The New York Times bestselling author of Panther Prowling returns to the Otherworld where one of the D’Artigo sisters faces a terrifying challenge that’s more personal than she ever could have imagined.

We're the D'Artigo savvy half-human, half-Fae ex-operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. My sister Camille is a wicked-good witch. Delilah is a two-faced werecat and a Death Maiden. And me? I'm Menolly, a vampire married to a gorgeous werepuma. As the war in Otherworld arrives, Blood Wyne, Queen of the Vampires, summons me. Apparently, my position as Roman's consort entails more than I imagined...

As the Demon Lord Shadow Wing creates his own sinister version of the Keraastar Knights—the guardians of the spirit seals—to destroy the portals and free himself from the Sub Realms, his ally, the necromancer Telazhar, leads an assault from Otherworld into the streets of Seattle. And my sisters and I are caught dead center.

Then, on the eve of war, my wife, Nerissa, is captured. The enemy demands we surrender the rest of the spirit seals, or they are going to kill her. I will do anything to save her. Even if it means leading an army of vampires into the very depths of the Subterranean Realms...

I really enjoyed Darkness Raging, even though it is from Menolly's POV and she's my least favourite narrator. The plot took a huge leap forward from the last book and a lot of significant events took place that brings the final battle between the three sisters and Shadow Wing even closer. It feels like Galenorn is starting to wrap this series up, and I have read that we will get one more book from each sister's POV and then the series will end. There are a couple of novellas to read between this book and Camille's final book Moon Shimmers and I'm looking forward to reading those next.

The war is escalating and things are changing for the D’Artigo sisters and in Menolly’s case, her and Nerissa finds themselves being summoned to the vampire court and before they can decide if the events are good or bad, Nerissa is captured by their enemies and Menolly cannot give in to their demands in this spellbinding Otherworld tale.

Get comfortable and be prepared for the ride of your life as you become caught up in the current events happening in both realms of the Otherworld series with pulse pounding decisions being made and thrilling actions being taken in an effort to stop Shadow Wing and his army. Dragons are filling the skies, the war is causing some exhilarating battles which of course has tons of emotional distress flowing from every direction and the haters have escalated their crusade causing chaos to the already exhausted D’Artigo crew. There’s certainly not a dull moment to be found which keeps the adrenaline pumping throughout the story and with the vivid details that the author provides in her well written scenes, you can picture each and every event as they take place, making it easy to become immersed in the story.

The fast paced and smooth flowing plot ensnares readers with lots of suspense, excitement, turmoil, passion and romance as the bewitching D’Artigo sisters draw you into their lives and refuse to let go as all the excitement that is happening, in their personal lives brings about momentous changes which adds to the emotional turbulence. Just to give you a small hint of how big these changes are, Menolly and her wife, Nerissa are summoned by Blood Wyne where they discover that Menolly’s position as Roman’s consort is about to change the course of their lives which in turn affects everyone else.

The Otherworld series continues to hold me hostage every single time I pick up a book and Darkness Raging is probably one of the most spellbinding as far as the escalation in the war but also because of all the events have sort of reached a pinnacle point in their personal lives as well and I can’t wait to read the next one to find out what happens next.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from Yasmine Glaenorn in exchange for an unbiased review. This book will be released in February 2016. This is book number 18 in the Otherworld series. Most authors I read can not keep a storyline going for this long. Yasmine Galenorn has pulled it off brilliantly. This story is told from Menolly's POV, although all the D'Artigo sisters have their moments, as well as the rest of the family they've accumulated. From page one, I was mesmerized. One of the most powerful books yet ! SO many incredible twists and turns and plot changes are done effortlessly. I didn't want to put it down, but was forced due to lack of sleep. This book was so strong, I was constantly dazzled. My range of emotion while reading included laughter, shock, tears - pretty much the whole gamut. This is a must read for any urban fantasy/sci-fi fan who loves getting lost in a world. Yasmine Galenorn creates the most incredible worlds and characters. I was actually in tears when I was done with it, as I know it will be a year before the next. Put Darkness Raging on your purchase list... it can be obtained form Seattle Mystery Bookstore signed by the author herself. Don't miss this gem!

