This sequel to The Fast, explores what happens when a new pastor takes over after the previous one has been incarcerated. More than ready to prove himself, Pastor Williams and his wife try to acclimate themselves as part of the community while not paying as much attention their children. This allows his older son to be pulled into the web of a church going temptress, his daughter to get bullied by other jealous parishioners, and his younger son to find comfort over the Internet. They may be fitting in socially, but their family is falling apart.
Moving to Georgia from Brooklyn really seemed to take the pastor's children out of their element. They struggled to make new friends and sort out the haters. I couldn't believe AJ went as far as he did, but having a solid foundation reeled him back in. Vanessa really had her head on straight and I thought that she would be the one running wild. Darren was way too young to hey caught on - I'm not sure kids that young are that curious. I loved the First Lady and how she handled her business. I wish this book had been longer, though and delved into the kid's personalities and their lives before the move. But I was glad that the kids didn't cause another church scandal. Good, fast paced read that really captured the politics of church.
Too many curse words from the lips of a so called first ladies. These first ladies need to understand Christianity and realise that their allegiance is firstly to the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank God the pastor did not have roving eyes and he at least put God first. I was definitely disgusted with the first lady. She needs help. The author also needs a course on how to live for God. She has no clue.
As the saying goes Pastor children are the worse, it really happened in this book. First Lady was busy making a name in this mega church, Pastor busy getting congregation back. Children left unattended call into the wrong crowd. Even Darren the youngest was home watching porn and using his brothers visa to pay. Good read. It just show that family is always first.
This was a great read! Wished it would have went into more of the relationship between the First Lady and Teresa! Glad the family was able to get back on track!
