentions of the other. This is the second book📑 in this series I have read. The beginning of the book confused me some, because I couldn't figure out what Meredith's part was supposed to be in this story. Meredith's character was also very childish, and spoiled at times.
This is the fourth book in the Disciples series by Izzy Sweet. Ever since I read Lucifer/Matthew’s book I’ve been super curious about Simon and was anxious to read his story. Meredith is Lucifer’s sister and she’s a master manipulator of men. The one thing she has excelled at is attracting bad men, then breaking them. She uses her beauty to catch them, then she strings them along while learning all their dirty little secrets. Then when the time is right she uses those secrets against them and when it’s over they never know it was her who was behind it. Simon is Lucifer’s right hand man and he’s an enigma to those around him. For five years he’s watched Meredith from afar to protect her at her brother’s request. In those five years she’s become more than a job, she’s become his greatest obsession. Lucifer is still my favorite in this series but Simon is definitely a close second.
Breaking Meredith checks all the freaking boxes. I repeat, ALL THE FREAKING BOXES! Simon is such a perfect H, and I flove him so hard 🥵
• Protective • Marking (she bites him during a lil spat) • Jealous/Possessive • Forced baby/breeding • Feisty/bratty h • Primal • Stalking/spying • Killing for the h • Reverse age-gap • Enemies to lovers • Tortured Hero • Nerd • Clothes-ripping • No-touchy H • Mafia/crime • Dark
If you like very JP books then this is defo for you. All the books in this series so far have been very JP books with lots of twist, action, slight darkness but not to much as I like mine super dark. Simon is the tech nerd with a edge he’s not just a nerd he’s brutal when someone messes with his princess. Simon was so possessive he had not intention of her not getting pregnant he wanted it just like all the other men in this series!! Has a mafia feel to it Dark JP Non con Dub con Twists And a whole lot of hot scenes
As I suspected, the violence and the dubious consent we're ratcheted up even more in this book.
Simon is absolutely crazy AF. He definitely drinks the Garden City water. He is so funny...his germophobia lends itself to some hilarity.
Meredith, Lucifer's sister, is a good match for Simon. She pushes all of his buttons and drives him even crazier. I love them together! I wondered sometimes if some bad guy...or badder guy (I know that's grammatically incorrect)... would kill one of them, or if they'd kill each other...
I think there was a lot more humor in this book...but I think Simon's personality and idiosyncrasies lent themselves to it. Either that, or there's something wrong me.
Anyway...I think I liked this book best out of all the other ones I've read in the series so far. (And I think I figured out who the mole is...)
Meredith (Lucifer's sister) has been thinking she's hot shit. In her hatred for her brother, she decides to dedicate her life towards ruining the lives of wealthy, shady men. Her last rendezvous with a Saudi Prince goes tits up when he discovers she's being tailed and threatens to kill her. Things end badly and she returns to Garden City seeking protection from her brother. After watching over her for five years, Spider finally sees his chance to claim her and steps in.
I was reluctant to open this book since Meredith had made a bad impression on me during the last book. But since this series needs to be read in order, I forced myself. Ugh, I was right to be hesitant. I hate Meredith so much. I spent more than half the book muttering, 'this bitch?'. I was overjoyed when Simon gave her the spanking she so richly deserved. It was steamy hot, btw. She's so whiny and ungrateful. She could've studied, gotten a career and moved far away from Matthew but no. She uses her looks to lure men and destroy their lives while living on Lucifer's dime. I can't believe she spent all those years thinking that none of the guys ever circled back seeking revenge. I wanted her head after that scene with the water and Simon's operations room. I felt his rage in my soul cause I'm a tech girl. Do whatever you want just don't touch my gadgets. My dearest Spider deserved better. But I think he handled her nicely. The scenes where he dicked her down were insanely hot. He was very Alpha, OTT and possessive that he hated her even talking to another man. I loved reading his POV and how repulsed he was by everyone and everything. Had me cracking up over his thoughts about diseases and fluids. Wish I could've read the whole book in his POV, far more interesting. One of the guys I was hoping to get his story got killed and another MMC almost died. Then Simon got his murder on. So sexy. I'm excited to read about his brother, Gabriel next.
You see, I thought this would be a fun and flirty romance, but what I got was way more darker and better.
Now, as I was reading this book, I had moments where I was so into it I thought I'd give it four stars, and then I'd have other moments where I wasn't as happy. At the beginning of the book, I didn't really appreciate Meredith. She seemed so arrogant and not at all what I liked. She just wasn't someone I could relate to. As the book progressed, my feelings for her got better.
Simon never got any bad feelings from me. Yeah, he did some questionable things, but he was a well written character that flirted with darkness. I didn't expect him to have a dark edge, though. It was a pleasant surprise nonetheless.
Moving on, the book as a whole is not bad. It's actually pretty good. I read it within two days and I was excited to come back to it when I wasn't reading it. I recommend it as something you should read when you're in the mood for something that flirts with darkness, but doesn't fully delve into it. While this book is not a typical flirty romance, it's not something that fully goes into the dark side. It kind of just takes a step into it. I think anyone should give it a chance.