After winning an ARC of this book, Darkness Raging, from the author all I can say is grab a large cup of caffeine and get ready for a whirlwind of a ride. Being the 18th installment of the Otherworld Series things are heating up for the D’Artigo sisters in a big way. In this book, the journey of the sisters races on and is told from the perspective of Menolly. With the craziness in the girls’ lives building, this is a journey you won’t want to miss. From the moment you open this book, which comes out February 2nd 2016; you will feel like you’ve hit the ground running. Yasmine Galenorn has once again written an amazing page turner. Each book of the Otherworld Series will suck you in to themagical world of the sisters, and Darkness Raging is no different. Though this is the last book with the publishing company Berkley, it is not the end for the series. Be sure to get your copy when it comes out, it will be well worth it; I assure you.

Eighteenth in the Otherworld / Sisters of the Moon urban fantasy series and revolving around three women who are half-fae, half-human battling a war against demons in Seattle.

My Take
I suspect Galenorn is finally going to wind up the Sisters of the Moon, although I also suspect that they’ll end up having their own spin-offs. Then again, Galenorn has been focusing on a different sister in each story…maybe she’ll continue with that. Okay, so I’m yammering on. I suppose it’s more likely that the Shadow Wing issue is the one that’s about to be resolved, and the girls will continue on. Lord knows there’s enough promise in their future for lots of action, lol.

It’s your same-ol’, same-ol’ good guys against bad guys, except they’re all supernaturals. Those “scary” beings that humans are afraid of, the ones who have been saving Earthside’s bacon for years. It's a nice dig that points to an underlying subtheme that has run throughout the series about bigotry and tolerance. There is a lovely comment from Mennolly about society not making the man. For all the stereotyping of a race, it comes down to the individual. Something we should all keep in mind. Another nasty angle on this bigoted issue is Nerissa’s family disowning her for following her love. I mean, WTF??

As Galenorn is using a first person protagonist point-of-view from Mennolly’s perspective, everything we hear and experience comes from her, as our core cast continues their quest to recover those plot coupons, the spirit seals so highly contested between good and evil. A power that could tip the balance between life continuing or...

There were a few interesting side bits: Mennolly's comment that there had been “a power in submission that I had never understood”; Nerissa's bloodthirsty negotiating skills (!) — that new “arrangement” with Roman ought’a make the future very interesting; some back history on Vanzir's lousy start in life (poor guy); and, Vanzir's big news and fears for his future.

It's a pip with tons of action — and some unexpected ceremony that will change everything!

The Story
It’s been a series of clashes Earthside between the forces of good led by the D’Artigo sisters and the battles fought in Otherworld by the Fae against an ancient necromancer. Battles that have left many of the Elfin dead.

Now the Demon Lord Shadow Wing is creating his own sinister version of the Keraastar Knights — the guardians of the spirit seals — to destroy the portals and free himself from the Sub Realms.

Then, on the eve of war, Mennolly’s wife, Nerissa, is captured. The enemy demands the surrender of the rest of the spirit seals, or they are going to kill her. Mennolly will do anything to save her. Even if it means leading an army of vampires into the very depths of the Subterranean Realms…

The Characters
Mennolly D'Artigo is one of three sisters, half-fae and half-human — a jian-tu by trade and birth. She was turned into a vampire and is now the official consort to Roman. Mennolly also owns a fae bar, the Wayfarer, where Derrick, a werebadger, is the bartender in charge. Digger is another bartender, and a vampire. Tavah and Johann help guard the portal in the bar’s basement; Pieder, the bouncer, guards it during the day. She’s married to Nerissa Shale, a werepuma who works as a counselor at FH-CSI.

