My Hero Academia: What would the world be like if 80 percent of the population manifested superpowers called "Quirks"? Heroes and villains would be battling it out everywhere! Being a hero would mean learning to use your power, but where would you go to study? The Hero Academy of course! But what would you do if you were one of the 20 percent who were born Quirkless? RWBY: When the people of Remnant aren't fighting monsters, they still find conflict among themselves. Now they are at fierce odds. Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long are Team RWBY. Together they are learning the deadly craft of hunting the monstrous species known as the Grimm. Teen Audiences.
Well this was interesting. Not really my kind of thing but still kind of fun.
I'm not really into endless fight scenes, even in western comics but I enjoyed this for what it is.
I preferred the art in MHA. Vibrant and expressive with a real sense of extreme, fast motion. The physical hits looked awfully painful
I also liked the way the 'greek chorus' was watching the fight and supplying am ongoing commentary.
Not bad overall.
I found RWBY less satisfying. The art work was not the best. All the action seemed to be taking place in a white, empty void. That's never good. There no sense of place in the excerpt.
The creature was ill defined and the characters floated about in a mixed up fashion.
And they talked too much and what they said was not particularly interesting.
And it didn't seem like the story was very interesting.
Final Summary:
I'd read any MHA that came my way. I know a bit about the whole setup and it sounds like fun.
Hmmm, well, I've never watched either of these (although I just had a quick look on crunchyroll). If you don't know what they are, you don't learn much.
Now that I've watched a bit and re-flicking through the comics, I can understand them a bit more.
Still, the Academia comic is pretty lacklustre in terms of any story - pretty cool art though. And the RWBY comic is lacking even more. And the action is pretty messy.
Well, this isn't a comic that would encourage someone new to the franchise to start reading or watching. I got the jist of what was going on but it didn't make me want to read on. I may try the anime but I doubt I'd continue with the manga right now. Cool cover though.
