A rom-com that manages to straddle both comedy and drama and, of course, Tremayne's distinctive style will have you completely subsumed in the drama that is Rafael and Veronica's second chance. And oh, the sex scenes were blistering hot!

‪This is how you write an enemies-to-lovers. You take ex-lovers with a whole lot of history, a bad break-up and you reacquaint them at the wedding of their besties after several years apart.‬

description Revenge—served sizzling hot.”

‪Hate, love, lust, passion, fight, fear, and hilarity saw this hit the the jackpot for me. Exactly what I needed, plus it’s set on my doorstep, good old Yorkshire.‬

description I hate you so much I made a voodoo doll of you using that lock of hair you gave me and a T-shirt you left in the laundry hamper.”

If you love your stories hot, steamy with lots of snarky humour and lots of emotion, then this is a story for you, I devoured this one every word adds to the story of second chance at love, when Rafael and Veronica decide that two weeks together will get each other out of their hearts but will it bring them back together? You need to read this one and see what happens.

Veronica Johnson comes from a rich family a family steeped in old money and when studying at university in DC she meets the man that she is sure will be the one and only the man that she will love always and that is Rafael Velez, and for three years their relationship is fabulous yes there are arguments but there is great sex and lots of love, but Rafael has a huge problem when she presents him with a graduation gift that makes him think about their future and he walks away and she lets him.

Rafael Velez is a poor Columbian but it is love at first sight when he meets Veronica, even though he loves her with all of his heart there is still a big difference in their backgrounds and he does not like feeling like a bought man, and when she has the best gift for him, he decides it is time to make some money himself and then come back for her but Veronica never lets him come back and explain, and they are apart for seven years but her always knows what she is doing he never gets over loving her as he writes his bestselling books.

When they are at their best friend’s Matt and Romy’s wedding and meeting up again Veronica has the daggers out for Rafael, but Rafael is determined to get under skin and back in her life anyway he can and when they agree to spending two weeks together, their lives heat up in the physical and emotional way, can I say WOW this one had my glasses steaming up, but the emotion and the humour throughout this story makes it a must read, I loved it, MS Tremayne does sexy, hot sarcasm and humour in a way that will have you turning the pages, thank you for another fantastic story and I am really looking forward to Teague’s story.

I liked this one of the trio the very best. Veronica and Rafa’s story is just so beautifully set up and the 2 weeks that they agree to, so as to achieve closure, is of course the way to their happy ever after.

Avril writes, strong, realistic characters. You don’t always like them or approve of them but she makes you understand them. I loved the literary references and the fact that it was set in my home county of Yorkshire was an additional bonus!

The scene setting, the dialogue and the steamy sex scenes keep this story motoring along and I never lost interest in Rafa and Veronica even when I wanted to slap them! Great to meet up with the other 3 at the wedding. I found Veronica and Rafael the most interesting and understandable of the couples but all 3 books were great. This one is definitely my favourite!

I have read this one several times now and always enjoy it: a truly emotional and satisfying read.

I enjoyed this one much better than the first one in this series.

This book works as a stand alone, and I thoroughly recommend it. It's hot, sexy, emotional, and throws in some classical literature references for fun.

Wow! The intensity of the emotions felt by these characters just jumps off the page. The description of the desolation felt by Veronica had me getting a bit teary in Chapter Five, and then when the hero, Rafa, is desperately trying to win Veronica back later in the book, I was definitely cheering him on.

description

Set over just a two-week timeframe, author Avril Tremayne has done a great job setting up the situation, with ex-lovers Rafa and Veronica meeting again, after several years, at a mutual friend's wedding. The antagonism quickly ignites into passionate revenge / closure sex, with both hoping to be able to move on from their painful breakup.

The sex in this book is HOT, including the climactic scene where Veronica takes charge and tests her own boundaries in order to purge some of the ghosts of their past. This is a fierce scene that really impacts their relationship.