Camille is the oldest sister, a Moon Witch and Priestess using death magic who is married to Morio, a youkai-kitsune who wields death magic; Smoky, a half-white, half-silver dragon prince; and, Trillian, a Svartan Fae. Camille must fulfill the role of the Fae Queen of Dusk and Twilight. Derisa is the High Priestess and emissary of the Moon Mother.

Delilah, a.k.a., Kitten, is the youngest and a werecat with two sides: housecat and puma. She’s engaged to Shade, a half-dragon who has lost his Stradolan powers. She carries a sentient dagger, Lysanthra. She is sworn to the Autumn Lord and can see and interact with ghosts. Maria D’Artigo had been their full-human mother who fell in love with Sephreh ob Tanu at the end of World War II.

The rest of the D'Artigo household includes…
Iris, a Talon-haltija (Finnish house sprite) and an Earthside High Priestess who does the housekeeping for the girls, who is married to Bruce O’Shea, a leprechaun, and they have twins. The Duchess is Bruce’s intimidating mother. Rozurial became an incubus and has been a bounty hunter. Vanzir is a demon with soul-sucking tentacles who is going to have a child. Maggie is a toddler calico woodland gargoyle.

Darynal is a Svartan mercenary and tracker and Trilian’s blood-oath brother whom everyone had thought was dead. Taath had been Darynal’s partner on their mission.

The Seattle Vampire Nexus is…
…Vampire Central and had been Sassy Branson’s mansion. Roman is the son of Blood Wyne, Queen of the Vampire Nation. Of his family, one brother, Caleb, has broken with his mother, and is no longer regent in western Europe; the twins were staked; Viktor and Encee know they are not fit to rule; Anastasia prefers to be behind the throne; and, Paulette is the youngest with the most issues.

Mennolly's “daughter”, Erin, is based here and works for Roman. Wade Stevens is a former beau of Mennolly’s; he and his mother, Belinda, were turned. Vampires Anonymous is Wade's baby. Arleth Mendez is the contact person to whom attacks are reported. Trent is Roman’s chief guard. Eletha is a young vampire and part of Roman’s staff. Kesana is the Great Mother of the Vampire Nation. Ron, Jacob, Sandra, and the twins Tico and Jorge are vampires Roman sends with Mennolly on their covert mission.

Faerie-Human Crime Scene Investigation (FH-CSI) is…
…part of the Seattle Police Department and works closely with the D'Artigo sisters. It's headed up by Chase Johnson, a human cop transformed by the Nectar of Life, who has a daughter, Astrid, with Sharah, an Otherworld fae queen. Yugi, a Swedish empath, is Chase’s second-in-command. Mallen is an elf and the chief resident in charge of the medical wing.

John is an investigator with Scotland Yard and a friend of Chase’s. Jason Binds is a mechanic/martial arts instructor. Wilbur, a former Special Forces operator, is now a one-legged necromancer and sorcerer who has helped the girls in the past. Martin is the dead brother whom Wilbur brought back as a ghoul. Down the Aisle is a bridal boutique with Hilde in charge of the other sales associates, Karen and Linda. Neely Reed is one of the founders of the All Worlds United in Peace organization and is in charges of strategy and policy. Amanda is the president. Carlos Rodrigues is the PR frontman.

The Supe Community Council is…
…the were-animal organization. Frank Willows, a farmer and werewolf, is head of the Supe Militia and part of the Council. Jonas Rigbee is the current alpha of the Blue Road Tribe werebears. Marion Vespa is the coyote-shifter owner of the Supe-Urban Café. Venus the Moon Child is the shaman of Nerissa’s Puma Pride. Lana is Nerissa’s mother who told her to never return. Great-aunt Lucy is the human who left Nerissa her money.

Talamh Lonroch Oll are…
…the fae lands in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range, and they are recognized as a sovereign nation by the U.S. government. Aeval, the Queen of Shadow and Night, and Titania, the Queen of Light and Morning, are based Earthside. Merlin and Áine, a green-and-blue dragon who is priestess, consort, and partner — and foster-daughter to Aeval, are going to England.

