Dark & Fluffy is a brand new compilation of short fiction pieces; some will chill, some will make you smile. There are even a few that will do both. So you get the best of both worlds. What are you waiting for? Dive in and enjoy!
Ok, so I’m doing these books back to front. I read Dark & Fluffy 2 & enjoyed the short tales which gave me just enough content to satisfy my reading at this time. So I went on to purchase Dark & Fluffy, the first book .. I’m hoping there may be a book 3 lurking somewhere just waiting to find me!?
Anyway, this is another selection of nine short stories, a mix of genres and length. The ideal thing I found with these collections is they pushed my comfort zones and opened up my desire to try different styles and categories of writing.
The author has shown how you can fit a great deal of content into a short amount of words, the problem with a lot of shorts is you can be left feeling cheated at the end because they run out of space, but all of these with the exception of the last one, round up the completion perfectly. The final tale gives a choice of two endings .. for info Janet, I prefer the first one because it leaves a lot to the readers imagination which could go in a few directions.
I had a slight issue with the content of one of the stories, which includes the proposal of Santa giving puppies for Christmas it was finally resolved but not before I had chance to raise my blood pressure!
Unlike the second book I didn’t have a particular favourite from this one, (maybe that shows a maturity in the authors writing? I don’t know) the remaining tales were all on a par of being enjoyable and entertaining. I didn’t get on too well with “The Actor” the overall style of that one just wasn’t quite my thing but I’m sure will probably be somebody else’s favourite. That’s the beauty of a group of stories you can pick and choose.
Overall a strong selection worthy of my four stars. entertaining and highly suitable for a re-read.
