‘Narcissism’ aims to educate listeners about narcissistic behaviour in its various forms, to enhance our ability to cope with people who exhibit these traits. I now have a much better understanding of the difference between positive and negative narcissism, and how to better protect myself from the latter.
It really opened my eyes to how many negative behaviours I have witnessed are actually classically narcissistic, and will help me deal with my emotional response to that behaviour in future. It’s been really useful to have the traits laid out so clearly and concisely. I am also interested in listening to other books on this subject, and in particular those related to improving self-esteem that has been damaged by prolonged contact with a narcissist.
The narrator was warm and friendly, with a calm, soothing voice that felt very reassuring while discussing such a challenging and emotive subject.
I believe this book would benefit everyone, but would be of particular use to anyone who believes they may be dealing with a narcissist in their work or personal life, or who has low self-esteem and may be at higher risk of abuse from a narcissist. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who wants a good introduction to the subject with useful practical advice on safeguarding oneself from negative behaviours.
