Another great story about Diana Hunter. In this story she and Peter Hopkinson have to learn to trust each other. But trust doesn't come easy with these two because of their past. Can they intercept those that are trying to do harm to thousands of people and change the political direction of two countries? Can they learn to trust again? You will need to read the book to find out how this one ends. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this story.

Exposed - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Despite their troubled past in the Vancouver Police Department, that led to continuing trust issues between them, Agent Peter Hopkinson and Special Agent Diana Hunter must work together to save the lives of thousands of Canadian citizens in Exposed, Book 5 in amazing author Alison Golden's the excellent Diana Hunter Mysteries Series.

A nefarious plot between a would-be sheikh and a corrupt ambitious Canadian politician to overthrow their particular governments and assume control by acts of terrorism - a bombing campaign that could decimate thousands of citizens - must be thwarted by the Agents at all costs!

This all-action thriller has non-stop action and thrills aplenty as its main characters develop in a realistic way, both personally and professionally to bring the story to a most satisfactory conclusion, that will resonate with current public awareness of the global rise of terrorism and reassure readers that if Diana's in on the mission, success is guaranteed!

Detective Peter Hopkinson of the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) and Diana Hunter, a VPD Consultant, have been recruited for a special assignment. They are temporarily working with the counter-terrorism group, Task Force Indigo (TFI).

Their first stop Kandahar, Afghanistan, where they will receive details of their actual mission. It turns out that their assignment is to interrogate a known associate of a new terrorist group called ILIF and the associate is a member of the Dubai royal family.

During the interrogation, they learn of a terrorist plot designed to provoke a war between Canada and the Middle East. The terrorists plan a bombing at a large public venue, which could kill or injure hundreds or thousands of innocent people. The main objective seems to be to discredit the ruling members of both countries and replace them with political sympathizers.

To make matters worse, both Peter and Diana each have their own issues from the past to deal with while attempting to prevent the terrorist plot.

Can Diana and Peter intercept the terrorists and prevent the attack? Can they uncover the mastermind behind the plot and prevent future threats? Will their personal issues hamper their ability to work together?

The Diana Hunter Series is more thriller than mystery but without the harsh language or graphic violence normally associated with darker story lines. Alison Golden has the ability to pull you into the story and make you feel like you are witnessing everything first-hand.

Anyone reading Alison Golden's Anabelle series will immediately recognize Golden as the author of some good, exciting cozy mysteries. Then I came to Diana Hunter. Suddenly, for me at least, Alison Golden entered the zone of James Patterson and the Kellermans with -- although still cozy within the genre definition of a "cozy mystery," (i.e., "a subgenre of crime fiction in which sex and violence are downplayed or treated humorously, and the crime and detection take place in a small, socially intimate community" according to Wikipedia) -- some excellent nail-biting, breath-holding, teeth-clenching plots with a hero(ine) who is but "kick-ass" capable although sometimes over-confident in her ability to get herself safely out of any situation. She's partnered with a Vancouver, BC police detective who, apparently, has as many secrets to his past as Diana does, and who has come to her rescue a few times. In EXPOSED, they are pretty much a compatible team, trading still poking but now friendly jabs at each other to find out who is after a Senator and why. In uncovering diabolical assassination plots coming to a head, Alison Golden has totally grabbed my attention once again with her story and character building. It seems she has many personalities, considering all the varying story-lines in each of her series. I've become a die-hard Golden fan.

All I can say is WOW! Book 5 in this series is a mystery thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat with every turn of the page! Peter, detective in the VPD and Diana, consultant for the VPD are back together on a case when they are recruited back into a counter-terrorism group to go after a suspected terror cell looking to set off chaos between Canada and the Middle East. With trust issues between them, can they work together, trust enough and find the terrorists before people are killed? Who is behind the planning of the terrorist cell? Is there more to the plan and people involved than is evident? How is the Royal family of Dubai involved? Does this connect to the thwarted assassination attempt on Senator Greene? How are Diana's parents deaths that she has been haunting her involved? Alison Golden draws you in with the first page where Diana and Peter are packed and leaving for their secret assignment in Afghanistan. So much action, so much mystery and so much on the line has Peter and Diana on edge, hoping to stop a major terrorist act in time! This series is one of the best thrillers I have ever read and I can't wait to see what comes next with Peter and Diana! I received and ARC from the author, but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Alison Golden is one of those writers that you can depend upon to produce a good read, whether it's her cosy mystery series or this thriller series.
This book is a hugely exciting story of international terrorists bent on wreaking havoc in Vancouver, but it is so much more as well, I won't say any more as I hate spoilers, but there are some superbly described emotional scenes which make the story complete.
The characters are original, unique and very believable, especially the 2 main characters, Diana and Peter who are immensely capable people, but both of them have pasts which they have kept hidden, even from each other, but they are revealed in this book, will these revelations jeopardise their relationship?
I (nearly) read this book in one sitting, it was that gripping and involving, and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.
I am fortunate enough to be a member of Alison's 'Street Team' and so received an advance copy of the book, but this review is voluntarily written and based on my opinions.