Grandmother Coyote, a.k.a., a Hag of Fate, lives some five miles from the girls and has a portal to Otherworld. Tanne Baum is a Woodland Fae (part of the Hunters Glen clan who hunt demons) from the Black Forest. Trytian is a daemon whose father is leading a covert army against Shadow Wing. Lokial is one of his. Ivanka, the Maiden of Karask, is a deadly and freaky Elder Fae.

Carter is part-demon and part-Titan (his father was Hyperion). Carter is also head of the Demonica Vacana Society and works as a records keeper noting how Demonkin interacts with humans. Shimmer is a dragon Carter had dated ("Flight From Hell", 0.5 (15.5)). Liu-An is Carter’s newest assistant, a Fae from Otherworld. Roxy and Lara are his cats.

Otherworld is…
…the home of the Fae and other supernaturals. The Ionyc Seas are an energy current through which the dragons and others can pass from one place to another.

Kelvashan is…
…where the city of Elqaneve is/had been located and where Sharah became queen. Trenyth is her advisor and most of the Elfin race is dead, including Asteria, the previous queen. Quith is the strongest techno-mage to survive.

Ceredream is a city in the east with a LOT of portals to Earthside, which is under siege by Telazhar. Queen Tanaquar rules Y’Elestrial, the girls’ homeland. Leethe had been their childhood cook. Aunt Rythwar is a paternal aunt. I think Aladril is a king, as is King Gwyfn of Nebelvuouri. Svartalfheim is the capital of the Svartan. Gylden is a Goldusnan city which got help from the Tygerian monks.

Dragonkin are…
…Smoky’s kin and live in the Dragon Reaches. Vishana is Smoky's mother; his father, Hyto, was killed. Thank goodness. Vapor is a shadow dragon. The Builders are workers.

Haseofon is…
…the temple where the Death Maidens live and serve the Autumn Lord, an Elemental Lord and one of the Harvestmen. He's claimed Delilah as his only living Death Maiden; she is destined to bear the Autumn Lord’s child. Delilah has a twin, Arial who died at birth, who manifests as a wereleopard and lives here.

Pentangle is an Elemental Lady.

The Keraastar Knights are bound to the spirit seals and are to be magical warriors to fight against the demon hordes with a fae queen, who will wear the Keraastar Diamond, and lead them, per the Maharata-Verdi, an ancient scroll.

Undutar is the Finnish goddess of mist, ice, and fog whom Iris worships, and now the Temple of Undutar is wanting Iris’ children. One of them, anyway.

The Subterranean-Realms are…
…demon territory. A world of worlds within worlds where Salamanders, efreet, Soul Eaters, and other horrifying creatures live. Shadow Wing, a.k.a., the Unraveller, is a Demon Lord of the Sub-Realms, a Soul Eater, who intends to take over Earthside, brutally. He’s setting up his version of the Keraastar Knights, the Saraktanas, using demons. Telazhar is Shadow Wing’s ancient right-hand necromancer. Xilan Ki is a lava-type river.

Tregarts are human-like demons who pair with bloatworgles, demons who breathe fire. Wuccan, is a Lychkonneg, a skeletal king and energy vampire whose touch could freeze flesh. This Degath Squad consists of three very powerful demons — a Naedaran (a one-legged maneater), a Shelakig (an 8-foot by 4-foot scorpion), and a Varcont (a Greater Vampire whose power even exceeds Blood Wyne’s) — aiming to assassinate the D’Artigos.

There are various hate groups, including…
The Fellowship of the Earthborn Brethren advocates violence against anyone other than humans. The Freedom’s Angels, a militant activist group, are their front men. Washington state’s Governor Sarkness keeps his hate covered somewhat.

The Cover and Title
The cover is a deep reddish brown, the color of dried blood, bwa-ha-ha. Well, hey, it is Mennolly’s story, and she’s off to the left in a blood red, shiny leather jacket, her very long blonde hair in cornrows that end loosely down around her waist and her black leather pants. While her body is tilted away from us, Mennolly is looking straight at us, assurance in her face and a battle axe propped over her shoulder. In the background, we’re in Otherworld, dragon silhouettes flying over stone ruins and away from the clouded-over full moon. The author’s name is at the top in a purplish gray with the title in the same color at the bottom with the series information in white below that. Between author and title are several info blurbs in white.