Despite a few missteps, Rafa and Veronica come to realise that they have each grown up enough to make a relationship work and that their feelings for each other never really diminished, despite the hurt from the breakdown of their original relationship. For such a hot and tumultuous journey, the HEA is sweet, but somehow perfect for this couple.

The writing in this book is fantastic, with the strength of the character's feelings just pouring off the page. I got a good sense of who the characters are despite a static location and short time-frame. I am definitely looking forward to reading Avril Tremayne's other "DARE" titles now.

A wickedly real story, hot, steamy & lovable. The characters are easy to relate to & it leaves 50 Shades of Grey for dead. One of the best reads I’ve had in ages. Well done Avril! 5 stars all round!!!

This is a very passionate read about two people who should have married the first time around. Veronica and Rafael can't forget each other and seeing each other again at a friend's wedding makes the pent-up need explode. They have to work it out or be unhappy for life.

This one starts at Romy and Matt's wedding (the couple from Getting Lucky). Rafael and Veronica haven't seen each other in seven years, two months, three weeks and five days and OMG the sparks fly from the start. *fans self*
They make a deal to finally get the closure they crave but they end up craving something else instead...
I have come to love Avril's writing, the pace, the banter, the hawt sex scenes.
I really really can't wait for the third book, Getting Naughty.

Well holy hell! I hardly give 5 star ratings but this book 😍it is funny, hot, sexy as anything and a good standalone read. I enjoyed this book better than the first one so I was a bit apprehensive about reading this one so soon after I'd read the first. But now? I'd happily read this one over and over again. The right about amount of emotion, sex and heart in this book, thank you Avril for the fantastic book that I couldn't put down. (I think I need to learn Spanish now 😀)

Hot, hot, hot!

A second chance romance that is fuelled with so much passion that it's impossible to put down. It has humour, seriously naughty, hot as hell sex, and is packed with emotion. I loved it! I will however, never look at chocolate mousse the same way again, but I'm ok with that because OMG, that scene...read it to find out what I mean.

Avril delivers all the feels with this book and I can't wait for the next one!

An emotional roller coaster of a second chance love.
When Rafael attends his friends wedding, he has one aim on his mind, to get his long-time one-time love Veronica back.
But Veronica doesn’t trust him and after agreeing to spend two weeks with him so she has exclusive on his new novel, she has the same feelings she had for him the day he left.
But can they resolve their differences and get their happy ending?
An exciting read.

Avril Tremayne knows how to write a 'Dare' with all the promise of sexy, passionate and bold. I loved the quirky 'fun' style of writing that got me invested in both characters and cheering them on the a HEA regardless of their past. Looking forward to reading Getting Naughty.

I really enjoyed this. It's fun, it's sexy, it's engaging. It's written in a style that feels light but the emotions in the book are deep. A perfect blend of excellent story and steam.

This was one long revenge-sex wet dream. I'm still not sure why Rafael left and why they didn't go after each other? The author tries to explain it but 1.) does a shit job at it and it confused me and 2.)from what I gather, the reason is: mis-communication, which, for not talking after 7 years, is such a fucking shit reason -- a copout on the author's part.

2 stars because the first half was interesting and angsty in a good way. 1 additional star because of the smut. No more stars because this should've been a novella.

This is a second chance romance, the plot was not bad but I just wished the book was longer so that we got to see the relationship be tested and more angst. Rafael and Veronica were a couple in college but because of Rafael’s own insecurities and prejudice against Veronica’s wealth and family he left her to better himself, so that he may become more deserving of her. However, as one may imagine Veronica did not take his leaving well, especially when it was not communicated to her in person by himself, so Veronica blocked him outta her life. 7 years later the two reunite and come to an agreement to spend 2 weeks together in order for Veronica to gain publishing rights to Rafael’s new book as he has become a successful author. The book just focuses on those two weeks, so yeah you can say this story was predictable. Though given the length of the story, it made me annoyed at the amount of internal dialogue that could have been edited out and replaced with the pair arguing/talking it out. Just felt like they could have had longer and deeper conversations that could have fleshed the story and characters out more. Veronica’s character was likeable, I enjoyed that she was no doormat. Overall, it was still a fun read if you’re not expecting much and looking for something to pass time.

