Lady Caroline Alton is young, beautiful and in London for her first season. She is excited about her first foray into society, but family secrets seemed to be piling up around Caroline more and more each day. She thought she might discover the great secret in her own life one day, except when she did, she had a feeling that it just might change everything. When she meets Lord Thomas Steele at her home in London, she is immediately intrigued by the handsome, dashing young barrister, who is a friend of her father. Each time she sees him, she becomes more and more aware that he, too, is deeply involved in the secrets that surround her, and she sets out to prove to him that she has the courage to face whatever it is, and to stand beside him as he confronts the evil that threatens him.
Thomas, the youngest son of a Marquis, has been fighting an uphill battle against vampires most of his life. An ancient and powerful evil has come to England, and a physical battle, as well as a spiritual one must be waged against it. If the battle is lost, it will leave Regency England vulnerable to hell on earth. And yet in the middle of the fray, two souls try to find their way both to the light and to each other before the darkness destroys whatever happiness they may find.… Can love truly conquer all, or will evil consume them both?
Enthralled is the first in Elizabeth Jordan’s Orion’s Shield series which takes place in the 19th century. Two families live with secrets that can cost them their lives. Lord Thomas Steele, barrister by day and leader of the Shield to those in the know, is bound to protect innocents from the ravages of vampires that refuse to sign the treaty. Whilst Lord Alton is an influential member of the Vampire Council and doggedly protects his innocent daughter Lady Caroline, deliberately keeping her unaware. Lady Caroline’s frustration at being treated as a child plus her thirst for knowledge and tenacity in discovery set the two families on a collision course when her best friend is attacked just before their first season and begins acting “odd.” While working their way to finding the answers they need to prevent further attacks the families go through many physical and spiritual trials before the conclusion.
Elizabeth Jordan has spun the web to ensnare a reader in such a way they don’t even realize time has passed when they get to the end of the book. The only problem I have now is I can’t wait to see where the series goes next! My mind is already spinning with the possibilities!
“There was only one way to satisfy this terrible hunger she’d unknowingly created…”
Lord Thomas Steele is tasked with the job of being Captain of the Guard of a secret group of vampire hunters known as Orion’s Shield. When an ancient evil threatens those he has sworn to protect, Lord Steele must use all his resources to defeat this malevolent being before all hope is lost.
Lady Caroline Alton suspects her family is harboring a secret from her, and when her dearest friend is afflicted with a mysterious ailment, she is determined to protect her friend and discover the truth.
Lord Steele and Lady Alton are drawn together as if their souls recognize their other half…will their love be enough to defeat the evil or will the darkness take over?
This reader was absolutely enthralled by Elizabeth Jordan’s story! This page-turner reminded me of the Gothic romances my mom and I loved so dearly. Highly recommend!
Reading Enthralled was kinda like reading Dracula with some interesting twist. Thomas is part of the shield men who fight hard to make sure the people of London know nothing of Vampires he joined the shield after his brother was killed by a vampire attack that same attack turn Viscount Weldon into a vampire and a treaty was made that no vampire will harm a human but when the treaty is broken Thomas will stop at nothing to find out who attacked Julia.
Caroline is excited about her coming out in London but when she meets Thomas everything about him intrigues her and she wants to know more but can she handle knowing more. This book was good there were some twist and turns that you didn't see coming. Overall honestly it reminded me of Bram strokers Dracula. If you loved that book you'll love this one
Lord Thomas Steele is a member of Orion's Shield and the leader if the knights. It is their job to protect the unknowing populace of Georgian London from the vampires that stalk through the city. He has a compelling reason for fighting these evil creatures. Lady Caroline Alton is going to have her first season this year alongside her best friend. Unfortunately her friend is attacked and is strangely different ever since. There seems to be a big secret that everyone except our heroine knows. This is extremely frustrating.
I really loved this story. It was like one of the old classic "Hammer House of Horror" vampire movies. Lots of seductive manipulation from our evil ones, and wooden stakes and crosses flying from our heroes. Put that together with an historical setting and I was totally hooked. I couldn't put it down, and can't wait for the next in the series.
Don't let the Christian part cool you. There is lots of action and adventure in this book. Thomas is a Vampire slayer. He helps to protect London from Vampires. Caroline's brother Richard is a turned Vampire. Her family has hidden these facts from her. This story is complex, yet I could not put it down. I had to keep reading to find out what happened. Get your copy and find out what happened... Pam James.
Enthralled is a true romantic gem, I couldn’t wait till my reading time each day so I could dig back into the story.
If you love the older type of vampires that enthralls humans, kills humans, drinks blood, you can kill them by stakes through the heart, you’re bound to enjoy this.
Elizabeth Jordan writes a loving yet harsh world where Lady Caroline and Thomas has to deal with lawlessness vampires and let me just say Lady Caroline is no dismal in distress, nope she knows how to handle herself around them even though she has no clue vampires exist beforehand. My only reason for not rating it a 5 is the majority of the time I felt like the story was set in modern times by the way they talk to each other, but yet I am very picky so, some of you may never notice this.
I recommend this to anyone that loves action pack clean romance.