The title focuses on the Darkness Raging against the Fae, the supes, and the humans.

Sometimes you’ll sacrifice all for the one you love

I’ll preface this review with the following: I absolutely love Yasmine Galenorn’s paranormal urban fantasy series. I don’t think I’ve missed a novel in the Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon series or the Indigo Court Series. I’m catching up on the Fly By Night series. They are all 5 Star reads in my books. They are full of action and adventure. The suspense always keeps me glued to the page. To top that off they are set in the Seattle area which I will always consider home. That being said…

Darkness Raging is told from Menolly D’Artigo’s POV. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the series, each book in the series is told from the POV of one of three D’Artigo sisters, Camille, Delilah and Menolly. The D’Artigo sisters are half-human and half-fae. Each has unique attributes. Camille is a moon witch and soon to be crowned as one of three earthside fae queens. She also has three sexy intriguing and unique husbands. Delilah is the only living Death Maiden for the Autumn Lord. She is engaged to a Shadow Dragon shifter. In her living life, Menolly was a jian-tu (acrobat). Now she is a half-fae vampire. She is married to the werepuma, Nerissa and consort to the prince of the vampire nation, Roman.

With Darkness Raging being the 18th book in the series you can imagine there is a lot of history. Luckily, each book stands on its own. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend that you read them all. Each is fast paced and action packed. But like all series they build on what has come before. That being said, the sisters are at war. They were sent earthside from the fae realm by the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. Very quickly they became enmeshed in a quest to find nine spirit seals and save both Earthside and Otherworld from the machinations of Shadow Wing, Demon Lord of the Subterranean Realm. Things have been getting pretty dire up to the point where Darkness Raging begins. Otherworld has been devastated by war. The enemy holds half the seals. The paranormals earthside are constantly bombarded by the insurgent maneuvering of demons from the sub-realms. If that weren’t bad enough they have to deal with human hate groups.

Life is a challenge before you add in the complexities of love and relationships. Menolly has no sooner gotten her marriage and relationship with Nerissa on track than a new wrench is thrown into their works. Vampire Queen, Blood Wyne has decided that her son Roman needs an heir, a princess rather than a consort and if she can’t have Menolly without Nerissa then she’ll take both. The reclusive dragons have decided to enter the fray. Shadow Wing has a few more nasties in store for everyone in his maniacal madness. Then Nerissa is captured.

Darkness Raging is about making the hard choices… growing up, making sacrifices and moving on. As usual, I had my moments of laughter and my moments of tears. I have totally fallen in love with the D’Artigo sisters and their cast of supporters. If there is one downfall in all of this, it’s the fact that I know that the end is coming… just three more books until the series comes to an end. I am ever thankful that Ms. Galenorn has begun another series, Fly By Night that spins off from this one. So, if you are still confused as to whether or not I would recommend Darkness Raging… wake up! That’s a resounding YES! If you like the fantastical world of the paranormal then you are going to love this series.

Menolly is in the trenches of the war with Demon Lord Shadow Wing and as things heat up, Menolly finds that the heat from war is about o get much closer to home than she thought.

With Shadow Wing trying to create his own twisted versions of the Keraastar Knights to destroy the portals and free him to ravage the worlds, the D’Artigo sisters are in his way along with their friends, families and allies. But when word gets to Shadow Wing of his necromancer’s fall in the Otherworld by these sisters, well lets just say things hit the fan. Now war is more personal than even the D’Artigo sisters have known before. But before they can formulate a plan to battle Shadow Wing, Menolly finds out the enemy has kidnapped her wife, Nerissa. Now all bets are off as she, along side a few allies, race to the Subterranean Realms to rescue Nerissa and deal a blow to the Demon Lord.

