The Thomas Factor: The Key To Believing When You Cannot Find An Answer

Rate this book
Do you know that doubt and darkness are precursors to greater faith? Sooner or later, every Christian experiences doubt -- those agonizing times when we feel far removed from God's presence. Rather than separate us from God, however, Winkie Pratney believes that doubt can bring us into a better place with Christ.

A friend passed this book along to me after I admitted that I was experiencing a spiritual slump. Was I experiencing a "dark night of the soul"? I hadn't thought of it in that way--I thought I was just somewhat world weary!

The first ten chapters address doubt in various degrees. Then come the last five chapters addressing "The Darkness of God: Trusting When You Cannot See." What is it? What to do with it? What is its purpose? Of what benefit is it? These chapters are powerful--and I'm rereading them.

Biblically based, Pratney develops his thesis about the key to believing when I can't find answers, trusting God's character when I can't see His hand.

Challenging and affirming. Very readable. Biblically sound. I would highly recommend this to anyone struggling in his/her spiritual journey.

I did not really care for the book at first, but the last half was pretty good. I enjoyed how Winkie shared bibles stories and that he expounded a lot on Isaiah 50:6-12 towards the end of the book. It stirred in me some emotions as it he wrote about the long times of darkness; the absence of any sense of God. How no matter what we do, prayer or believe, only NOTHING. I have long been in a time of darkness, and I caused my heart to grow heavy and to feel again a kind of wish for God. If I am left with anything from the book, Its keep on keeping on, do my duty, and that something good will come about from all of this