I strated it as a sexy read and then it just gave me a headache.
I had a lot of trouble understanding their angst and what they really wanted from each other.
The dialogue is sophisticated but the ideas are all over the place.

**Actually a 3.5-rating**

Eeesh, this one is a toughie.

While, my gawd did I like the underlying premise, it was the execution of the unfolding that went sideways and a little wonky for me.

We got a little bit of an "insight" into these two MCs in Bk 1 as this whole series is based around 4 BFs from University.

This book's female and male MC dated back in those days and it was highly passionate [lots of sex] and tumultuous [lots of arguing/fights]; granted each gave as good as the other, kind of like War of the Roses-esque, but man, were they seriously toxic to each other.

Basically, let's say loosely Wuthering Heights-based...like so loosely but yet there is plenty of WH-book w/tiny Heathcliffe/Catherine mentions all over this story.

She is a Rich Girl...
He is a Poor Boy...

And where she is rather open and less bothered by her money-status, he feels poor, useless [less man-ly] and inadequate.

It was made worse by him seeing her be frivolous about her money as she splurges, like rich people do and he finds flaws in this.

And certainly when she buys expensive gifts for him…I find this doggedly displeasing because if this was gender-bent… guy buying girl gifts? yeah, he would be talking different but still probably complaining something different about her.

7yrs ago, he had told her he was always going to love her, forever, but then turned around - with a paltry engagement ring in his pocket - and left her - well, he let one of their other friends tell her he was leaving and then he was gone.

This spurns her into not one but two failed, very short marriages, leaving her twice divorced.

They meet again at the first book's couple's wedding...and already they have two different agendas, because they have had 7yrs of waiting to achieve superior hatred and loathing for the other person.

They strike up a 2-week deal...she works for her family's Book Publishing house and...ah! he is a Novelist, who has had 2 successful books published and is looking for someone to take on his 3rd novel.

What is truly interesting, and what I found interesting and likable about this story is this idea that he has written 2 scathing bestsellers loosely-based on her, on their failed relationship or her terrible, unhappy marriages.

Either way, this 3rd book is supposed to be HIS COLD-HEARTED DIABOLICAL WH-re-telling where he actually "kills off" or considers ending his female MC’s life rather idiotically.

But once they have the MC’s first night of sex, he's feeling guilty and repentant, realizing what a crap piece of fiction he's written and HOW DARE! he try to sleep with her, not only to get her out of his system, but also figure out a more perfect, poetic ending to his book.

Here is what I didn't appreciate... just because she grew up with money and is from a rich family, born-ready to get an inheritance...he treats her deplorably 7yrs ago, then comes up with this truly stupid "plan" after confessing devotion and undying love.

He will leave her to go make some of his own damn money so he can one day return to her as equally rich as she is...uh, wha-?

Not only did he treat her deplorably in the past [leaving & breaking her heart unnecessarily], making so many assumptions about her except her greatness in bed...but now, all he wants is SEX for 2wks.

Then, suddenly, he’s going to realize he's still in love, never stopped...whatever, but HE IS STILL just speaking to her as if she hasn't been heartbroken by what he did or that she isn't, yet again, nothing but a piece of flesh for him to f*ck whenever he wants.

And their SEX scenes? My gawd the number of times it was described how rough he had been and that she woke the morning after with all these bruises and such...it's as if they HATE-F*cked more than truly had sex because of love.

He was too toxic which then pissed and angered her to the point she became enraged enough to be toxic as well.

So, yeah...they got a dumb HEA that happened way-too quickly and man, did she get so fucking shit-kicked by ALL OF HIS PETTINESS writing those 2 prior best-selling books and then this 3rd one, which she read the original manuscript of.

What a way to treat the woman you swear is "mi vida" and whom you love forever.