OH.MY.GOD. Yasmine Galenorn ratchets up the tension in her latest chapter in the Otherworld Series and delivers a pulse pounding, wild ride from start to finish. With a few twists that I sure did not see coming, this author delivers a story that left me eager for more. The story flows smoothly and keeps t he suspense and tension up on high as the war on both Earth and the Otherworld raises the bar. With a few revealing twists, the authors keeps the reader glued to the pages and doesn’t let go of them until the very end. This is definitely one of the best books in the series and you can see the end game in sight….now just have to patiently wait for it to come out from the author.

What I love about this series is how much the characters grow with each book. Each book is with a different sister narrating and we see their story advance even as the other sisters story lines continue as well. Menolly is a vampire and mated to the Prince of the Vampires, Roman and married to werepuma Nerissa. She is complex, has vulnerabilities and more that I empathized with and cheered when she was able to defeat said demons and learn to live happily as she can with her wife and family. This is an author who knows how to create complex, intriguing characters that you just can not help but fall in love with. Since the first book, Witchling, I fell in love with the D’Artigo sisters and their roster of friends and family and as the series continued, I found myself on pins and needles, waiting to see what would happen next for them. Even as Ms. Galenorn goes with a new publisher for the rest of the books in the series, I am really hoping she doesn’t wait too long in finishing this wonderful Spirit Seals story line.

DARKNESS RAGING is action packed, filled with the right amount of tension, mystery and romance to even things out. The reader will get lost in the world this fabulous author has created and written so well, you just want to go for a visit and never want to leave. If you haven’t tried her books before, then I highly recommend the Otherworld series and tell you to start from the beginning of t he series in order to see where the sisters go and find. I am eager to see where the author heads in her Otherworld series and hope the next book comes out soon.

Review originally posted on my blog: A Book Obsession

This series has been very long running, and in my review of the last book I had mentioned that I felt it has been going on almost too long. There was a lot of rinse and repeat it felt, and I have to admit I was a bit leery to read this one as a result. That being said, DARKNESS RAGING felt a lot fresher than recent installments, and I found myself enjoying it a good bit more. It reads almost like a series ending book which I appreciated. From what I understand, Yasmine will be publishing further installments on her own, but she ended this last book with her publisher in a place that will leave readers satisfied if they choose to stop. Again this is something I appreciate as the series wasn't really working for me anymore. But who knows, I still may give future books a try, but if not, I'm largely happy with how things turned out. So fans of the series should be pleased with DARKNESS RAGING and the progression/resolution of many of the long running threads.

One complaint I did have with the book despite the resolution was the romance, which frankly led me to skim parts of the book. As much as I enjoy romance in my urban fantasies, I have to admit this one drives me a bit batty. Sure, Menolly and Nerissa have a really strong love for one another, but I feel like that fact is constantly pounded into my head due to the complication with Roland. There was a glimmer of hope for a better balance in the mid part of this book, but even so, it seemed every interaction between the three of them had to mention/reinforce that while Menolly and Roland have a bond, it will never be anything compared to her and Nerissa. It was just too much of the same point over and over again, leaving me a bit frustrated.

But back to the good, there's plenty of action this time around, and things with Shadow Wing finally come to a head. I won't spoil things, but suffice it to say that overall DARKNESS RAGING kept me entertained and satisfied by the end with both the book and the series. Fans of this long running series should be pleased as well.

Menolly is back! If you are a fan of this series, this book is no reason to stop. There are several game changers here that set the events of the final three books in motion. If you love Urban Fantasy but are not familiar with Yasmine Galenorn, you should consider these books for your to-read pile. However, “Darkness Raging” is not the best place to start if you are new to the series because it is the 18th book of the series. Although Yasmine does try to include a simplistic synopsis chapter of some prior events in each of her books, there is simply too much backstory. Therefore, it is probably best to begin with her first Otherworld book, “Witchling”. Since the last three books will be released yearly, there is plenty of time to catch up. If you are intimated by the length of the series but are still interested in giving it a try, there is her new Fly By Night book, “Flight From Death”. It is the first of a spin-off series set in the same universe as Otherworld. There are also several Otherworld novellas mostly available via eBook format to check out as well.