This series just gets better & better! :) For those not in the know (& you should be in the know!), The Diana Hunter Mystery Series is a mild thriller about a former government agent-turned-police consultant in Vancouver, who solves crimes with her attractive partner, Det. Peter Hopkinson.

In Exposed, Diana & Peter track down suspects connected to the assassination of an assassin assigned to assassinate a Canadian politician (it's not as confusing as I just made it sound), continuing a plot directly from book #4 (if you haven't read the prequel, you should, either before or after reading Exposed - no spoilers - but the prequel will explain a significant event in the end of Exposed).

If you like your thrillers with minimal violence, language, & sex, then Alison Golden's Diana Hunter Series is a must-read! You should also check out Alison Golden's other series: The Reverend Annabelle Dixon Cozy Mysteries (for fans of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple) & The Ispector Graham Mysteries (for fans of Agatha Christie's Poirot).

This is the best Diana Hunter book yet. It had been a while since I had read "Chopped" (a previous Diana Hunter book) so I wanted to refresh my memory. I had forgotten just how tense that plot was. I enjoyed reading it again and it put me in the mood to experience "Exposed." Diana is a consultant for the Vancouver Police Department. She has a past with a more clandestine organization than she can reveal to her partner in the VPD, Peter Hopkinson. But Peter has his own secrets. When they are both recruited to ferret out folks in a terror organization we get a deeper look into both Diana and Peter's past. There is some conversation about interrogation techniques and procedures that Ms Golden brings into this story. I thought she covered them well. I was intrigued with Diana's ability to read micro expressions. I looked up a you tube video about how to detect when people are lying to you. Interesting stuff! I recommend this series for folks who like a strong female lead.

Diana Hunter and Peter Hopkinson team up again when they are requested to assist the counter-terrorism group TFI (Task Force Indigo). After they interrogate a known associate of the ILIF terrorist group, who happens to be a member of the Dubai royal family, they learn that there are plans for an attack on Canada.

Why are members of Canada’s government working with this terrorist group and what hopes do they plan to achieve with a war between Canada and the Middle East? Diana and Peter are on a fast-past race to foil a catastrophic event and stop a war from happening.

If you like a mystery/thriller that is suspenseful and keeps you on the edge of your seat then Exposed is the book for you. It has dynamic and engaging characters, unexpected twists, and lots of suspense to keep you reading.

RIVETING!

Exposed (Diana Hunter Mysteries # 5) is Riveting! This book may be read as a stand alone but to really appreciate it to its fullest, it needs to be read in order with the other Diana Hunter Mysteries. Golden has written a fantastic book where she places Diana Hunter and Peter Hopkinson temporarily assigned to Task Force Indigo, a counter-terrorism group. Early on, I got the feeling I was reading an spy thriller and it wasn’t Rated R but E for Enjoyable & Entertaining! Tons of heart-stopping moments, plenty of mystery, conspiracy theories all around, trying to decide who can be trusted and romance. All this adds up to a riveting read that will keep your attention from beginning to end. I was provided an ARC of this book by the author. I also purchased a copy of this book for my own personal library.

Diana Hunter is a memorable character. I like her spirit and her determination. Her desire to protect the innocent touched me. Her relationship with Peter Hopkinson is getting stronger. I loved how they trust each other completely. He's protective but Diana can take care of herself. This story kept me on the edge of my seat. The plot is definitely ripped from today's headlines. It was so exciting that I couldn't stop reading. I can't wait for the next book. I want to know who killed Diana's parents and why. Alison Golden has exceeded my expectations with Exposed. It's a roller coaster ride from beginning to end.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. My comments are my honest opinion.

The best of the series so far

I was only luke-warm about the previous books in the Diana Hunter series, but this one was much more compelling and satisfying. With this book and Chopped we discover that Golden had been holding out on us, and in this page-turner all is revealed. We went from tepid murder mysteries with shallow characters to this full-blown spy novel, complete with global intrigue, suicidal terrorists, threatened royalty, some new side-characters to care about and finally the obligatory love story. (Thanks to the authors for holding off on that last one. Although it's been telegraphed and anticipated since book 1, it was much more satisfying to grow into it.). Looking forward to the next addition of Diana's quest for answers.

Wonderful story. Well written. Characters are fleshed out. You feel like you know them.
Diane and Peter learn of a terrorist plot to use sucide bombers at an ice hockey playoff game in Canada. Will they be able to find the terroists in time? Will they find out who is the mastermind behind the plot and will they catch him?
A modern story. Diane and Peter reveal their secrets to each other. Will this help them to understand each other better and bring them even closer together?
I voluntarily received a copy of this book and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinions are entirely my own.

This is 5th book in the Diana hunter Mysteries.

A terrorist plot has been discovered and Diana Hunter who works for
a magazine firm, is recruited to come back to the bureau to
investigate and stop the threat.

Diana is helped by Peter who had been part of a Special Force.

They work the investigation together .

They foil part of the terrorist threat, but Diana is confronted by one of the suspects
who gives her information regarding the murder of her parents.

