Stitching is Book 1 in the Abruzzo Annals Series written by first-time novelist Kim Nelson. A coming-of age story that spans two continents, Stitching is a tale of immigration, intrigue, vendetta and the arranged marriage of a young Italian girl, Josie Mattola, and her new husband, Giacomo. Their voyage from a small Italian village in Abruzzo in 1924 details the Atlantic Passage, their anxious screening at Ellis Island and settlement in Easton, Pennsylvania. As they enter into their new marriage, a lethal threat from their past follows them to the United States and in a stunning turn of events, changes their lives forever. This tale of two immigrants' lives is based in part on a true the author's own grandparents left Italy to make a new life in America. Stitching is dedicated to Nelson's grandmother, who with sheer strength and determination, held her family together through an arranged marriage, poverty, and danger in a strange country.