I would like to disagree with the publisher’s decision to categorize the Otherworld series as Romance. These books should be classified as Urban Fantasy. Yes, there are a few brief sections of explicit material, but it is not at all the center plot of the story. These sections can easily be skipped without missing any plot, but if you like you some spice, they are tasty.

What makes me a fan of the Otherworld series is the change in point-of-view for each book. The POV characters rotate between the three sisters, making each book have a fresh perspective from the previous one. I also love the universe created for this series. It is a coexisting blend of familiar mythologies that make this world unique. Although not as meaty as other fantasy books, they are still whimsical yet grounded stories that will keep you satisfied and wanting more.

I disclose that I received a free Advanced Reading Copy in exchange for this review.

Otherworld book #18, told by Menolly. Things are changing and changing fast for the sisters and their friends. Camille has been told that she must take her place with the faerie queens soon and Delilah is moving up her wedding with Chase. Now Blood Wyne has decided that it is needed for Menolly to become more than just the official consort of her son Roman, she and Nerissa are to become his wives. And that is just the personal side of things.

On the war front, things are heating up. Camille has called in her favor with the dragons to help against Telazhar in Otherworld and his reign of terror is finally at an end. Unfortunately, Shadow Wing is still out there and taking advantage of the portals popping up everywhere to send his allies over to wreck havoc here on Earth. After taking out Telazhar, the sisters are now in his sights so he does what any self-respecting villain does and snatches Nerissa and will exchange her for the 4 spirit seals that the sisters have found so far. That would give him 8 with only one still to be found before the separation of the worlds can be undone. Menolly knows she can't risk everyone and everything to save her wife but there is no way she can just sit by either...

After a big lull in the major plot of the series, things are coming to a head rapidly. This book moved super fast and I found it almost crazy how much was dealt with. It was good and I enjoyed it but it was almost too much, too fast. It left me with a sense of reader's whiplash. LOL

I received an ARC in exchange for a fair review.

First off, i want to say OUTSTANDING! Yasmine Galenorn has done it yet again! I refuse to post spoilers but this is a must read. Things are changing in big ways for our favorite sisters. They are facing some of the biggest battle and upheavals yet. This book is full of turns and twists that I didn't see coming. So many things are happening as they get ready to face their enemy! I can not wait to see what happens. All i can say is if you haven't read this series go buy Witchling now! You wont be able to stop. Ms Galenorn is capable of weaving magic using her words. They will transport you to the beauty of Otherworld, the harsh reality of the sub realms and the gritty realness of earth. Come and join the ride! You wont be disappointed, I promise.

I've been a BIG fan of the Otherworld Series since the beginning and always eagerly await Galenorn's next installment. (Plus, check out her other series books, just as good.) The war against Shadow Wing is coming to a head and it's do or die for the D'Artigo Sisters. They must prevail or the world may end as they know it. Menolly and Nerissa's relationship is strengthened and reshaped to move forward into their new future. Edge of your seat action as Menolly and crew embark on an extremely dangerous mission to rescue her wife, Nerissa, from the hands of Shadow Wing.

I was lucky enough to win the arc. And as she always does, Yasmine Galenorn put me right there in the middle of it all. Kept on the edge of my seat, and losing sleep. Menolly has an amazing journey in this book. I couldn't put it down. And I wish I had the next book already! Well done. I can't wait for the next adventure!

This installment was wonderful! Lots of action that was focused and moved the plot forward. I especially loved all the insight into Menolly's relationships - with her sisters, Nerissa, Roman. Finally it feels like the sisters are truly growing into the roles Fate has cast them in. Love!

Round up to 4.5 stars. So sad this is over. I wish I didn't have to wait a year to see what happens next. Review to come at AAR.

