This is the only monograph on Wallace Harrison who is probably not known by most people but probably should be. His 3 most well-known projects are Rockefeller Center, UN Headquarters, and Albany Mall, all monumental massive projects.
This book is very easy to read and is well-researched with many quotes from Harrison and his close colleagues including interviews with those who knew him. There are many photos, renderings, and architectural drawings throughout, all in black and white. There is a lot of insight into the realization of these buildings and honoring relationships with Rockefeller and others during his career
The book is grouped by building type somewhat chronologically with the main emphasis on the big 3 projects. Almost every project is covered to some degree including at least 1 photo. There is a list of works at the back including a list of works by Max Abramovitz. It would be nice to see more attention to the works of Abramovitz as he is closely intertwined with Harrison through their long partnership Harrison & Abramovitz, yet usually does not get as much credit as Harrison.
It would be nice to see an updated edition with more contemporary photos, including updates on the current status of many buildings. Overall, this is a great book of knowledge for anyone interested in modernist or mid-century architecture, especially large public/government buildings.
