This is the end of us all.

For Hayden and Grace, the threat of war has become a reality. The world is running out of resources, driving the survivors to drastic, inhuman measures. Blackwing is the obvious target and physical attacks from enemies are accompanied by the devastating mental turmoil that cannot be fought off with weapons.

This is life impacted by war with enemies, allies and oneself. Now, not much is certain, but a few things are guaranteed:

There will be pain. There will be death. There will be annihilation.

These books will always have a special place in my heart.
Although I felt like the ending was a bit rushed, I was so happy with how it ended and cannot bring myself to give anything less than four stars. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the whole series, including the extra cheesy parts that I would usually cringe at. They just felt right here.
These books are my guilty pleasure. I love them so much.

I love this series, I just wish it wasn’t such an abrupt type of ending. It just seemed like the ending was rushed

Meine Rezension:

Great ending for a series of great books!

I’ve just finished reading all four books in just as many days. This being the last of the four, I have to say that I was as satisfied with the ending as I was with the rest of this book and all the books in the series. Spectacular!

Rezension „Ruins of Love - Vereint (Grace & Hayden 4)“ von Megan DeVos

Meinung

i don’t even know where to start, finishing a series you’re so attached to is bittersweet. the amount of emotions i felt throughout it all is insane. this book in particular, had so much more character development (leutie, kit, malin, etc.). you watched them open up and become the best versions of themselves, and i loved that it focused a little more on them than the first books. the conflict was absolutely insane, already starting with a major one for grace, and towards the end the most difficult, heartbreaking one of all for her.

“The mental wounds ran deep, so deep that they’d caused me to fear touches from the man I loved more than anything in the world.”

hayden and grace will FOREVER have my heart, their relationship is something i will forever wish to find.

“She was my everything, my happiness, my heart. She was all I needed, and all I would ever want. She was my best friend, my true love, my life.”

“With Hayden, I was home.”

Overall, I liked the series. And the ending was satisfactory. Also, of all the multitude of YA post-apocalyptic fiction series with a strong female protagonist that I’ve read, Grace Cook is by far the biggest bad ass. She makes Katniss Everdeen look like a 90s era Disney princess.

Having said that…
You can’t consent to a romantic relationship with someone holding you captive.
Though the action is captivating, the writing is bad at times. I found myself skimming a lot. There were also a lot of typos and misspellings for a book that was professionally published.
I’m guessing these are a big draw in the online communities where Devos built, but you can miss me with the in-depth romance scenes. The world has ended, I’m not that interested in sex lives of the survivors.

I read all four books pleasantly, although they were times that I felt the story didn't develop as much as it could. The third and the fourth books are my favorites as the story takes an entirely new turn and more concerning, and perhaps triggering issues are discussed. There were times I was disappointed, and there were times that I could not put the books down. I'd say it's a series I enjoyed reading, but it seemed more promising than it was.

I waited a year to get my hands on this book because I couldn't find it anywhere but I finally found it and I got to read it again.
I don't even remember the year when I first came across this series but at the time the story was published on wattpad and I can't even tell you how many times I reread the books. And I'm gonna be honest, it's not the greatest book series of all time and it's not revolutionary but for some reason the story brings me comfort even to this day so yeah.

i loved this series. so sad it's ended. it's one of the best book series' i've read. the story of hayden and grace will forever live in my mind rent free. the ending is so cute - the ending they deserve. this book was a rollercoaster of emotions. it was a bit hard to finish as i feel like it was a bit of a drag, but even then i would 100% read this again. i'm going to miss reading this.

This final book had me so stressed, my heart was pounding out of my chest as I read each page. This has some time jumps but the plot otherwise was written so well that everything had a reason and a place. Great way to conclude Grace and Hayden's story.

only reason 3 stars as opposed to 4 is bc i just don’t think this book (or maybe even the last one) was THAT necessary…… it do be a lot of the same plot and story but i also do still love the characters added and certain aspects of each book for sure

Did I like it? Yes? I feel like this is exactly the book series I would have LOVED to read when I was 15 and wanted the plot to be cool but also kinda cheesy and filled with teenage love. I think this book was really a fun read and I enjoyed it but after book 2 it kept repeating the same things and I just expected a bit more I guess.

Book 4 was the best of all 4 in my opinion but hard to read at the same time due to heavy topics.
Not the best series but it did make me stress and cry :,) I’m glad I pushed through it for that last book!

Lots of dark themes in this one, a tougher read than the rest of the series. An insane amount of internal conflict and challenging the characters to the extreme. Was satisfied with the ending. Overall it was a good wrap up to the whole series but it is a tough and dark read that makes it less of a guilty pleasure read like the other 3 books.

Everything I said about the previous books can be applied to this one. The ending felt rushed and sudden, with conflict that should have been spread out over 100s of pages. The sudden dark twist at the end of the book really took me by surprise, but it just felt like too much happening in too little pages.

I’m happy that Grace is finally able to be intimate with the man she loves again. However, did them having sex have to be the last chapter of the novel (excluding the epilogue)? It was definitely a needed chapter and maybe it’s just me, but it didn’t feel like the right way to conclude everything.

Also, Leutie. The only purpose she’s served during the entire series is as a love interest. She doesn’t provide information about Graystone that Shaw hadn’t already, or do anything at all. She exists only so Dax gets his happy ending, and while I love Dax I wish she had more plot significance.

But if I had to pick, my least favorite thing about this series is the damn petnames Herc and Bear. They don’t work and never have, they’re just so odd and cringey. Ill never be able to think about Hercules without feeling incredibly ill again. You can imagine my horror when I flip to the last page of this four book long series just to see the last line being, ‘She was my Bear.’

All in all, this series disappointed me. Anarchy gave me high expectations, but every subsequent book just felt like the same corny mess of identical pages. The romance is cute, but it’s just so constant that you start to get sick of it. Overall series is a 2.5/5.

My 5th or 6th time rereading this series and it's crazy how well I've constructed the world of the anarchy series in my mind. It is genuinely my favourite world to revisit, and I love absolutely everything about it. The characters are some of the most interesting, complex, realistic and relatable characters I've ever had the pleasure of reading and you leave this series feeling like they're your real life friends.

I forgot some of the major plot points that occurred in this book so the pain I felt the previous times rereading it was just as strong, I cried like a baby!
I've always felt a bit icky about what happens to Grace in this book but I think not including that storyline would be incredibly naive considering the dystopian nature of the series and harsh realities
of what would occur. I think it was handled marvellously, with the proper care and attention given.

I would say that Anarchy is Hayden's book, Loyalty is Graces, Revolution is Dax's and Annihilation is definitely Kit's. Loved getting to see a different, softer side to Kit, and his relationship with both Grace and Malin develop.

The epilogue fills my heart with my joy and was such a perfect ending. I wish there was multiple spin off series for Dax's and Kit's stories as I'm not reading to leave them behind yet (or ever).

This series has my whole heart, thank you Megan ❤️

Now, I read this originally on wattpad as the fanfiction when I was maybe 17, so I see it as actual books on Amazon 7 years later and I just can’t resist. Originally it was Anarchy (first 3 books in one I think) and then Anarchy: Annihilation, and I feel like that had a better pacing to me as the 2 books. But I guess making it 4 spread it out better or something? I think if it had have been cut up better then it would have been easier to finish sooner. I think the way one book ended sometimes was a bit lacklustre, but overall still very nostalgic to me.

I have to say this is my favourite book in the series. You can really see Megan’s writing evolve over the series. Just the character development and attachment to certain characters at this point makes this a really fun read!
Highly recommend to get to this book in the series :)
