These books really aren't the best, BUT W loves running his fingers along the trails and doing the loop de loops and as long as he is happy and content so are we.
I read the French version. The couplets aren't so sing-songy in rhythm compared to the English version, but still are short and easy sentences. I love the introduction to different animals and environments through the book (a great way to build vocabulary) and enjoyed the embedded paths on the pages. This would be a great series to read with little ones practicing their dexterity as well as their reading skills.

A quick little read that shows some cute landscapes. And the bonus, you can trace different paths with your finger! If you have a child who's just starting to write or will be learning soon, this will help them learn how to follow the lines (the page is indented where you trace).
Ages: 2 - 5

3.5 stars I really liked the unique follow the trail aspect (I've never seen that before). I don't know what age group this was targeting but if it was for 3 year olds then I wish the book was a little longer. If it's for 1-2 year old where you guide their finger yourself then it's probably a good length.
My kiddos loved tracing their finger along the many trails in this board book's celebration of all sorts of landscapes. I like to think this helps prepare them for writing in their near future.
Bold, colorful illustrations link with indented zig-zag to curly lines throughout this book to foster an enjoyable, interactive reading experience. The text is minimal, which in my opinion is essential for board books.
My only wish for this book is that the text be just a little larger and bolder to help children notice it more clearly. However, simple and playful, yet textually-rich rhyming couplets more than make up for the small size.
Otherwise, the interactive nature and the detail in the beautiful illustrations is excellent. The detail really gives the adults something deeper to talk to the child about -- "what other animals can you find on this page?" -- as they're reading together.
Leap over rocks! dive in the ocean! Fly in the air! This board book is a fun, interactive read for children to trace their finger on every page and practice getting ready to write. Good for ages 18 months to 3 years.
Malcolm really liked it when I helped him trace his finger along the line on each page. He kept grabbing my hand and having me do it again and again. Cute concept that could be better if the line had some type of texture to it, but fun.
