Okay...so I know a few months ago I posted a review on another one of Bryant's works that stated I wouldn't read this author again...and then I did. I was curious to see if the work had improved, as well as attempting to incorporate more holiday-themed reading this season. But I suppose I should have just gone with my intuition. 😕

Elaine can't wait to unveil her big plan to her longtime girlfriend, Jenna. She is going to get them a puppy, something that Jenna's wanted for a while. But that all goes out the window when Jenna tells her that she's been cheating on Elaine and is now pregnant. Furious, Elaine wants nothing to do with her.

She calls to cancel, but the woman at the shelter convinces her it would be good to get a pet to cope with the loss of Jenna. This is how she meets Gillian & they instantly hit it off. At this point, the only thing I cared about was the dog.

Of course they get their horrible HEA, & Gillian was okay. Elaine was awful though. For a 32 year old assemblywoman, she was dropping the f bomb practically every sentence. I'm not easily offended, but she was just so rude & bitter about Jenna, it was really off putting. Would have liked more puppy scenes as that was a large plot of the story. Also, for a Christmas-themed tale, there should have been more than decorating the tree, shopping, etc.

Eh. Just not worth my time.

Gifted is "reimagined" or regifted m/m rewritten as f/f fiction.

Gillian and Elaine are introduced to each other at the local animal shelter. Elaine planned to bring her last girlfriend in to adopt a dog. Turns out that said girlfriend cheated with a male co-worker and became pregnant. Elaine realized that after three years together she had no clue who her ex really was. Deciding to cancel her appointment at the shelter, she calls and talks to Gillian. After listening to Gillian's sales pitch, Elaine wants a dog for herself. Elaine zooms in on a beautiful Jack Russell terrier named Cody and makes her choice. Gillian has to process paperwork and inspect Cody's new home before the adoption is finalized.

Gifted takes the same shortcuts as other books in this category. It's too short to do anything interesting with the plot or characters. It needs additional proofreading to catch the remaining typos. The overuse of four letter words seems puerile for women in their late twenties or early thirties. Both women identify as lesbians and have had relationships with other women. There was something more than instalove between the characters and their romance did possess heartfelt sweetness. Better than most of these cheesy novellas, I'd rate it at around 2.5 stars.

Damn author, read your note. Some paragraph doesn't fit with something said or done in the previous one. There's so mistake, I can saw it and I'm not native English speaker. Hi I'm french Canadian btw !

Elaine is some kind of freak person, I am scare to meet her in person. If the story was like the summary :"Elaine is hesitant about getting involved with anyone new"I'm sure this would have been better.

I hope this book was writen for a high school writing exam because it was a total joke:(

GIFTED

The reason I have given 3 stars is because I did not care for the language used. I think the story would have been much better without the foul language. A woman does not need to talk like that to get her point across.