This book has left it open with regards to the information is has gleamed from this suspect.

Can't wait to read the next book if there is one or will be one.

Exposed is the fifth book in the Inspector Diana Hunter Mystery series by Alison Golden.

I’ve read the Inspector Graham and Reverend Annabelle series by Alison Golden, so I volunteered to read Exposed.

I haven’t read any other books in the series, but I was able to read it as a stand-alone book. I want to read the earlier books to to see how the characters got to the point they are at in their relationship.

I was drawn into the story and couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next one to see how the investigation into who killed Diana’s parents progresses.

I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

Exposed - as a damned good read ...

Bought it, read it, loved every single word of it. Can’t wait to read the rest of the story. Diana and Peter are brilliant together, their backstories feed into their current stories and tell us as readers so much about their strengths and their need to see that wrongs are put right. Excellent read, thanks so much for sharing this important part of the Diana story and providing her with such an amazingly strong yet vulnerable support in Peter. Although I am not a fan of animals, wee Max is a star turn!

Diana Hunter goes on another mission, leaving her dog Max and Terri the girl she rescued from her enemy Surgeon. She and Peter Hopkinson are called back into military duty to go to Kandahar. Diana goes undercover to turn Farat around to be on our side, but she is reluctant to do what is asked of her and she and Peter do it their way. After getting the information they wanted fly back to Canada to try to stop what they found out was going to happen. Things start to get very intense and exciting with Diana and Peter working together.

While I did enjoy this book, and the Diana Hunter Mysteries in general, I have to say that I find the on-going story arc is getting a bit tedious. It may be just me, but at book 5 and continuing on into book 6 (and beyond?), it is just too much. I want to see thing resolved.

I did enjoy the "primary" storyline of book, and I do like the characters. Alison Golden does a good job of sewing all the various pieces into a satisfying whole. I would just like to see her accomplish the same with Diana's past.

NOTE: I received a free copy to review.

Diana Hunter is one of my favorite series and I've read every book....and then impatiently await the next installment. lol Diana is personable and can get herself into some messes, but she'd adroit and fun to tag along with througout the story. Each book gives you more insight into why she is the way she is and this book adds to that. This one kept me going until the end. I read a few chapters each night sad that I had to get to bed to go to work the next day. Give this book a try. You'll want to read more in the series.

Diana Hunter and Peter Hopkinson are partnered together again. They are trying to stop an attempted assignation on a Canadian Senator, as well as a couple of high placed dignitaries from the Mid East. They also are trying to stop a terrorist attact on Canadian soil.

The major obstical they are facing are the hidden past that both have kept secret and had hoped not to revisit.

This is another great story from Alison Golden, The Diana Hunter stories just keep getting better with each book.

This new Diana Hunter mystery keeps you on the edge of your seat, with you needing to stop reading for dinner or whatever, and this story will NOT let you stop until you find out how it ends! Can Diana and Peter come to the right conclusion? Can they get to the truth in time? You will just have to read this exciting story for yourself because I will not give it away. If you love well-rounded characters and a really good story, read Exposed.

Another good Diana Hunter story. Ms. Golden tells a great story whether it's a nail biting thriller like this or one of her cozy mystery series. This story moves Diana and Peter's relationship along nicely and fills in some background for both of them. The crimes are scary and all too possible! Really good addition to the series.

Although the Diana Hunter series is not my favorite of Alison Golden's, I really like all of her books. I usually don't read much in the way of terrorists or counter-terrorists but this series is an exception. Diana and Peter work very well together, both professionally and personally. The book is about their job as counter-terrorists, but is not overly graphic or wordy. I would recommend this series.
I received an ARC copy and this is my honest opinion.

Diana Hunter

In this book in the series, Diana and Peter, her partner, have been assigned to a task force to uncover a terrorist plot. The two of them end up traveling around the world to uncover details of the plot and who is involved. This was a very tense, suspenseful read and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading. A great addition to the series. I can't wait for the next book to learn more.

Non-stop! Everything about this series and especially this book is non-stop...for the story and the reader. I did not stop reading for anything. Diana and Peter are together again. The story is a bit wider ranging in our world but the challenges and threats are just as perfect as the proceeding books. There is a little bit of romance and a little bit of humour and the rest is action. I loved it!

Praise for Alison Golden's Diana

This is the first Diana I have read because spy thrillers usually have too much violence for me, but I like Alison Golden's two other series so decided to give Diana a chance. Somehow the author has managed to create a cozy spy thriller. Good job!

Exciting

This is my favorite series of all Alison Golden writes. Although you have to suspend reality for some of the adventures you are still carried away with the intense action & responses. The setting in Canada (though you may travel around the world), & the characters add to the enjoyment of the stories. I hope book 6 comes soon!

Book 5 in the Diana Hunter series takes a detour into the world of terrorist threats and those who hunt them. This is the best of the five stories, and it begins to answer questions from the first story. However, those questions remain unanswered or the answers are unconfirmed. Well worth reading. Hopefully book 6 will arrive in the near future.