Of course, I didn't like everything in the book. Meredith wasn't my favorite character and at the end of the book, I didn't really feel much in regards to her, but considering the fact that I disliked her at first, my indifference towards her is an improvement. You could also say she was quite childish, but her actions got better as the book progressed.
All in all, the book gets three stars from me. I liked it, but it wasn't my favorite book in the world. However, I still think it should be given a chance.
*I read an advanced copy of Breaking Meredith, given to me by the authors*
Absolutely loved everything about this book! Simon! I need more H's like him in my life! This is definitely going on my reread list!
"It’s tacky and absolutely what I expect all clubs like this to be like. Ugly and just waiting for the unwashed masses."
“Why are you touching me?” “So you will shut up and we can continue on our exciting journey into a filthy disease-ridden adventure.”
"Again, placing my hand on the small of Meredith’s back, I gently usher her to an open table. Removing my winter overcoat, I fold it neatly over the back of my chair. No doubt I will have to buy a new one after it touches this chair."
"Cherry is thankfully smart enough to know my rules of personal contact. She stops close enough to touch me, but doesn’t do so. I really do believe if she tried I might cut her hand off, and then remove any body part of mine she touched."
This series gets better and better! Loved germaphobic killer and hero, Simon and heroine, Meredith well not too much but she changes for the best after she discovered the truth about her brother, Matthew aka Lucifer and his protecting her and of course Simon, his protector!
ok I'm not going to lie, I knew what I was getting into before I started it and it absolutely lived up to expectations. I actually really enjoyed it. I am kind of a sucker for mafia books though
This was... it was ok. Like a lot of books, it had an interesting premise and plot ideas, but the execution was meh. It was a lot of smut and a lot of fluff (well mafia version of fluff). But not a lot of detailed plot points or character development.
I feel like the FMC and MMC were super toxic and codependent. Both have obvious personal issues that they need to work on separately. Their tension was hot, but the relationship? Oof. Don't know how that's gonna actually work long term.
I didn't read this series from the start so I'm sure I'm missing some side character backstories, but it does a decent enough job of filling things in so you don't have to read every book.
The spice is hot and plentiful.
All in all. It's a meh mafia book, and probably a meh series if the other books are like this. Enough to give you a little taste of mafia worlds, lots of smut to keep you satisfied, but minimal plot expansion and character development.
As with the other books, the violence was unnecessary, but at least the sex was hawt.
Meredith was an immature, petulant bitch. I didn't like her. And Simon seemed to have Aspergers; the OCD with the cleanliness and order, and the high intelligence, and the lack of empathy or knowledge of social cues. It was well done, though. His hard edges made his obsession with Meredith all the sexier.
I shouldn't enjoy this story as much as I do but it is that good. This is definitely the best of the series...so far. The characters, the he story, the connections. So good. I fell in love with Lucifer but Simon blows him out of the water. There is just something about his Crazy OCD Spock like logic that made him delicious. Loved Meredith too. Some scenes were not for the squeamish but it added an authenticity to the story.
DNF I really liked the other books but starting this i couldn't get into it. I found Meredith to be way to spoilt and the way she was it made me not want to continue reading. Maybe I'll try and re read again but for now not for me.
I admit I hated Meredith for the majority of the book but Simon made sure to put her in her place. Both Simon and Meredith were jaded, almost to the point of being unfixable. I loved how they fought so hard but were able to love even harder.
I'm always intrigued with how authors handle stalker behavior and how they try to make them charming (You by Caroline Kepnes will always be fantastically well executed), which is why I decided to read this book. I also knew that the breeding kink was involved, which is a total turn off and I totally have issues with it, but I tried to keep an open mind to not have that totally affect my rating.
However, there were so many things wrong that I personally don't like and frankly find appalling:
- The reader is pretty much cheated from seeing when and why Simon became obsessed with Meredith. It was the simple, "I've been watching you for five years and I became obsessed" cheap copout of development. We possibly get an idea from his favorite recordings of her but still it was not executed as interesting as I wanted it to be. - Simon was a let down, and honestly not sexy at all. He was super controlling and overprotective. His total disregard to her actual needs just because he believed he knew what was best for her, obviously that was to establish his psycho behavior, but it was a total no for me. Meredith didn't even know why she actually liked him other than having power over him from his devotion. It was just gross. - Then the bullshit message at the end where Matthew (her step-bro and Simon's boss) tells her women can't survive in a man's world without a man protecting her blah blah blah. There were just so many gender stereotyping and toxic masculine mentality moments/ideas that I was just not for it. - Is almost everyone freaking blonde with blue eyes? I swear almost every side character had those two traits. - Also, is Meredith really not going to have any real freedom other than going to and from the compound and Simon's house? How can she settle for so little?! - Lastly, the amount of grammatical errors shows the lack of editing. Chapters 3 and 4 were switched so I was very confused for a moment.
I could go on, but I don't have the time or patience. This book is just not for me even with an open mind.
I gave it a two because I regarded everything with a grain of salt, the sexy parts were good, and the dark moments were actually freaking dark and not some mild brutality I find in most "dark" romances.