This book was really good - great even - but due to a couple different continuity errors it lost some of its punch. Also, though I cried three times, I don't think I ever laughed, so I think even without the continuity errors I might still rate it *just* four stars.

Regarding the errors, one concerned the number of found spirit seals. If you've been reading along or following my reviews, you know that eight have been found: the forces for good had four, and Shadow Wing's forces had three. Well, in this book (I think), we learned that

When this story opens, we learn that it has been a month or three since the events in the last book and Telazhar has stepped up his war efforts. Menolly, et.al., were fighting bands of goblins and bone walkers coming Earthside via new rogue portals. Well, somewhere around the middle of this story, :-)

But then later, when So. . . *grrr*

And then in the end we were told that the

Also in the end, Menolly had a thought about how spring had definitely arrived in Seattle. Nothing wrong with that, except for how earlier in the story it was early summer and the ending was maybe only a week or so after the beginning. :-(

So these errors took a lot of my enjoyment for this story out of me. Continuity errors: I despise them!

And I'm disappointed because there was a lot of good stuff in this story. I cried three times, as I said up above: On page 39, in relief with Trenyth; on page 71 when the dragons appeared; and after finishing the book on page 276. :-)

We were witness to more changes in the D'Artigo sisters' lives: (!!!) :-)

Also, :-)

So lots of good stuff happened. And lots of changes are ahead for them all. :-)

I just wish the publisher hadn't cancelled their contract for these stories. The next three books look to be self-published by the author and seem to only be available as either e-books or trade paperbacks.

But I will still buy them. So, on to how this book ends. . .

In the end, Menolly and her sisters :-)

This is part of the Otherworld or Sisters of the Moon series, which needs to be read in order. The first book is Witchling.

This installment is from Menolly's perspective. This is one of those critical turning point tales in a series. The one that begins to set up those big changes for the eventual end game.
Again a wonderful tale, that twists and turns as it goes on. This time, everyone's world is going to change, some changes bigger than the others, some expected to an extent while others not so much.
This time the sisters are the target of three demon assassins. If that wasn't enough, Blood Wyne, Queen of all Vampires have plans for Menolly, and if that isn't enough, a major battle must commence to help the Elves, and then if things weren't hectic enough, Nerissa gets taken to the Subterranean Realms and is being ransomed, for a cost that could never be paid without sacrificing everything the sisters and their allies have fought for.

Its funny, at the beginning of this series I just wasnt that fond of Menolly's books, now I love them, so much action, and now with the THRUPLE in full MARRIED SWING, it balances out how dark the books are getting due to the war.

This one had a lot. Blood Wyne was back, a wedding, war over in Otherworld and the Dragons swooping in to help. Headed to the Sub-Realm. You can tell we are headed to the end of the series.

Enjoyed it!
I can see that Yasmine is working on tying up some plot lines and moving events to the big conclusion. Lots of stuff has happened in this book and the two before it, and while I'm super interested in seeing how things will culminate, I'm also sad that such a long-running and beloved series is soon ending.
Can't wait until Moon Shimmers hits my Kindle in April!

This is one of a series of Otherworld fantasy novels, about the three D'Artigo sisters, who are part fae & part human living in present day America. One is a witch, one is a werepuma & one is a vampire. They all try to protect earthside, as well as otherworld, from bad things. It's a gripping series if you love fantasy & contains explicit sexual words, here & there.

Changing Lives

Times are changing and the three sisters are facing changes in their own lives. The war with Shadow Wing also changes. They know he is now seeking revenge against them. I have come to feel like the sisters are personal friends. I share their victories and their defeats. I feel their joy and their sorrow. I'm ready for the next book.

Yashmine is doing very well setting us up for the finale of the series. She's just smoothly guiding us there. Although I will miss the series I feel it has gone as far as it can go. I've been reading these for so long it will be like losing an old friend.

Darkness

I love this series but I fear its end is near. I hate that feeling and I hate change, but it is what it is. Oh but I am still looking forward to the next book. Great read!!!
